Pretty much yeah. Disconnecting the internet from my cable modem and plugging in my 360 is getting tiresome so I need a good but inexpensive router. One that won't slow down my internet or give me any lag when I start pwning Fran online soon at the same time. What do you guys recommend?

I use a linksys WRT54G router. I have 2 wireless laptops, 360 wireless and a desktop all connected to it with no lag. The only time I have lag on the 360 is when I forget to turn off any torrents I happen to be downloading.

Yeah I was looking at that. Would you recommend I buy this and the 360 Wireless adapter as well?

the Linksys routers are quite nice.

I have the apple Airport Extreme. It's made to work with both Macs and PC's, and is a great router. I haven't had any lag problems at all.

I have that setup. You'll have to do some setup in the router to get the 360 to go through without it blocking it at times. Basically, setup the 360 with a static IP and have it unblocked in the router. I can provide you with a site that will help explain it better.

Maybe when I actually get it all the stuff together. I can't afford a $100 wireless adapter right now.

I'll throw my vote in for the Apple Airport Extreme as well. I have two in my house and they work seamlessly.

As already suggested, both Linksys and Apple make excellent products. For wireless, the Airport Extreme is hard to beat since you can hang a printer and a USB drive off of it and share them out over the network. For wired router products, Linksys is tops.

Is setup easy on that Airport Extreme? How much does it run for?

The Airport Extreme goes for $179 and the Airport Express goes for $99. They are very, very easy to set up, though.

I just took a look at it on the Apple site, seems cool, but once again, I don't understand the setup. How exactly can I for example get my 360 on the network and print wirelessly.

Not certain about the 360 and connecting it via an Airpot. There are probably a few ways to do that with an Apple wireless product. Might check Google out and see what you find. I don't own a 360, so I've never done it. With printing, though, you just plug your USB printer into the airport and then configure it with the Aiport Utility software to make it available on your wireless network.

Yeah, I just realized that.

Would be b1tchin' to have if you've got the coin for it. Works pretty slick from what I have read. If you want to stay wired I'd steer you towards a Linksys box.

I'll probably do that and see if I can get some cash for that in the future, maybe wait out for like Christmas or something.:csad:

Wireless is especially nice if you've got a laptop that you want to be able to use anywhere around the house or if you keep your gaming system far away from your internet modems to the point that running cabling around your house becomes a pain or a mess. But if you're keeping your X-box right next to your cable/dsl modem, a wired router ought to work just fine.

Yeah, they're like 7 feet apart max so I'm going wired for now. Wireless would be great though. From what I read on the Amazon reviews it works perfect with Apple Airport. I'm really gonna look into investing into that setup.
