The Dark Knight So it looks like the freaks vs. the mob will be a part of TDK...

Seems like allot of stories are cluttering this movie

One thing to consider, is that this a mapped out storyline that is going to carry into another film so things can be spread out.

All the gangs have been pretty much confirmed.

And Raimi wasn't obsessed with putting love interests in his movie. He didn't want Gwynn in there. The producers did, and they won the arguement.

yeah I know that its just easier to say raimi instead of producers- Avi arad
I know the jokers gang is confirmed
I saw the Scarecrow Crew
Obviously theres going to be a Mob involved

so how have we confirmed the David banner Gang?
and how have we confirmed that they are going to be fighting with each other?

thats true, but i don't want them to be so connected that you can't watch them seperatly like Pirate 2 and 3 and the last two matrix movies. they should have maybe one cliffhanger, but not be just a two part movie.

according to a report posted on the BOF forums the other day(dunno if it got posted over here or not), there are going to be different groups vying for control of Gotham in the wake of Carmine Falcone's absence. Including Maroni's operation and this "Czech mob"(Roman Sionis?) and apparently David Banner(wasn't it rumored his character is named Gamble?) will also have a gang(I guess to represent Gotham's hood?) on the 'mob' side. And on the 'freaks' side you have The Scarecrow with his gang and The Joker and his goons.

is anyone else just thrilled that this element is being included in this story?

the only thing I'm not sure about is David Banner's character supposedly running his own outfit, since he isn't exactly a world renowned actor..perhaps they play a small part.
Hell yeah, I would love that!

Like Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi?

i happen to be a huge star wars fan. Empire Strikes Back had one cliffhanger, which was what was going to happen to Han. Harrison Ford wanted to not return for the ROTJ. thats a huge difference from Matrix which pretty much is the first one (which is actually really good) and the other one, which should have been one movie.

Wow, I love this, it's making this movie sound epic, with Bats having to deal with all these guys buying control of Gotham City. I hope the moive runs 2 hours so it doesn't feel to squished together. I believe in Nolan like everyone else says. :woot:

DK2099 :batty:

I do like the idea and it will have to make Batman struggle to stop these gangs and then he is going to have the Joker problem as well. I am sure they will leave it with a cliffhanger if they are planning to make a three.

I don't.

Other film maker's, in other hero movies, have that problem. But Nolan, in all of his films, plays chess, while those "other directors" are playing checkers. :o

True, but even people had faith in Sam Raimi and look what come of Spider-man 3. Too many plots, characters, etc...and it all fell apart.

I think studio interference had a part to play in Spidey 3.

For BB Nolan kept much of the film's vision and concept hidden from WB execs. They had to go to HIS house to see the script and talk about it.

I'm already knowing I'll hate the mob since they won't have those old film noir ganster accents and fedoras.

Dont forget Nolan is Director, Writer aNd Producer on this flick
so we're in for a Treat

raimi did not produce S3
but he worked onthe screenplay

Yes. After B&R WB had to change their tactics with the Batman Franchise. I do think that they have a lot of faith in Nolan/Goyer/Roven because BB delivered well.

I can't wait for TDK. I feel like a kid waiting for Xmas. :yay:

I still feel like there are too many bad guys to develop. Even if Nolan pulls it off the screen time per villian will most likely be shorter which I wouldn't like. Also not crazy about Batman's attention being split. I know it would makes sense in real life but I would really just prefer the focus on one, maybe two bad guys.

I hope there are corrupt cops making deals with the gangs. that corrupt cop in begins couldn't top Porkins though. that guy seemed like just an inferior immitation next to the gritty badass urban fat cop here:

Ha, you don't dig the stereotypical sleazy Italian mobsters a la Carmine Falcone in BB?

well that's actually a point of interest. His cliche mobster act felt out of place in such a modern-ish movie where no one but him was acting like al capone.

Yeah I thought so too. Which is good, cuz I bet Sal "The Boss" Maroni's gonna act very similar.

is anybody else beginning to pick up on the fact that this film is starting to look a lot like a combination of dark victory and the long halloween? the whole norms vs freaks crime thing, the joker as a wildcard, two-face's origin in the midst of a mob-boss trial... theres a a good chance two-face will start killing mobsters (probably not on holidays though).
maybe start looking to those two loeb/sale books for some more clues. We know that Nolan was directly inspired by them for the previous film...

I'd rather JOKER start offing gangsters in this one. Just like Holiday, he should pick ALL but one gang and just start killing them. Killing them in hopes of starting a gang war so they can eliminate themselves, making room for Joker to become top criminal in Gotham.

Harvey Dent, after his transformation, should start offing people ala Hangman in Dark Victory for the third movie. Hang those who HE deems guilty by way of his coin. And Two-Face should hang them all in places that meant something to Harvey Dent. A statue of Lady Justice. A courthouse. His office. His old house.

Get with the times, maaaaaaaaaaan. It's all Eastern European mobs all over the place now, hell we even have them here in li'l ol' Ireland.

In a script I wrote about two years or so ago, I had the Joker starting of as a hitman taking out mobsters around town working for an unknown party. After a while, Joker would go all bananas and start killing at random, Batman takes him down and we end up in court. Here, Joker reveals that the one who gave him the job in the first place was Harvey Dent himself, or rather, Harvey Dent´s other persona. Enter Two-Face and a building rivalry between the two.

Well, even though this is not the case in TDK i was rather pleased with that storyline. The script was called Batman: The Dark Knight too :p
