I don't see much enthusiasm in this movie here and everywhere. Compared to Batman Dark Knight board, this is like comparing NYC and Juneau, Alaska. Marvel needs to step up marketing of Iron Man. Cartoon, posters, comics, action figures to give more familiarization to people or else it's just gonna be called as that "Robo-comic" movie. Perhaps, Marvel has cut the left leg with bad characterization of the guy in the comics? I bet that's just secondary, but primarily Marvel needs to promote more Iron Man.

I just don't think Iron Man is that famous of a super hero. He just doesn't have anywhere near the following some others do.

I disagree myself. The less hype for a film, the better I believe. I loved Spider-Man 3 & I liked Superman Returns, personally speaking ofcourse. But fans across the hype & other internet forums have said that the marketing & hype made it look better. For example,Spider-Man 3, there was enough hype over Venom being in the film. There were Venom TV spots, merchandise, etc. But when fans saw the film, they complained that he was underused. Maybe you do have a point about Iron Man not being as popular as other characters, but I have faith in Favreau; I am quite sure he knows what he's doing. Roll on next year :woot:

I have faith on Favreau, but I don't have faith on Marvel.

Marvel should concentrate more on their core characters (Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Thor) and cut out the fat (Ant Man, Luke Cage, She-Hulk, etc) at least for somewhile until the plane called Iron Man & Hulk takes off because the feasibility of future movies rely on the success of these 2008 movie ventures. They need to pull back mainstay characters Spider-Man and Wolverine/X-Men because these guys stuff will still sell even without any interventions, and place more on guys like Iron Man in good publicity spotlight.

As for SM3, the real fact is the movie stuff still sell and the movie itself has produced a whole lot of money. The movie underwhelming quality is not so important because it's all about the money and SM4 becomes a reality.

The state of the competition:

Seems that Batfans are worried if Dark Knight is not going to rake in $200 million domestically. $200 million. This number is already godsend for Iron Fans. I mean are there really still a significant numbers of Iron Fans after the Civil War in comics?

well we get a teaser in 2 weeks so that should be something :o

The quiet before the storm. :ninja:

wait until the teasers hit in a couple months. Pure pandemonium I tells ya!

I'm hoping everything will turn out alright for Iron Man, regardless of how much hype there is for it.

...the teaser was scheduled to be coming with Transformers last month...you didnt know?

First I've heard of a teaser. Sounds like pure speculation.

However, there will be big IM presence at San Diego ComicCon this year, which is at the end of July. Remember Favreau said he was going to be quiet until then. I think after all the spy photography and such sneaking out, Marvel wants to start controlling their hype a little bit more.

I expect to see some more posters or press photos, maybe even Iron Monger. I'd also expect a teaser of some from to be shown at ComicCon. I wouldn't hold my breath for something attached to Transformers.

I agree the boards have been quite of late, not much really happening, I can understand the Batman boards, they seem to release new pics every other day. The Iron Man boards jump when there is new pics as well, just right now, all's quite on the movie production front.

If you've never heard of Iron Man then sure, even if you have, it's still a year away:csad: . It will pick up, Look at the Hulk, This is the first movie 'do over' and the hype behind that will have to excuse the first one. When this gets to the ground watch out.

Marvel could step up and drop every title going and still wouldn't beat Batman. It's an institution at this point. The bad Batman films still do amazing so TDK board has that and a renewed look and telling. T. Stark is my guy, but I'm waiting for TDK like a mad man also.

Naw, the Civil War stuff ONLY means anything to people who buy comics...regardless of how many go to Con's, were in the small minority, and you have 35+ years of Iron Man adventures to go on, and I don't think people will tie ONE crossover as law for the character.

...And puhlease Mr. Arid, I know money moves you, and I'm likely in the minority, but no more cartoons:whatever: !! They don't last and put the money into other projects.

It's a comic book movie. It's thoroughly connected to the comic source. I bet some happy moviegoers will want to read or sample the comic books. What if that potential fan sees Iron Man comic is different from Iron Man movie and walk off because of the confusion or in disgust of comic Stark?

Another larger issue is there are too many dissenting voices among the Marvel readers and writers. How can we expect a united front (against Batman) if there's a thing like this? You know some guys don't want to see movies about Iron Man because he "kills" Captain America or acts like a jerk (I'm not an avid comic reader so I don't know what exactly happen). Like you said, this won't affect much to the success of the movie but for an newly known franchise it is best to have a good worth of mouth to start with. Dark Knight can ignore a few disgruntled fans, because it has legions of moviegoers in reserve and years of household name. Iron Man has actually lost some of the messengers before the War.

Enjoy the quiet while it last. Besides, expectations are pretty high considering most people think Marvel having control over the movie means anything to the faithfulness of the adaptation.

i think the should put the 90's serioes on dvd that should help him

Batman is filming chicago right now in downtown. A crapload of stuff happens there, of course theres more info. Iron man is filming all over the place.

You can't compare Iron Man to Batman.

Don't worry, Iron man has plenty of hype and I can only guess it'll have more after the teaser hits.

I think it's a mixed bag.

Marvel won't give up on this, because it's too early, and they already sunk a **** load of money into this. However, because it's so early, there's not a whole hell of a lot to discuss.

But something else, too, is that I think Marvel's doing right by easing into this. I mean, think about it. Batman's been in the public eye for almost 40 years now. Superman even longer. What's Iron Man got? A few video game cameos, one game of his own, and a short lived cartoon. Compared to the likes of Spider-Man or Hulk, he's relatively unknown to those who aren't avid comic fans.

Batman is one of the most popular superheros of all time along wth Spider-man, Superman and X-Men. That's why there is a lot more of people in the Batman boards.
