So, uh... Wolverine vs. Thor?

Tieri was talking a lot in that interview about how excited he was to write Thor. Seems kind of silly if Thor's not actually in the story except as a hallucination.

Well, the more I think about it, the more I could see Loki messing with them, making it real based on the preview pages. Oh well. Either way, it'll be irrelevant to me.

Try losing to the Hulk for 50 years without even having a major difference in strength for most of those years to chalk it up to. Thor and the Hulk are supposed to be dead-even in strength, yet Thor still loses to the Hulk every goddamned time.

I see your 5<?> Defeats and raise you 21 Defeats.

Also I see your matching strength and raise you an officers degree in the Air Force vs a child!!

:D

:thing: :thing: :thing:

Over a thousand years of experience fighting physically superior foes against that same child and Thor still loses. :o

Quantity of defeats are probably in the Thing's favor, though. I haven't counted each of their losses up or anything, but I'll take your word for it.

But then it'd just feel like two bullies ganging up on a moron.

You forget:huh: Hulks strength doesn't have a known limit, so if Thor is punching him, all that would do is piss Hulk off even more, an you know what tha means.

Yea but in theory, even a fully enraged Hulk should be sparked out by a full on whack from Mjolnir.

One would have to wonder why Thor and Wolverine would even fight each other anyhow. Aren't they both good guys? I hope it's not going to be one of those "..oh, I fought you by mistake instead of the real bad guy" things and they end up teaming together. It's been done so many times. :(

Na Wolverine would probably be like "Who does this guy think he ****ing is!!" And Thor would be like "Mortal...how dare thee question the righteousness of I, Son of Odin, The Mighty Thor! I shall have words with thee!!"

Well, Wolverine's a dick and can usually incite anyone to punch him at least once.

Here's how it should really take place. Thor backhands Wolverine with his hammer. Wolverine gets a concussion, staggers around for a bit and falls over muttering something about hammers and beer and Thor follows up with a huge ass lightning strike to finish the job. 1-2 pages Max. Best Wolverine fight in a while :D

If Thor backhanded Wolvy with his hammer, wouldn't the little runt end up on the moon? :p Or Scandenavia.....?

Yea true, but Logan woud heal, and come right back for more later. Thats what makes wolverine wolverine, becasue he may get his ass kicked, but he won't quit till the other guy is dead.

Much like most other heroes at this point, Thor would just kill Wolverine if he became a serious problem. Unlike most other heroes, Thor has the power to actually do it pretty easily.

His face would end up on the moon, and the rest of him in Scandinavia.

Does the 616 Thor actually talk like that? Or you just making fun of Jeph Loeb's take on Ultimate Thor? : O

No he does talk like that in most of the stories I've read. But it is obviously better written than how I do it :D

The best I've personally seen it used in recent times was in Matt Fractions Ages of Thunder series. Didn't come off goofy at all and was just sheer bad ass.

Thor does sometimes use older pronouns like "thee," but most writers over the years have gone without them. Stan Lee created Thor using regular pronouns and, in fact, speaking pretty much like a regular, modern-day person. The Don Blake persona still had a lot of influence on Thor's mind in the early days, though, so that may be the reason for his eventual change in speech style.

But he's back to normal pronouns now under JMS, which I'm glad for. Frankly, most writers don't know how to write "ye olde-speak" any better than Knaves, and some write it considerably worse. It's so easy to parody because so many writers have f***ed it up over the years and made Thor come off sounding like a goofy Renaissance Fair actor.
