Up here in New Jersey and New York, I have never heard anyone call it pop. I've heard it in Florida, and Georgia, but never from anyone up north.

I don't really drink that stuff much anymore, but I voted soda anyway, because that's what I always called pop.

I say soda because it sounds proper. In general, I don't like slang terms and "pop" always sounded like slang to me. I always thought the word was a Southern thing but after viewing this thread, I'm not so sure now.

Both names sound funny to me, but I'm from up North, and I'm used to hearing "pop." When I was still living in the South, I said this a couple of times, and people had no idea what I was referring to. Nowadays, I just say the name of the drink.

There's not enough false hostility in this thread. :argh:

you know it was interesting to me. growing up in ohio calling it "pop" i actually thought of things in 2 different catagories...

Cola's, Clears (sprite, sierra mist, 7up), and yellows (mt dew, kick, mellow yellow etc) i all just put in the pop category (not sure if i did that with root beer (it coulda just been root beer to me)

but fruit flavored drinks like.. "orange soda, grape soda, etc..." I considered soda's. infact... any carbonated fruit drink like that i considered a soda.

To me Soda is an old term, stemming from the "soda jerk", where they simply poured you a glass of soda then added the flavor to it.

It's soft drink, you fools!!!

Soda is short for soda water which is a mixer which you add to juices and cordials to bust out the fizz...

Pop is what happens just before you realise you need to reconsider your fibre intake...

Carbonated water.
In NYC we call it Seltzer water, though Seltzer is actually a brand name so it's kind of like calling all soda's Coke.

I say let's take a page from Superman TAS, when Bibbo the Dockmaster calls it Soder

Actually, I think the show had billboards in Metropolis advertising Soder :wow:

Soder is apparently a brand of soda in the DCU. I've seen and heard it mentioned a few times.

I figured it must have been, I started to catch on during my recent re-watching of Superman DVDs

Owls drink soda. They look upon pop with disdain and contempt. Be like an owl my friends.

No, that's a totally unrelated question.

Well, kind of related because I was just curious about the size.

Considering that they'd likely have kidneys as big as your torso, the stones could get to be quite large.

Just call it Tab. Never leave the 70s.

Dude bro, I get winded jogging for the bus and you expect me to jump like I'm Mario Mario?

I know. I just like seeing the disappointment.
