I just noticed when I put gas in my car, a sign outside the gas station read, "Soda sold here"....I have NEVER seen that kind of sign in front of a store in Texas.

I just started laughing...

"Soda Sold Here"

I'm sure you appreciated the tip, Kel :funny:

When's the last time you ever heard someone say "gelatin" instead of "Jell-O", regardless of what brand it was?

I totally appreciated it....I mean, I don't think Soda is sold anywhere in Texas.....lol Drinks are sold in Texas.....but honestly, first I heard of Sodas....lol

They only say Jell-O in entertainment when they don't want to pay the Jell-O people.

yeah but Jell-O is like 95% if not more of the market shares of gelatin.. i mean how many people really even know of another brand?

kleenex is sorta the same way. It's Coke as a company is pretty much equal in size with pepsi.. and each company houses many different popular drinks. so it's not really the same thing.

Eh. I've never really said ''I need Kleenex." I just usually say ''Hand me a tissue."

For the bathroom stuff it's toilet paper, for the kitchen it's paper towels.

well none the less we say jell-0 for all gelatin because well.. that's really the only brand we know that makes it.. and lets face it. it's appealing to say.

True. Even when buying the knock off stuff for my mother sometimes she still called it jell-o.

Soda has always sounded so girly to me. Pop just...."pops." It's basically saying, "I'm not sugarcoating it, I know what I am, and what I want."

Soda is the damn word, Terry. Accept it.

Pop is a freezer item for god sake.

Coke is a brand.

I never said Kleenex either. I usually say tissue though I always use Kleenex.

Its the opposite for me. When I hear "pop" I think of a 1940's house wife.

I say coke..... (which is ok, because that is what I drink)

I say kleenex for tissue....

I say Jello-O...

I say go xerox it....

I say Krogers rather than Kroger.... (have no idea why)

And guess what? I still love myself....

well considering Soda is dated as older... and the term "pop" even as music wasn't even around then... that's a very odd association lol.

Pop ftw.

Baking soda is soda. Pop is a delicious carbonated drink.

Pop is what I do when I crack my fingers....

Poppiddypop POP! POP!

I call it "cola"...even if it's cream soda; just about the only cola I drink.

I get what JP is saying though. I also think of the 1950s when I hear "pop".

And when i hear soda I think of soda fountain, like sock hops and greasers and all that there.
