Question 1: What Plot Points from Goblet of Fire were in the Shooting script of the movie?

I ask b/c I hear that there was LOTS cut from the movie and that if everything shot was left in, there would have been enought for two movies.

I also ask b/c I have heard that the UK got a nearly three hour Version of GoF(approx 170 min) while we in the US got a Shorter (152 min) take of the film. Can anybody confirm or deny this??

Question 2: What Plot points and events from the Book (OOTP or Book 5) should be in the movie? And How long should it be? (I think it should be 3hrs long)

Question 1: Dursleys were left out,not really really a plot point, but alot of characters were cut out. Including Cedric's girlfriend (whom Harry also has a crush on) who's name escapes me right now.

I think Fred and George made a bet with some other guy during the Quidditch game at the beginning. Something about how the Irish would lose but would catch the snitch.

That's all I can really remember. It's been a while since I've read the book. :o

And I can't answer the second question,I have yet to finish the fifth book.

You are wrong, Cedric's girlfriend was in the movie, that was Cho, the asian girl at the Owlery.

They left out the House elves and S.P.E.W. where Hemonie story were strong, but not sure that big to the plot.

Left out Charlie, older Weasleys, which I think might play big later on. Charlie marries Fleur in book 6, they met at the Tounament.

Yeah I know the Dursleys were out but were there any scenes with them that they just cut out for pacing purposes? I have heard that there were a lot more scenes that were taken out

Ludo Bagman. That's another scene in question. I curious if they actually shot the actual game of the Quidditch World Cup and just nixed it.

i doubt they's have spent the money on such an expensive scene and not shown it.

Well, the deleted scenes on the DVD has the full song played by the band at the Ball. Very cheesy, but kinda catchy.

I dont remember what else, but apparently nothing memorable.

Guys. I know What was Left out from the Book, I read it. I want to know what from the Book was filmed and was cut due to pacing issues. (from what I hear, the movie would have been 4+ hrs)

It has happened before numerous times with other movies. Why would it be different here?

I have the DVD and I saw those scenes you refer to. Those aren't all the deleted scenes in the movie and from what I hear would probably amount a fraction of all deleted material from GoF.

They don't get married in the sixth book either, they're just engaged. I'm not sure what didn't make the cut, but I know the Dursleys didn't end up on the cutting room floor because in an interview the actors said they wouldn't be in the fourth film. I also don't think any extra Sirius scenes were left on the cutting room floor.

Yeah but the Dursleys will be back for the 5th film. Cause of the Demenators attack and the trial. I also hope they film the Order "popping in" to grab harry from the Dursleys home.

    The R2 is 151 minutes and R1 157 minutes.
The movie is 4 minutes shorter then the second one. The second movie is 155 (R2) and 161 (R1).

Look here for a review of the R1 from Goblet of fire:

    http://dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=60799

There isn´t a R2uk review on this moment, but this one is also 152 minutes and the only difrents is that there haven another future with rowling and Mike Newell,The R1 (and some other R2 also) have Reflections On The Fourth Film,R2uk not. Strange enough this time the Dutch and Belgium version (Dinfrents disc 1) also don´t get that extra with rowling and directer and previous 3 movie´s get that. But all 2 disc dvd´s have delete scene´s. But this time you can´t choose for one for and is it one thing from a litle bit more then 9 minutes for R2 and more then 10 minutes for R1. With that R1 review,i understand that the R2 must missing a delete scene (who is very importent),why Dumbeldore dore trust Snape, between Snape (Rickman) and Dumbeldore (Gambon) and why Snape hate Harry. Things from book 5 & book 6.

I have the Dutch dvd since the release date (04 April´06),but i haven´t seen it yet,so i can´t give my opnion about Goblet of Fire.

The only thing what i can say is that i hope that don´t skip Dobby (Voice: Toby Jones) again. I know that he wasn´t (delete together with his girlfriend) in this Goblet of fire movie. I also hope that the guy from the second movie returns (but iam afraid that there delete that scene or the whole scene with the greanmother of Neville.) and that chacter from the first movie, there have a part in the fift movie. The last one is very importent because he have something to do with the chacter of Emma Thompson.

Me too. I forget if it lead anywhere though. What did she accomplish with that? I can't remember.

They left out the winky elf who really sent up voldemort's dark mark at the tournament.

They also left out the details about how Barty escaped from azkaban.

Let's not forget about what the hell Priori Incantartum is... I'm done with these movies if they don't care enough to explain their own story enough.

I agree on the 3hr length. The franchise is big enough now to warrant more time since it's proven to be a big box office money maker despite being about 2hrs and 30mins in length. What's an extra 30mins? Look at lotr too.

I think they should add a sex scene between Ron and Hermione, or Harry and Ginny.

These guys are teens now, they MUST be thinking about it...

Haven't heard of anything notable that was shot and not put in. Apparently in early screenings, there was a shot of Mad Eye's foe glass that showed Dumbledore, etc. coming to the room at the end (instead, they sort of pop out of nowhere at the convenience of the plot). The Dursleys were cut from the beginning. The actors made a big hissy-fit when they weren't asked to come back.

You should find whoever sold you that load about the Uk getting a longer version and fight him/her.

As far as stuff from the book, I kinda miss Harry giving the Triwizard Cup money to Fred & George. There could've been a better explanation of a few things.

I would love to see the Quidditch World Cup Match - that would have been great. I would also love to see how the other GoF champions did in their dragon challenge.

I have not had a chance to read the book (GoF) yet (I know, freak of the week), but did they go into detail on how each contestant defeated their dragons?

Why exactly didn't they shoot all this extra material, just like Jackson did and then release Extended Cuts of the movie. They would sell like Pokémon in 1998 that's for sure. It seems kinda dumb to me, coz the movies seem really, really rushed and that's why a friend of mine who's a fan of the book refuses to see the movies, coz she will only be disappointed.
