Some of the DBZ cast

They better get a good actor for Krillin. He' my favorite character from the whole series.

!!! You're serious? Krillin IS Goku's Best friend! That's like not having Sam or Merry or Pippin.

Tien...maybe, they gotta atleast refer to when he "beat" Goku at the tournament.
Or like Harry Potter not having Ron.
Krillin will have to be one of the main characters.

A live action film of DBZ can't really deliver the magic of the show. We already know they've changed a lot of things for this movie to make the story more "realistic". :cmad:
Many fans around the world are not happy with these changes and with some casting decisions. James Marsters is a good actor, I like his work, but I don't think he's the right choice for Piccolo, who should be played by an actor with an imposing presence, etc.
A CGI film would've been a better option for DBZ, allowing more freedom to keep it true to the show and more consistent visually (better FX).

This takes place when Goku's young, right? So is Marsters playing Piccolo or King Piccolo? 'Cause I wouldn't mind him as the latter.

Someone suggested that they could do what they did in Lord of the Rings for Krillin. Just cast and actor and make him look Krillin's size. But really, I won't be too disappointed if Tien wasn't in the movie, but if Krillin didn't show up, then yeah i'd be disappointed. He atleast needs a cameo.

I know this is kind of jumping the gun, but does anyone else think that Jason Lee (My Name is Earl, Alvin and the Chipmunks) could play Mr. Satan? I kind of get the vibe; I blame the mustache.

Hell no. I'm not a fan of real wrestlers in movies, but everytime I saw Mr. Satan, I pictured Hulk Hogan. He resembles him. Just dye his facial hair black like he did in his WCW NWO days, put on an afro wig and there you have it. They even sound the same based on the voices from the Cartoon Network versions.

Ok i have to admit I am worried about this movie for mny different reasons

1) The Director James Wong isnt that great of a director and afeter seeing the one We all know he sucks with action and cgi

2) The 1st picks havent done anythng to impress me. Goku has big spikey hair not a damn mullet!

3) they started filiming in December for a summer 2008 release???? NO if they started filming now the film shouldnt be released until summer 2009

Despite my jeers towards this film I hope it is great. I REALLY want it to be successful. when the teaser or trailer comes out in March I want to be surprised and impressed with it as I was with The Dark Knight trailer

And not a very funny one at that. :cmad:

I'm too psyched and hyped for this movie now. If it were to be denied to me...!! :supersaiyan:

Can't wait for a Dragon Ball smiley. :woot:

I don't think anyone at SSH takes this film all that seriouslyand based on its source material, I wouldn't.

Based on the source material? Dragonball started off as manga which is equivalent to american comics or more like graphic novels . I see no reason why the film shouldn't be taken seriously... seriously meaning that people should care that the film is good. Dragonball is more comedic but it's no less silly an idea than American comic book heroes.

I've been a fan of the Dragonball series (except for GT) for as long as I have been a DC or Marvel fan. Most people know the cartoon network version of Dragonball Z so they don't have an accurate understanding of how great it is. When Americans think Dragonball... they think Dragonball Z and fast aerial energy blast fights.

I think the movie will be based on late Dragonball and not so much Z. The casting and synopsis info would make a lot if that is the case and I would actually prefer it that way. I'm glad that Stephen Chow is producing and I hope he gives a lot of input. If you know his movies, you can see how well he could adapt Dragonball's humor and fighting onto film. If you don't know his films, check out Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle, etc. His films are fun to watch.

I gotta admit. The casting has been pretty weird, but I think the movie could work well. I wonder if they're going to have a CGI Pilaf, since I read Mai will be in it. I don't think the casting has been terrible, but they were just unexpected. I do see how each choice could work though. After reading Emily's interview, it sounds like the movie is on a good track. Bulma with guns is definitely Dragonball. I don't think DBZ would work that well on film except as pure action.

With 100 million dollar budget, I`m hoping the special effects in this movie will be very good

20th Century Fox and 100 million dollar budget means that corners will be cut and the movie will be rushed so it can be out by August.

Negative, negative, negative, give the freaking movie a chance!!

The casting isn't bad at all and with todays technology they can make any kind of movie, stop crying!!
