Superhero films could benefit from good mainsteam songs attached to them.

Spider-Man I had "Hero" and that song was a huge hit, along with "Vindicated" for Spider-man 2

Daredevil had "Wake Me Up Inside" and that song became a bigger hit than the film.

But Superman didnt go the mainsteam route with its soundtrack, the only semi-known track was this:

I'm hoping for a more uplifting track for the sequel along the lines of this:

What genres of music do you want to see attached to Superman MoS? Examples are welcome.

just timberlake "im a man (of steel)"

I don't think the score was a problem. Eh

I would like to see a few more variations of Williams theme worked in that offer an obvious take on it.

a takeoff of Billy Joel's "Piano Man":

"Sing us a song of the Superman
Sing us a song tonight
For we're all in the mood for a super-fight
And Lois and Clark every night..."

J/K.

Knowing singar, probably some romance songs, Like Aladdins a "whole new world".

lol...its like you guys play Singer on a regular basis....damn you make him sound like such a loser

Okay, here's a different way to go (BR drooling-thread fans, get ready to laugh!):

Lois is in a mood. Jimmy and Clark go out with her after work - some local, fun joint - and try to talk with her and cheer her up. She has a few drinks, then grabs Clark's hand and pulls him onto the dance floor. He protests all the way, then tries to go along with it by dancing - but not as wildly as she's doing.

The song playing at the time?
Sir Mix-a-Lot - "I like big butts..."

Yes, Lois should sing along. And stare at Clark. And make him wonder how to respond. Yes, he should dance, and not too horribly (forget Reeve's DP here - think Reeve's Clark dancing with Lana at their reunion). Make her wonder.

LOL.:)

No songs, just keep it all 'scores'. I'm sick of all the Marvel films using 'Rock, Pop' etc music. They just ****e them selves out to anyone, without regards to if the song and the artist are right for the film.

Hero is the exception to the rule IMO.

Look at Batman Begins. Did that need a BIG singer or band to dot eh soundtrack. Nope. Nor does superman. Singer didn't use them for his X-Men films, he wont use them for his superman sequel.

If he did, just make sure that the song is relevant to the film, and that the artist provides the right vocal sound to it.

Those songs were crap, though, and in the case Daredevil, actually hurt the film.

Nothing dates a film quicker than a mainstream soundtrack.

I think that characters such as Superman and Batman should only feature scores to give them a timeless and epic feel.

My thoughts too. While the occasional song can be used to good effect in a movie (whether it be comic based or not) most of the time it is a distraction that pulls you out of the movie into the worldof pop culture oversaturation.

"Can You Read My Mind" is a song.

And Margot's rendition in the movie is one of it's low points in my opinion. The song itself (I forget who actually released it as a single) is decent enough....but Lois singing it in her head in the movie almost ruins a beautiful scene.

Yup.

The song was recorded by Maureen McGovern, it's much better than the Kidder reading.

I think it works fine for CB movies such as Daredevil or Blade, but even Spiderman should have classical music. Most epics outside the realm of CB movies are also better suited with a score, I agree.

That was such a great sequence in STM, and it was ruined by that poem/song. Superman Returns got that part right.

ok transformers was epic as **** and it had music in it so why cant superman, as long as its played in the right moments it shouldnt be a problem.
