Sony 2014 E3 Press Conference

So should we be getting full info on Playstation Now and the Virtual Reality thing??

Full info as in release date and pricing? Highly doubtful. Both of those things, VR in particular, seem like they're still a ways off. In fact, outside of a quick mention, I'm not expecting Sony to address them at all.

Well not release dates or pricing,I meant like videos explaining and showing more on how they work and what they can do

Whats everyones thought on the Project Morpheus thing? I saw some shark attack demo and was SUPER intrigued. Im not sure im buying into the whole VR thing yet, but that little demo looked pretty damn neat.

If it's going to succeed, which is a long shot, it needs to have dedicated support from a first-party studio. They can't just release it and hope developers buy into it on their own like the Move.

I think VR has a better chance at success with the Oculus Rift because I see it as much bigger than gaming. You probably won't get virtual tourism or anything like that on the Morpheus.

Thanks for the link Pat,I appreciate it.

Is the Rift still in very early development or is a release time frame near by?,Who's behind it?,I've read bits about it but no idea who's developing/what it can do/when it may be released/etc

It's not in early development but there's no consumer release on the horizon as far as we know. Just 2 generations of dev kits so far. John Carmack, the creator of Doom, is the head of the project now but it was founded by some guy named Lucky.

I've heard nothing but glowing reactions from people who have tried Morpheus and The Rift, so I'm very intrigued.

I'm highly interested in that. There is so much potential and it seems so fun.

That shark demo did seem pretty cool,I wonder if you can hook it up to the tv so people can hear&see what you are doing while also using any headset style when going solo with the device

I don't know if it's this product or another entirely but I keep hearing how you can only use the thing for like 30 min before you start feeling sick.

So PS Now lets you stream PS1,2 and 3 games to play on your PS4 right? How about the discs you have on previous PS consoles?

It's a streaming system not a BC software in that sense.

It's unclear if the PS4 could support PS3 games locally, though Sony is probably experimenting with that like Microsoft is.

I doubt they would implement that if they could, since they still want to move some PS3's. No one is going to buy a PS3 if they can buy a PS4 that can play PS3 games.

There are reports that Sony is working on local backwards compatibility for PS1 and PS2 games, because the PS4 is actually powerful enough to brute force emulate them. Obviously they're not going to be worried about the PS4 hurting PS2 sales. So, there might be a chance there.

Sony is fine with the PS4 having backwards compatibility, the reason why the PS4 can't play PS3 games all comes down to cost. They did a horrible job in designing the PS3 and when they made the PS4 more developer friendly, they made a machine that just really can't do PS3 games locally. Adding in PS3 compatibility would have increased the cost by at least $100 due to parts like the Cell microprocessor CPU and Nvidia RSX Reality Synthesizer and would have increased the heat inside the PS4. And the PS3 software is just going to be difficult to emulate due to the hardware that it was designed for.

I'm sure that Sony will eventually create a PS3 emulator to locally play PS3 games the way Microsoft is trying to do with the Xbox One with 360 games, but they're going to have a more difficult time with it.

I guess I won't stream Uncharted trilogy on PS4 then. I never played PS1 or PS2 games so I just stream them instead.

Although it probably wont happen, I really hope we hear an announcement of a LittleBigPlanet PS4 edition. Thats a series I feel needs to make the jump to the system as it has wide range appeal. The thing is Im not sure how they can top themselves following LBP2 as that did so much and last I heard, MM did not want to make another game. Still, I think Sony should considering making a new one, even if they have to get the guys that did the Vita version to make it as I read that one was quite good

Another gem from last gen, I want resurrected is Loco Rocco. I loved that on the PSP and wouldn't mind seeing it as a PSN title with Crossbuy across the Sony platforms.

Was anything more ever heard about that Crash Bandicoot rumour?

I would love a LBP 3 announcement or at least ModNation Racers 2 but only IF they make the characters and vehicles bigger
