Some good stuff on here about Spider-Man and Marvel. Anyone find anything?

Are we even allowed to post those?

I mean it's online we should be able to discuss it. But just search marvel or civil war or Spider-Man there's like thousands of emails on there.

Apparently Sony thought Fox was leasing Silver Surfer for Avengers 2. So much inside information in these leaks.

So I'm guessing Marvel gave Sony a unlimited app because their going over Spider-Man appearance in Civil War in a group email

There are too many story lines and we need to choose which ones we are focusing on and lift out the other ones, ie; could reduce father arc to just Roosevelt?

Could cut out plane crash and Richard destroying spiders and start on armored car – don’t start with Spider-Man….let the danger/stakes to NYC build first and then have Spider-Man enter the scene heroically.

Tone down Paul Giamatti performance, so he seems a bit more menacing and less cartoonish.

If you cut Richard from the opening and the plane crash maybe you could instead do Harry coming home and seeing Norman at the top of the movie as a cold open.

Really love Electro – feels like you may not need the scene in his apartment, which makes him seems completely crazy and hard to relate too.

Like the idea that eel goes in his mouth and instead of burrowing, you see it glow within him…

Need to set up the Power Plant earlier, visually.

Seems like the movie switches pov’s a lot…why are we in Max’s pov during the car chase, worth looking at this playing out from Spidey’s pov.

There could be a better way to reveal that Peter is missing graduation – maybe when you cut Gwen you cut to the wide shot?

Tiny note – don’t think Peter would lie to Gwen about sirens --- maybe he just downplays it…

Stan Lee Cameo – maybe need a little more emphasis on Peter here trying to get out of his costume and not be in seen…set up a little more the pressure of the principal getting closer and closer to calling his name.

Instead of seeing the ghost of Captain Stacy, can just here the voice in Peter’s head and maybe flash back to the last movie? Don’t think we should add Cap Stacy back into car chase.

There is too much back and forth with Peter and Gwen – can we recut the Dim Sum scene so that it doesn’t feel so repetitive of their break-up in the last movie – Can Peter be more honorable and definitive and less wishy-washy?

Why do we need a year to pass…

Harry story feels like the main plot of the movie – Peter should look into the past b/c of Harry – maybe find some photos of them together as kids…use obsession wall more to set up this part of his past not just what happened to parents.

Not sure what Peter learns at Roosevelt is entirely correct. We’re distracted by the idea that Peter became Spider-Man b/c of his father’s blood --- all this special back story with his super-scientist dad fights with the idea that Peter is normal kid from Queens who becomes the greatest super-hero in the world…

Andrew’s performance is all over the place…a lot of crying and then a lot of mania. Hard to track him emotionally sometimes. It undermines his reaction to Gwen’s death b/c he gets upset and emotional a lot.

Don’t like the idea that May tells Peter his parents were spies b/c two seconds later he finds out they are not and it again fights with the idea that he’s an ordinary kid.

Like the idea that May finds out he’s Spider-Man – finds his costume instead of just the rosemary harris wink-wink all the time.

Kind of like the morgue, but hate the dancing mortician – cliché.

Are you using VFX to show how Electro is travelling from one point to another (bursts of electricity).

Need to underscore capture of goblin…more sirens as you linger on the clock 1;21, 1:22 am (nice touch).

Surveillance scene should be about following Harry not Peter…no one should be following Peter.

Can Electro hum Itsy-Bitsy Spider before he plays it electronically…maybe we can use this again.

Maybe intercut the ending montage and hearing Gwen’s speech with someone going into special projects and revealing more easter eggs and see that the rhino case has been broke into and the suit is missing…great way to transition to rhino ending.

Don’t need Aunt May in the kitchen.

Spider-man needs to feel more directly responsible for preventing the planes from crashing.

Don’t show New Yorkers looting.

Kevin Feige's feedback on what seems like a cut of ASM2? Totally spot on I think.

Another funny one is some Sony people prepping for a lunch with Kevin Feige. Their ideas are so ridiculous they ask each other should we mention this or that.

Just search Feige it's funny they FWD all the emails about him to each other about how he transformed marvel lol

Didn't he say that he thought "a great job has been done with Spider-Man so far?" I'm confused.. maybe I'm mixing things up.

Things to ask Kevin

THINGS TO ASK KEVIN:
Obviously about what is the genie Sin SIx unless from Pandora that they have to put back in the bottle.as discussed, I'm worried dr. strange may also be exploring the characters ability to manipulate dimensions and parallel worlds. Maybe ask Kevin to tell you about Dr. Strange (JULY /8/16)…since they come out before sin six or the lisa joy we have to be careful about any possible similarities?curious what the movie they have scheduled btw dr. strange and guardian s 2 is , Untitled Marvel on 5/5/17…i would ask him what he thinks about recasting, he talks about it the press vis a vis Ironman but hasn't really done it with a main character (except the hulk, but those movies weren't that big)i also don't know if you ever told him about the animation idea or feel ready to.

I agree with a lot of Fiege's comments but not all of it.
I think the biggest flaw of ASM2 is too much of the movie is happenstance and not enough is organic story telling.

He did, but his comments in the email reads more like constructive criticism rather than contradicting himself.

I'm just starting to dig into Spider Woman emails

Hi. If you are reading and on vacation just put your phone down and we can discuss when you are done.

Is Brian reacting to a "Spider-Girl" idea you have or is he responding to the latest news on Ghostbusters/female news?

If it's Ghostbusters, please know that we have a deal in play already with Mattel on Ghostbusters and not Hasbro.

That's it. I do hope your on vacation and enjoying yourself. -G.

damn, can anyone pm me the emails?

sorry, would do it myself but busy at work

He did, but his comments in the email reads more like constructive criticism rather than contradicting himself.
But it doesn't seem like he would feel a "great" job has been done with Spidey so far.

But yeah, thanks for the correction

They forward a lot articles from comic sites to each other. Like 7 ways to expand the Spider-Man universe

Cheat Sheet for X-Men post credit scene

Cheat sheet if you talk to Jim G. re X-men

Potential talking points in case they’re helpful:

1) Deal was brokered by Tom so Jim could pull the piece without looking like he went back on a deal.

2) The piece currently looks like it’s part of Spidie.

3) Exhibitors will be unhappy if this smells like a “trailer”.

4) There needs to be some sort of intro/bridge to tell the audience it’s X-men. Possible ideas (Fox can suggest alternatives, too):

· Enhance and make the “X” on the door more readable. Right now, the door slams into an “X” and a dial turns to lock the door but it’s hard to read that the X is an indication of “X-men”.

· Add copy on-screen saying something like: “a special look at X-men: Days of Future Past“.

(note: it shouldn’t say “coming soon” since Spidie will still be in theatres when X-men comes out).

· Add audio saying something like “a special look at X-men: Days of Future Past”.

(note: in the deal, we said no audio, but we could change our minds)

Michael Marshall, John Naveira and I are happy to provide more info if you need it. Thx.

Nobody is gonna mention the fact that Feige's number is in one of the e-mails?

Spider-Woman to be fierce like Twilight

>> Let me work w your guys early. Real opportunity but don't want dark knight or similar.
>>
>> This can be your branded twilight, femme fierce franchise. Can share our global research findings. Just conducted proprietary research on the modern girl/woman
.

There's so many emails for everything I search I keep jumping from topic to topic

It's funny how they talk about people with negative reviews of Amazing Spider-Man 2

So busy reading the body your right everyone phone numbers are in these emails. They must've changed them by now though

LoL

Michael,

You can see that there are a lot of stories on the internet saying we are in discussions about Spider-Man returning to Marvel. Some of the mainstream press is also asking about this. Have you seen this? Any idea how this could be assumed by the press? Obviously, this could be a problem.

Best,

Ike

Drew Goddard negotiations
Drew Goddard

I just spoke with Julien (he said that he left word for you as well), who says that they have reached a deal with Marvel. He's waiting for written confirmation tomorrow. But if there are no surprises then Julien says that they'll be prepared to re-engage with us on Sinister Six within the next couple of days.

Mm

Drew Goddard

Since were now closed with drew -- I'd like to reach out to him and make sure he come to our f+f on dec 7th -- any objections?

Drew Goddard

Just updating — I gave our counter to Julien earlier today, and he'll discuss with Drew.

I realized Doug, that you'd asked, regarding the possessory credit question, whether or not Marc Webb has been accorded a film by on ASM1 or 2 — the answer is no. But Marc also didn't have a film by credit on 500 Days of Summer (not unexpected since it was his first feature).

But keep in mind that Drew did receive a film by credit on Cabin in the Woods, and had in his Martian deal a film by credit for that picture — which obviously hasn't been made. That's the basis for his ask on Sinister 6.

In responding to Julien today, he asked again, so I wanted to get your thoughts before giving an answer.

What do you think?

mm

Drew Goddard

I spoke with David Galluzzi who is the ba exec handling the Goddard negotiations. He didn't know for sure whether Ike is keeping us informed or alternatively, suggesting that there is something we could do to help solve the open issues between Marvel and Goddard.

Galluzzi will check with Ike to confirm and then come back to me with an answer. And if it is a suggestion regarding what we can do to potentially be helpful, that will be articulated to us.

It does sound however like Drew is insisting not just for $250K in connection with the initial season of the show, but also payments for the second and potentially subsequent seasons as well.

As soon as I know more, I'll pass it along.

Mm

Any phone numbers have almost certainly been changed by now. Not to mention if they didn't change them right away, after one or two calls from random people they would have caught on. ;)
