We all know you're super thrilled for Tom Holland's Spider-Man to show up in a hyper-violent and gory Venom movie, Harry.
Yes, because Spider-Man has never been in a hyper violent comic before, especially concerning the Symbiotes :whatever: Don't let the MCU take fool for you

exactly right.plus who wouldn't be excited for possibilty of spider-man showing up in venom film.makes more sense than doing venom film with no spider-man at all in film.

if spider-man can be equilvent of stark in venom it makes tolerating stark in homecoming very bearable.

 I'll tolerate Stark if it means we get the REAL Spider-Man after Homecoming. And I have no problem with Venom not interacting with the larger MCU, in fact, I prefer it.

Something that works in a niche medium like comic books doesn't automatically mean success in a medium like film, which tends to hit a wider range of demographics.

Spider-Man has transcended his comic book roots to become a pop culture icon. Kids love Spider-Man without having to ever pick up a comic book. I believe he is the most profitable superhero of all time. Studios are more inclined to tap into that sort of mass-appeal with characters like this, than they are to cater to a demographic as limited as comic book fans. It's not comparable to a character like Wolverine.

I have the first issue that Carnage ever showed up. I am more than aware that Spider-Man, in the comics, has taken on violent serial killers. I am aware that he has been bloodied and beaten. That works fine when you're catering specifically to people who read comic books.

I am also aware that Spider-Man sells huge with children, and I do not see any scenario where Sony alienates that entire demographic just for the sake of throwing him into Avi Arad's stupid pet project. It stands to reason that they'd want to market Spider-Man's inclusion in a Venom film. How would that go?

"Spider-Man is in this movie. I'm sure your kids are thrilled. But don't take them, parents! This is super violent and gory, 'cause Deadpool and Logan!"

Actually, I take that back. Avi Arad is stupid enough to try that. Nevermind.

agreed.i am sure some around here would have supported spider-man popping into venom if it was a pure MCU film.but no since venom is pure sony film.

wolverine prior to logan was always in pg-13 films.and let's remember kids are getting their spider-man in 2018 in infinity war so why not show later in year 15 to 20 minutes of spider-man in r rated venom.venom not spider-man will be the one causing r rated mahem in this film.

Lol millions of Kids saw Deapool. Venom is hugely popular with teens. Let Spidey take on a bat**** crazy Venom. The beauty of the character is that he works with both light & fun & dark & serious. He can bounce between both seamlessly. Sony are not afraid to show Spider-Man in a serious movie (TASM which definitely wasn't aimed towards small kids like Homecoming)

And Holland keeps saying his Spider-Man is based on the Ultimate version. Well, remember what that Venom was like?

So does this placate the people who had an issue with a solo Venom film and wanted it to be a flop solely because it wasn't part of the MCU?

I mean, I'd assume not, but was wondering.

I mean I don't want it to flop, but I just wasn't interested in seeing it in theaters unless it's in the MCU.

I have doubts on this though considering Feige just created the sequel to the Sad Affleck meme - he looked baffled.

Video of Feige & Pascal confirming it

Feige doesn't exactly confirm it. He sits there silently when Amy Pascal does all the talking. And when asked if Tom Holland could pop up in these movies, it is Amy who answers. Feige just grits his teeth and smiles in agreement but says nothing. It's not even a duchenne smile but more of a grin and bear it smile.

The feeling I got from feige is oh Amy said it now I have to agree

I bet there is no sign of Spider-Man in either script, but as long as fans think it's possible it puts those movies in a better light.

Them rushing into making as many spin offs as possible doesn't exactly speak good things for how spidey fits in.

Yeah I agree. Feige looked blind sighted by that clueless dope's comments. She knows nothing about the MCU and how it works. Have you read her emails? She's a moron. She made those statements with Kevin present to try and make these rushed cash-in projects look respectable. The MCU has never rushed anything and carefully planned each step.

But who knows maybe some behind the scenes discussions have happened? Sony trying to save face and Marvel trying to keep their hands on Spidey's secondary characters? At best I think we could get a Defenders situation where the shows are "in the MCU" but not REALLY in the MCU.

I disagree! I'd love to see Spider-Man show up in an R-rated Venom, and I think it'd be a smart move. It'd really shake the character up and breathe some new life into him. If the movies good that is..

It works like this:

Venom exists in Homecoming's continuity indirectly tying it o the MCU

Marvel might not have much (if any) control over whether they do.
They don't.

Since they are kinda sharing Spider-Man right now they may have a little more say then you think.

With Venom Sony probably can do what they want but with Spider-Man here might be a little more restriction since marvel are using him too.

except all reports suggest deal goes like this

for allowing new rebooted spider-man in civil war marvel agrees to produce homecoming for sony.reports say sony fianced homecoming.rothman had to sign off on holland and civil war

sony allows spider-man in infinity war and it's sequel and in return marvel will produce sequel for sony

marvel has little choice here.sony keeps film rights.homecoming allows them to further phase 3 and if spider-man becomes more well received disney can make more off of spider-man merchandize which they control.

This  They get final say over every decision.

So is Tony Revelori eventually going to become Venom? Because he looks like he could give Tom Hardy a run for his money on the intimidation front:

Maybe we'll even get Venom vs Venom, or one of them will become Anti-Venom.

Who do you think would win in a fight? I'm guessing everyone will vote for Revelori.
