Meanwhile the daughter of Captain America is back on the streets of the MC2 Universe - in a world racked with crime and despair, can even AMERICAN DREAM keep hope alive? Here's your chance to get in on the ground floor and see why Spider-Girl has the most dedicated fans of all!
40 PGS./Rated A ...$3.99

Oh, we all know this going to fail again. Hell, it'll be nothing short of a miracle if can manage to last half as long as the previous books. With the way many of the ongoings get it now, this book may not make it five issues. Especially since she has a back-up featuring a character I'm sure only a select few really care about

But let us enjoy it. Let us talk about it.

It won't. May Day's worse than She Hulk when it comes to getting cancelled.

Well, I've been on the book now for about 8 years... with no end in site, so as long as Marvel keeps giving her a crack at a monthly appearance, I'll buy it... during pre-OMD times, a lot of people on these boards would argue that it's the BEST Spider-Book on the market, because it had that classic Spider-Man feel...

:yay:

Maybe it's the creative team, but it certainly has that 80's Spider-Man feel. :yay:

Oh snapple, Spider-Girl and American Dream? Definitely gonna get this.

Spectacular, huh? They're running out of titles for Spider-Girl's relaunches.

Spider-Girl
Amazing Spider-Girl
Spectacular Spider-Girl.

How long before she blows through Sensational Spider-Girl, Web of Spider-Girl, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Girl, and Mayday Parker: Spider-Girl?

I've just noticed something? The hell is going on with Mayday's Leg? That's some freaky ballerina **** there. :wow:

She's super flexible, comes with the powers ;)

Yeah, I have no illusions about this lasting more than a year or two, but as manofbat said, they keep trying and I'll keep staying. Just wish the Punisher didn't have to be there to kick this one off, blech. Unless it's FrankenCastle :awesome:

Here are the details that Tom DeFalco provided on the new Spectacular Spider-Girl monthly from the Spider-Girl Message Boards:

Hi, Gang!

Here’s the deal on the new Spectacular Spider-Girl monthly…

1) The first issue is 40 pages for $3.99…but future issues will be 22 pages for $2.99.

2) Spider-Girl’s adventures will continue in Marvel Digital.

3) She’ll also appear in print in SPECTACULAR (although the 11th story—the one tht comes out in April—will still appear in WEB.)

4) With the excepting of our first issue, each issue of SPECTACULAR will contain…1) A lead Spider-Girl story…2) An all-new MC-2 back-up…and 3)a one-page Little Bengy story. (Alas, he won’t appear in the first issue!)That’s a whole lot of story for $2.99 because you guys are WORTH IT!

If you want this comic, I suggest you put it on your pull list. Comic book retailers rarely stocked SPIDER-GIRL in the past and I doubt they’ll change now.

Our first issue has an American Dream backup and we’re planning the Buzz for issue #2.

The gang and I area taking special care to make sure that SPECTACULAR #1 will be accisible for people who don’t usually read Spider-Girl, but that won’t really mean much to you guys.

Hope that tells you all you need to know!

Thanks for being there! You’re the reason why Marvel’s giving us another chance!

Tom D.

If it's a regular 22 page issue with a back-up that means the main feature will be cut down slightly, correct? I wonder how much page count will be dedicated to the MC2 back-up

I read a lot of Spider-Girl, but dropped it at some point. Then I read Amazing Spider-Girl, but dropped it about halfway through it's run.

I don't know if I'm going to continue with this one:csad:

Spider-Girl will probably be 16 pages, with a 5 page MC2 back up, and the one page Benjy story...

... but I'm just guessing here...

:yay:

Probably a good bet, I would be okay with that. Even though I don't know much about the MC2 universe

What they need to do is have a better face for May. She's been kind of fug hence her not having too much mass appeal.

Call me shallow but I would read it more if she looked like the way this guy draws her

What's wrong with how Mayday is normally drawn?

I admit she's alot better with the longer hair now but when the original What If was released something about her hair and nose bothered me. It's just nitpicking I know but I never liked it.

Doesn't that just come down to the artist? I've seen a drawing of Mayday where the artist basically drew a classic-looking Mary-Jane with brown hair.

Yeah, I can understand not appreciating Ron Frenz's art, but it's not limited solely to Mayday. I would've loved to see Pat Oliffe come back to Spider-Girl. I always thought his style fit May better. But Frenz isn't really bad, per se; I just don't like how his style has developed over the years.

Good god, let it die...

...and bring back S.W.O.R.D :csad:

Thank you Corp, that's what I was trying to say. I just really didn't like Frenz's art and that got in the way of me enjoying the book.

Admittedly I still picked up the title periodically, but I would enjoy it more if the art was better :P

Then why didn't you just... say that:huh:
