World Spectacular Spider-Man Returns to the CW!

Marvel, if you are reading this, please take my words seriously: If you continue the series in comic book form, I would still be satisfied. Please?

I would be happy if they continued the series in a comic form, I would definitely pick that up. It's such a shame that it go cancelled on such a cliffhanger.

Why not? Its never getting continued on TV, and it left us with a cliffhanger, so if you could have it continue as a comic book, why not? Unless you hate it for some reason and love Ultimate Spider-Man...

Of course he doesn't like it. It's actually good.

I wish Sony still had the animation rights. I'm so mad I can't watch a Spider-Man cartoon.

Thinking about this show's cancellation does depress me

Well, if you get the CW, you can watch Spectacular on their Saturday morning block of cartoons called the Vortex.

So, as I was watching today's episode, I was wondering why they were showing this on the CW (I know, looking a gift horse in the mouth). I mean, Disney/Marvel own the TV animation rights, while Sony owns the right to Spectacular. So, how did this cartoon get back on? Did Disney/Marvel have to allow Sony to show it on the air again? Could it be possible Disney/Marvel allowed it to see how the ratings were as to whether it would be worth them getting the rights for a third season from Sony? I think that's probably doubtful, since apparently they say Ultimate is doing well and going to a third season (ugh!).

It was interesting that once they got to season two, they started to advertise it as All New episodes.

I believe that Sony still technically owns Spectacular Spider-Man. Disney still owns the animation rights to Spider-Man now though, and I don't think we will EVER see a third season of TSSM.

It really does hurt my heart. Such a great show killed way before its time for no reason at all. Meanwhile Ultimate Spider-Man, which I'm ready to call the worst Spider-Man cartoon ever, is heading into a third season which will give it over 70+ episodes...full of wasted space. Imagine what TSSM would have done with 70 ****ing episodes. :(

TSSM would be on its last season I believe, and we would be waiting for some DTV animated films. :(

Ultimate Spider-Man IS the worst Spider-Man cartoon to date. There, I said it.

Actually the plan was for 65 episodes. With 13 episodes per season. So if the show hadn't been cancelled, the fifth season would have aired around last year or so and we'd probably already have the DTVs.

I notice some people like to use the length of a show's run to determine it's quality. This doesn't mean anything considering plenty of good shows shined briefly while inferior ones tend to drag on. At the rate Ultimate is going, it's gonna be the longest running Spider-man cartoon, so by these people's logic, that's gonna make that the best Spider-man cartoon. Hell that would also make Firefly one of the worst shows ever.

Oh yeah, it's bad. I've watched all 52 episodes so far, and while there have been a few good episodes most of them have been turds. I'd say I enjoy the MTV show and Unlimited more than Ultimate.

I actually sort of liked the MTV cartoon. I think if it stayed on the air longer, the show would have really found a better direction and used more comic book characters.

The MTV show was okay. However I felt it wrote itself into a corner trying to have it in the same continuity as the movies. There was also the lack of important characters like Aunt May. And too many original villains. Some being expys of villains from the comics.

Well what I was thinking is that if the show continued to air, eventually we would see characters like Aunt May, and there would be more villains from the comics. The show was only an alternate sequel to the first Raimi film, so it could pretty much go in any direction it wanted to.

"New" episodes start up again this Saturday!

"New" meaning they are going back to where they left off with Season 2. They are in the middle of the Venom arc.

Since the Vortex on the CW has been airing Season 2 of Spectacular, they have been promoting them as "All New Episodes" (even though they aired on Disney XD). They took a break around Christmas time and went back to showing Season 1 episodes. I was just saying they went back to the "All New Episodes" of Season 2. They just finished the Venom arc. Next week they start the Gang War arc!

Support "The Spectacular Spider-Man," any way you can!

Caught this one morning after work. Unfortunately that is typically my pass out for a couple of hours time but it was good to see it back on television. A chance for the youngsters to enjoy it and get hooked on Spidey. :spidey:

OH okay lol. Man, I wish I had access to TV on campus so I could watch. :/

I'll be buying the blu-ray though.
