i noticed that too... tim burton must've gotten a hold of the dvd's lol
maybe they did this because tehy think that the movie bombed because of the colors.
which i think is in nooooooooooooo way the reason.

What scene? I don't recall.

When Spritle and Chim Chim shatter the fourth wall by interrupting the movie, just to inform everyone Speed's about to kiss Trixie.

Actually it sounds kind of cool when I wrote that, but in reality it's 100% cringe-worthy.

Still hopelessly love this movie. Mhmmm.

When the update for the 360 comes, we'll both order Speed Racer off Netflix and watch it in the same lobby.

I got it, the last Widescreen copy at Blockbuster, it's ... beautiful.

How much it cost you?

$19.99, but that's only because Blockbuster sells their DVDs for that price only on Tuesdays when they're released. Regular it's $24.99. But it's worth it I think. One disc, digital copy, a few special features, and a sexy slip cover.

I saw this movie for the first time today and I have to say I really like it. I was surprised to find that in spite of all the flashy effects it was a movie about a family that loves and cares deeply about each other and their willingness to sacrifice themselves to protect that family and to do whats right. It's to bad it didn't do better at the box office because I would love to see a sequel.

I just watched it, epic as hell like in theatres, but the Spritle scene was still in at the end.

But I smell a double dip.

Blu-ray.com gave the video presentation a 5/5. But they were disappointed with the audio. Warner still refuses to do lossless audio. But it comes highly recommended. I'll be getting my copy Thurs. For anyone what has the blu-ray, how does it look?

I'll get this movie on dvd soon. Kind of low on cash at the moment. :csad:

stunning, overwhelming in a good way

This was a great, fun little movie. It was exciting, heartfelt, funny, and all around fun to watch.

I'm going to confess that I enjoyed Spritle's parts in this movie. His going crazy over candy was a great homage to the cartoon version, as was obviously hiding in the trunk of Speed's car. I also found it hilarious that Spritle and Chim-Chim ended up kicking more ass than Sparky. One thing I found kinda odd about the actor playing Spritle was that he spoke like he was one of the Three Stooges. That all said, I can see why some people can't stand his role in the movie. About half-way through, it became clear to me that his habit of interrupting serious dialogue was making him a definite moment-killer. And yeah, that final scene was just one way too damn many.

However, the dialogue in that cartoon Spritle and Chim-Chim was watching was just priceless cliche fun.
"Don't make me laugh. Your kung-fu is so-so."

Speaking of kung-fu, I didn't expect to see so much hand-to-hand fighting in this movie. The car-fu was expected, but I certainly didn't go into this movie expecting to see nearly the entire Racer family beat up a ninja, or a spectacular fight where practically everybody was involved.

One major flaw this movie had was the Wachowski Brother (and his sister Dot) not being able to set a consistent tone, if that makes sense. There were these incredibly wacky moments with Spritle & Chim-Chim that made it feel like a regular kid's movie, but it was thrown off by times when things got a bit too harsh. I don't think I'm phrasing this right, but let me put it this way:
You might want to check who your movie's target audience is before having a little kid run around on a sugar buzz in one scene, and having your main character shout "Get that weak s*** off my track" in another.

Haha. I got the Blu Ray today. I don't remember Speed's ''Get that weak **** off my track." scene.

I was during the final race. Speed was talking smack to the top racer from whatshisname's company.

i read somewhere that this is how the cartoons are. the problem is that you can not use that in a 120 milions budget summer movie that needs to for everyone.
kids alone can not make 200 or 300 milions domestic . so this movie was never meant to do a lot of money. why would adults watch this?

without the kid, monkey and little less pinks, purple and red and this movie would make hes budget back.
well i didnt lose anything. the same with the W brothers. only WB again threw away 100 milions.
