3 big problems.
-two cartoon scenes in the movie. its 100% campy
-in the big fight scene where they all fight the music is 200% campy and cheesy. its actually the music from the batman tv show
-kid and monkey

the story was IMO very good. a very good family story with some nice serious acting for a blockbuster. i like how they used the music from the acrtoon and made it work for the movie. the main theme was very good.
the last driving sequence of speed is pure epic.

I hated Chim Chim and Spritle, yes. Especially at the end, I actually e-mailed WB and told them to remove the interruption they did at the end. But I still loved the movie, can't wait for Tuesday.

I saw this a few days ago and i gotta say I liked it.

Buy yeah Chim Chim and Spritle annoying.

Im willing to bet Spritle and ChimChim were exactly what killed the boxoffice. I loved the movie. Racer X was a bonafide badass, the racing was insane, and the colors, oh the pretty colors.

I just could not stand that kid in the slightest. every time he showed up in screen i wanted to grab him by the throat.
im almost sure he's actually a midget. he just plays the snooty, smart kid at a pre-adolescent age bit too well.

the kid along with the romance scenes between Hirsch and Ricci, those were just as cheese if not worse.

The biggest problem for me was that the Wachowski's didnt balance the campy and the awesome well enough. When done well cheese can really make a ridiculous action movie soar to new heights (Kung-Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer off the top of my head), but when not, it can seriously suck out the fun.


im still buying the movie tho.

Oh yes, please. They were the most annoying things about the film, every time some thing good happend they'd pop up and ruine it blah. I don't care much for a sequal, now I know I'll be screwed with the fans for saying this but I am loving the show Speed Racer the Next Generation on NickToons TV and would love a live action film on that show t:

Hello there, I would just like to thank you for providing the epic film this summer which was Speed Racer, if I could have anything in this world, it would be a clean version of the ending of the movie, without the interruption including Spritle and Chim Chim of the delayed kiss between Speed and Trixie. Please cut that out for the sake of the few fans that appreciated this motion picture, I'm aware of my age and that seemed very innapropriate and a big slap to the face to us who loved the movie until that point, I'm aware that this movie was based for kids, and I'm aware you all put in scenes with them fooling around, but please for us adults, take out that interruption deemed unnecessary.

Yes. In one episode near the end of the show Speed asks Racer X if he was his older brother than he gets knocked out. The Acrobatic Team than realise it's Rex under the mask and Racer X reveals he is in fact Rex Racer, than he quits racing and becomes a secret agent and leaves his mask besides Speed than he finally realises that Racer X was his brother.

...yep. Loved this movie, every time i watch it, i love it more, its not perfect but the racing scenes make up for the little crappy scenes with the monkey and the kid.
