I liked the movie, I LOVED the races, but I felt really dumb watching most of the kid and the monkey scenes. not only dumb, but stupid and embarassed. I shrank a little in the sit when I saw that for the first time.
but really underrated, indeed.

Did you really think he was a crappy character, or do you simply bash every kid character in every movie? Because on these boards, I see far too much of the latter.

I enjoyed the movie, but I do agree that the kid was freakin' annoying. Seriously, the kid made the film a 7 for me instead of an 8. He definitely was the most annoying thing in a movie that I've seen in a while.

I recently saw this film.

If I had 100 Million Dollars and was told I could make any film I wanted - I would make Speed Racer. I love this film. Love it with the red hot intensity of 1000 suns.

I rented it from Netflicks, it wasn't that bad at all! matched up with my memories of the TV show, and the FX we're great. I dont get some of you, why the hate?

I realize that, thank you. But, kids tastes today are s***, and I think that is mainly because most adults think kids would like to be talked down to. A little sex and violence in the movies aren't going to destroy these childrens souls.

They made him like his animated counterpart. I went into this movie EXPECTING it to SUCK, ALLLLLLLL of it. ESPECIALLY Spritle & ChimChim

but I came out loving ALLLLLL of it. EVEN Spritle & ChimChim.

This movie was EVERYTHING speed racer was and i LOVED it. this is my favorite movie of 2008.

hands down.

This is true, but, while I liked some **** movies as a kid, that didnt prevent me from liking good badass ones, too. Give me some extreme violence as a kid and I would've loved it. Especially in Speed Racer.

Gratuitous violence for the sake of it doesn't always equal good movie...with that thinking you get films like Hostel...Speed Racer was never about violence, it was about action....there is a difference
