Spider-Man 2.1 additional scenes revealed

2.1 has the exact same menu designs as the previous DVD release.

So they're using the same menu animation for the new cut? Man, that's disappointing. Also, does the new cut have the same number of scene selections as the theatrical cut (there were 52), or did Sony reduce it to their traditional number of 28?

I'm also wondering if the first disc of the new cut opens with any previews. DVD Movie Guide doesn't say anything about the first disc for Spider-Man 2.1 having any previews at all, but I just want to confirm this.

mclay,

The scene selections still stand at 52 and there are no previews that open the first disc. The second disc has the theatrical trailer of Spider-Man 3 and the game trailer for Spider-Man 3....

Is the PQ really better than the superbit? Wow, that might make up for the lack of DTS track.

Ah well, this is just to hold me over until the BD with a PCM track, mmmmm.

I will say that the PQ is better then both the 2 disc set and the superbit edition.

UK Hypsters have to wait til April 23rd :cmad: lol :oldrazz:

I am lucky enough to have a uk copy of SM 2.1 !!!!!!!!! I think its an amazing version of the movie.......the only thing I prefer in thr old cut is the Spidy elevator scene....the new one isnt as funny IMO.

Not extended; COMPLETELY NEW. The dialogue was 99% replaced.

I just picked this up at Wal-mart today. Not sure why they got it early but oh well... The new stuff is pretty rad. The extended train stuff really cool and while the office fight during the bank robbery is only a few seconds long it is nice to see more Spidey vs. Ock material.

Probably my favorite new thing has got to be the few seconds they add to the scene when we see Peter first return to his apartment after his party. When he sits down on his bed he turns on a police scanner and just sits there listening. It is only a few seconds but very emotional in my opinion. Further displaying how sad and lonely his life is.

The only thing I don't like about the new cut is the opening credits. They change the title card to say Spider-Man 2.1 and it is really annoying to me. Just because that is what the dvd is called does not mean you should change the actual title in the movie. I guess it isn't really a big deal but I find it really annoying. But other than that, totally rad!!

I liked this scene as well.

I didn't go to the store, but my order from Deep Discount just shipped earlier today. I can afford to wait until Tuesday to see the rest of the extended scenes. ;)

I did find the extended train fight on Youtube. I don't know if it's the copying process of transferring it onto the Internet, but I found that the few seconds of where Doc Ock and Spidey are fighting in the train station are slow and not that well-integrated into the main feature, while the rest of the new stuff is much more fluid and well-integrated. Overall, the extended train fight is interesting, but the theatrical cut was better paced. The music editing in the extended fight is just horrible -- borders on the DC of Superman II level of sloppiness. They should've have Christopher Young rescore the extended train scene while he was scoring Spider-Man 3. It wouldn't have took him long to do it. Or at least used part of Elfman's unused score.

Still, minor complaints about the extended train bit on Spider-Man 2.1, I am looking forward to the new scenes such as J.J. Jameson wearing Spidey's suit, MJ and her friend and the infamous Spidey/Doc Ock office fight.

People may end up disapointed with the "Infamous" office fight. It really only lasts a few seconds. People talk like it is this huge battle but what you have already seen in the previews is pretty much all that is there. It is still cool though just not very long.
