World Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends Appreciation Thread

Loved this show, but the BEST EVER Spidey TV show is the solo 1981 series-
(If you disagree- you are wrong)

Best intro ever too.

Both this and Amazing Friends are Begging for DVD releases, I don't see what the problem is.
As a previous poster noted- today's animated shows and cartoons suck.
Back 20 years ago or whatever the main ingredient was FUN! and that is what these shows provided, that plus a healthy dose of escapism.

Stuff like TAS was ok, but it was too concerned w/ trying to emulate the storylines of the 90's comics, so it all just came off as cheesy. If I want to read the comics then I can, but if I want some fun and escapism Il kick back and watch a great Spidey cartoon.

Excellent. Added to my favorites.

Cant believe ive never seen a single episode from that series....

Man it rules, I got the first 3 episodes on a really old VHS and I have watched em to death. I NEED the whole series on DVD yesterday.

The solo spidey one from the 80's was a great show too. I have the episode where Doom kidnaps the president and I use to have one where Lizard tries taking over NYC.

Any chance you could put them up on Youtube? Especially the Lizard episode?

I have no idea/way to get the mon there and the lizard video is now m.i.a. and has been for many years :(

Now that I think of it did they also sell a tape with an appearance from black cat on the solo 80's show too? I seem to recall having that...

I got the episodes of "Firestar is born" and the one where Spidey is hanging out with the X-Men and The Juggarnaught attacks on VHS. Such an awesome show! And one I'll always have a fondness for.

Yes they did, I have both on VHS. I remember in the Lizard episode had a scene where Spidey, after being thrown in a swamp, comes up and tries to shoot a web but it's clogged up, so he keeps trying until a tiny fish squirts out.:whatever:

I remeber watching the 60s show in syndication, but this is the show that got me into Spidey seriously, so it will always be dear to me.
My favorite is "Along came Spidey", which has some beautiful animation in it, (Done in japan) The best scene though of all the episodes, is in "A Firestar is born" where Juggernaut's trying to reach Prof X. and he goes through the whole entire X-men team and finally reaches Xavier, who at this point is completely helpless, Juggernaut lifts his arms to smash him, then out of nowhere a webline shoots down from the main man and pulls him up before Juggy can smash him. I'm like F yeaaa!!!!THAT'S good stuff!!!

hooray for spider-friends..

Booo to whoever's holding up a dvd set..

Great episodes!

Iceman also had an origin episode that was pretty cool too. It showed the X-Men in their original costumes, iirc.

Oh yeah. That was the first time Dr.Strange and Shanna The She-Devil were ever animated, iirc.

BTW; Do you remember which Marvel hero gave Spidey and the gang their control room? (hint; He has a movie coming out next year :word: )

Tony Stark although you never see him as Iron Man.:yay:

Yeah, I don't like when people say show's like this are out-dated and such, I respect peoples opinions, but this stuff is classic! Agreed, so am I. The 1990's toon is the best Spidey cartoon as of yet, in my opinion, and hopefully The Spectacular Spider-Man will be even greater than that show was. So do I.

Yet no one remembers the MTV CGI show that came out two or three years ago.

They actually have some of the exact same episodes. For instance, the episode with the Goblin is exactly the same in both shows except the solo 1981 spidey episode is sans Iceman & Firestar. Also, SM&HAF was a Saturday morning show. The solo SM show was an after school show if I remember correctly. I was six at the time.

I always wondered about that. The animation in the x-men episode as well as Along Came Spidey" and "A Firestar Is Born" had much better animation than the first couple seasons. Was it because they were made in Japan?

I got my hands on the entire Incredible Hulk animated show from 1982 from someone on ebay (DVD). Picture quality sucks but clear enough to watch. I have about 10-12 episodes of SM&HAF on VHS. If I could burn it to a DVD, I would send it to you. My ex had the capability but since she is my now "ex" that option is out of the question.

No problem, man. I've recently seen them here and there on the net so it shouldnt be too hard to score one when i get around to it...:yay:

I do think it is dumb though how the series hasn't been released as a box set. One of the coolest ones I bought was the Battle of the Planets box set.

I want to know when Voltron will be released (lions and vehicles).

i think voltron has been released

Voltron has indeed been realesed in 5 kick ass box sets with plans in place to release other voltron series to dvd :)
