STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS
See and use the General Star Wars Episode VII News/Speculation/SPOILER Thread for discussion on the news and rumors.
Beware that some rumors could be true and therefore be spoilers. Others are just crap.
About
I like to link to the originating source organization whenever possible, which is nearly always, and prefer to reference articles whose authors use their real names and get paid to write and report for a living and have their own original sources. Rumors will be superseded by further announcements from Disney / Lucasfilm. I may cease updating these posts at any time.
Story and casting announcements
Lucasfilm announced that the title for Episode VII is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It is set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi (Episode VI), and will star three new young leads along with some very familiar faces. Star Wars: Episode VIIIX will not tell the same story told in the post-Episode VI Expanded Universe (EU). (March 18, 2014, April 25, 2014, November 6, 2014)
Lucasfilm's website states that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and features a new generation of swashbuckling heroes and shadowy villains, as well as the return of fan-favorite smugglers, princesses, and Jedi."
