Spider-Man: Edge of Time

I respect your opinion even though I disagree. I think having four different Spider-men was a fun idea, and the whole game was fun, even if it was just "button mashing". And I certainly didn't judge it based on past Spidey games. I think it's good on its own.

Didn't say it wasn't fun, but it was incredibly shallow, short lived fun. It was a game we've all played before with a coat of Spider-Man paint on it. Not having a clear and detailed vision from the developers is just going to stop them from making a great Spider-Man game. They might keep making games that are 'fun' and sell well, but unless they push the envelope, they won't advance any further. You might have enjoyed SD too, but what if they do SD 2 and don't advance things at all? It'll be just like all the free roam games they churned out years ago.

Thats the Activision business model, don't strive for something unique, find what sells well and keep repeating until it is no longer lucrative, then switch developers.

Then I will be disappointed. BUT I still think SD is the best Spider-man game since SM2.

Yeah, they cancelled Rock Band 3 and it's other 50 sequels so they could focus on even more Call of Duty:hehe:

I think you mean Guitar Hero, not Rock Band. And the music genre for games is almost dead nowadays anyway, and that is largely due to Activision going in too hard and squeezing every blood covered dollar out of that franchise.

Rock Band, Guitar Hero, what's the difference?:hehe: I never cared for music games anyway.

*sigh*, well I liked SD, but i'll be honest, we need another free roam game and I hope that's what we're getting.

Free Roam in itself is useless though unless the devs actually push the envelope. Make the environment more than just a bland place for things to occur, a story that engages beyond chase missions and boss fights. Deep and detailed movement animation and controls. All these things.

i loved the arcade style Spidey games that were on the old systems (Sega, Snes, Nes)

my favorite would have to be Maximum Carnage

anyone remember the arcade that came out back in the early 90s? that was fun. i remember the first boss being Venom and how he would get huge after all that chemical crap fell on him. it'd be nice to have that ported on to the PS3/XB360 just like the X-Men arcade game was.

I swear, we always go in circles on this thread, and the funniest thing is that most people seem to have really fond memories for classic Spidey games and utter contempt for recent ones :P

Huh, who's this "we" you're talking about? :oldrazz:

To be honest, I never really had any nostalgia for the classic Spidey games, mainly because I didn't play the PS1 game much and didn't play too much superhero games back then. Looking at the videos on YouTube now, I guess I could see why people are fond of them.

Well, obviously i'm referring to people who post on this forum.

Sorry Socool, i'm with Pat on that one. Nike costume?

I'm sorry you don't like the costume, you know, the most important thing of any movie.

Like remember how AWESOME Spider-Man 3 was? Yeah, that was due to the costume. OH! And God did TDK suck, remember the bat symbol on the chest? Yeah, I don't either.

Nike must have changed their style too...

Don't know what sport store I can buy that from...

Oh wow, passive agressive fanboyism! How refreshingly different!

Sorry dude, but i'm strongly against any Sony Spidey film. All I want is an MCU Spidey, so no matter how good it could be, It's not canon Spidey so I see it as yet another excuse for Sony to hold onto the rights.

MCU? What is that?

And I actually wasn't flipping out despite the fact my post looks like that. I was just stating why I think you pointing out the costume was a weak thing. (And calling it a Nike suit is dumb IMO)

Still, back on topic: I wish another game wasn't coming out so soon :(

I'm guessing Marvel Cinematic Universe

I agree with you Socool, I wish Activision would take some time off from Spidey. With the rushed production, the games always come out mediocre at best, Shattered Dimensions just proved that linear Spider-Man games can still be fun. How I wish the day would come when Activision loses the rights to Spider-Man, I think it's about time a different developer handles the games.

We were talking about the Spidey movie Alchemyst, and Socool, I KNOW they don't have anything to do with the movie, thats what I said... That I WANT an MCU spidey film, rather than this no mans land Sony reboot. I didn't think it was that complicated.

And it wasn't a demand, it was my reason for not being interested in the Sony film.

No, that was his demand for a MOVIE.

Oh ok, gotcha :cwink:

Not complicated at all, I do find it rather ill tempered that you're going out of your way to bash the reboot because you don't like the way the suit looks. Get the credentials, put yourself in Marc Webbs shoes, try your hand at making a Spider-Man film, and lets see what the world thinks of your ideas and your vision of Spider-Man :o

Again, did you actually read my posts? I was bagging on the suit, but I explained the full reason i'm not excited about that film. But I honestly don't care, lets discuss the game instead.

Jesus, has anyone ever told you that you have a tendency to defend the fantasy genre with a terminal intensity?

*sighs* just so it doesn't get out of hand, back on topic about the next Spider-Man game
