Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 2

One thing that's a little concerning about this game is their apparent portrayal of Mary Jane.

This notion that Mary Jane is just a damsel in distress to those working on the game is pretty disconcerting. Here's hoping she's still very much Mary Jane.

The quote "In the past, we have seen Mary Jane plead with Peter to stop being Spider-Man for his own safety, but that is not who she is in this story" makes me slightly annoyed. Being worried for a loved one's destructive lifestyle is not a bad character trait. Writers give themselves a bit too much credit merely for not making their females "damsels in distress"

I agree with you. But it doesn't have to be a destructive lifestyle for a loved one to be worried. Spider-man's 'activities' are really no different than that of a police officer or other public servant sans the super villain stuff of course. Again though I agree, it isn't wrong for a loved one to worry--it makes sense as with those occupations there's an element of danger.

As for the MJ quote, it's easy to understand why it's so dumb/lame/laughable...just look at the source. Gage is practically Slott's right hand.

So the cover for a bunch of European cover stories was revealed (not sure what that is to be honest) and...it's the prequel novel's cover?

It's official, but the tweet doesn't say it's the book's cover. So I'm assuming it's both because this is clearly the cover to the novel.

EDIT: Also our first look at OSCORP way in the back there!

The cover to the novel is this:

I love the original pic btw. The suit looks so good in it. I’m pretty sure I like it better than the Homecoming suit (I said it). It’s just so striking, bold, modern, and interesting.

That one says "NOT FINAL COVER" right on the side. And the one I posted is the EXACT same pose. It has to be the final version. Has to.

And yes--I think I prefer it to Homecoming, too.

I went from not feeling the suit to absolutely loving it! It's gonna end up being an all time classic, you watch.

I don't think I noticed the all blue on the feet before.

Oscorp looks like a very very tall double A battery.

Yeah, the costume could use some more red around the feet/shins. But it's still a good looking costume.

The costume definitely grew on me.

As far as Mary Jane is concerned, I like that she is a playable character. This will be something different for a Spidey game, that's for sure.

I don't know if this has been shared before, but a while back, the synopsis for the art book (now edited out) listed some of the game's villains, including [BLACKOUT]Rhino and Scorpion[/BLACKOUT].

I'm pretty disappointed in their appearance, honestly. Along with Shocker, Black Cat, and Kingpin, it's more recycling of Spider-Man villains in video games, instead of seeing newer or less explored foes.

I just really want the Green Goblin to be the main villain. I felt like
Rhino was probably the villain hidden on the statue with the collector's edition cause it was something big Spidey was on top of.

Green Goblin and Doc Ock are Spidey's top 2 enemies and they're barely ever in any of the games so with Norman here playing a big role we better at least get him if they're trying to tell a definitive Spidey story.

TBH, I haven't really enjoyed a Spidey game since Ultimate Spider-man in 2005. So if this game turns out to be good(which I have no doubt it will), I don't mind them recycling villains that have been in the more recent games as I didn't care for them that much.

I do hope Mysterio is in at least. Many good possibilities for gameplay and boss battles. Similar to Scarecrow and Mad Hatter in the Arkham games.

I honestly hope it's Green Goblin fighting Spider-Man as the statue. I want them to reveal Goblin at E3.

I wouldn't mind Rhino, but he's been in A LOT of Spidey games unlike Green Goblin (which still stuns me) so it would be so hype to see Goblin at E3 and then they reveal the statue.

I hope it's a pose like this:

But that box for the statue does say "RAFT" on it, and since Norman is running for Mayor I don't think he's at the Raft. It's probably not Goblin, but I wish it was.

I think Green Goblin was in Spider-Man (2002), Ultimate Spider-Man: The Game, Spider-Man: Friend or Foe (let's face it, that game doesn't really count), and a version of him showed up in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. So I would love to have him play a role in this PS4 game.

And Mr. Negative brings something very fresh to Spider-Man video games. I know very little about him so this will be pretty exciting. Shocker is just fun to see make a return as he is a staple in quite a lot of the Spidey games.

There’s really just so many good Spider-Man villains that they would have a hard time not putting in a decent roster. Still I hope Green Goblin is in.

Not a big deal but I have to admit that I’m kinda disappointed that the Baxter Building.

At least we have Mr. Negative and Taskmaster, some more unused villains might appear.

Taskmaster is in the game? Do we have any footage?

Not something that we were shown as far as I'm aware, just info that he exists, and his missions involve bombs for the player to stop.

I'm guessing he won't have a big role in the game?

I must say, I am very impressed with the interior designs of the subway and grand central. So far, they look very accurate.
