Yeah, I agree. Keep the raised webbing. But change the way it is a bit. The image just pops more with it. Drawing black lines down it won't make it pop.

Change the material of the costume, the color tones, and change both spiders.

Why does it need to pop?

Why does it need to pop?

Because this is in 3 dimension, in real life. When he is moving, seeing simply black lines drawn on aren't gonna show up that much. Practically, it's not gonna show much when he's moving. All of the costume must create one effect.

How do you guys think we'll see the costume first? Set picture, action figure, magazine cover (like Green Lantern's), a leaked picture of some sort, or an official image released online?

Entertainment Weekly. It's how Warner did it. It's how Marvel did it. It's probably how Sony will do it.

Still, my problem is, having a costume with so many raised details takes away from the fact that this is a story about a kid who becomes a superhero, not a billionaire that can afford to add such details, or an alien, or a soldier.

Who says it has to be an expensive material? Raised webbing could be something as simple as rubber spider webs from Party City heated up and laid over the suit.

So a guy making a costume that's great looking takes away the identifying traits of Peter Parker? Showing a logic to Spider-Man's costume does jack **** in showing this. It has nothing to do with Peter as a person. He makes it simply to hide himself, associate himself with his powers, and be a hero.

Please tell me how wasting so much time on a costume makes him less of a identifiable and endearing character. For God sakes, did we complain about it in the Raimi films? "Oh, it should be homemade. It looks too good!"

The Kick Ass costume was suppose to look amateur like and not very extravegant looking. Why? Because it was a freaking satire. A satire on Spider-Man as well. Why is this so hard for poeple to comprehend? Why are we following the logic of a satire that was inspired by Spider-Man himself? It makes zero sense.

So I guess when we see a great image of Spider-Man in his glory swinging and it looks ****ing great people will be like, "Meh, it looks too good. How could he make that?" If you're thinking of that you're wasting your time.

That's the thing; there's a fine line, it should say something about who the person is, but at the same time, it has to look good onscreen. I guess kinda like what they've done with Captain America. So, in a sense you make good points, but the costume from the first 3 flicks was a bit much, but I never disliked it. Also, you have to remember, they've given a significantly smaller budget this time around.

A bit much? It was damn near perfection

Darken the colours, black webbing, different eyes, different spider symbols. THAT'S ALL WE NEED. A ****** Spider-Man suit would be a complete cluster****

So you want it to look good, but also home made ? Isnt that a contradiction ?

I'm going to be boldly honest. It is incredibly stupid to want to a homemade costume like kick-ass for the film instead of the best looking suit possible. Fact and end of story for me.

Something like ModestMr.Green mentioned would be nice alright.

To all of you who are completely dismissing others ideas and opinions, be open. I've said it many times, it doesn't have to be as done up as Raimi's costume to look good. Something simpler (possibly home made, but done well enough that it could fool you) could be just the job needed.

It's possible it could get the feel of the comic more that way, even something simple like rounder eyes as shown in the manip thread in select photos show that.

Anyone who is hating on those in favour of simpler designs (homemade, "reality" based), stop saying others have lack of taste with their own wants and views, you sound ignorant.

I (probably mentioned this in the past too) personally believe a suit done like in the "Peter's Web" series, with a bit more production value could look great (except with a completely different mask...can't blame the creator with the materials and low budgets he had). It has a fabric look, but gives good body definition and interesting highlights (which really remind me of the comic stylings).

I've thrown up a few screencaps from the series. Sorry about the quality...it was all made on a camcorder.
Like I said, a costume done like this with a bit more time and care could be great. The wrinkles could be lessened slightly, but I personallythink it adds a certain character (and "believability"/"realism") to the suit.

A wrinkly eyed loose fitting costume that looks like felt? I mean seriously...it looks like felt. No thanks. Once again, if you want a Walmart looking costume because you think it is more 'realistic' then you need to quit watching superhero movies:o Also...anything that you can get at Walmart should not be the costume in a big budget superhero movie. Nobody wants to see Batman in a Walmart costume. Nobody wants to see Superman in a Walmart costume.

The way I see it, the felt like texture on it, to me, makes it feel a lot more like Spidey's comic suit, especially, as mentioned, with the effect lighting has on it reminding me of how light hits the costume in certain drawings, not least this one: http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/2866/70181421.jpg

I also mentioned that if they minimise the amount of wrinkles by making it a bit better fitting with a bigger budget, it'd be a lot better. As well as perhaps slightly raised webbing (or even flat, depends on what suits it best) and a bit more raised (and rounded) eyes and a raised spider.

For about the fourth time, if you read my posts, we could get a different mask as that one does look awful.

As for me quitting watching superhero movies, don't disregard my opinion and put your own higher, you sound ignorant. I accept your opinion, but I give my reasons why I like this look in my last few posts while all you do is cut mine down. Spider-Man, I think, should have a look like this. Not for realism, just because I feel it suits the character better (for reasons also outlined in my previous posts).

Your idea of the "Walmart" costume is the very cheap, horrible looking Batman, Superman and Spider-Man suits that even I despise. If you can't see that even the above costume is a far cry from those, you're not looking at how it could work but straight out dismissing the idea and views I'm putting out.

Differentiating from the costume of the previous films would be as simple as an eye change. Honestly, just change those and make it out of something that isn't that honeycombed fabric, and you've got it made. Hell, even if they used the exact same suit design, you wouldn't be able to tell. Garfield will have an entirely different build.

Surely, its better than from the $30 costumes, but in an $80 million film it looks cheap. Get over it. An actual homemade looking costume is ridiculous and stupid. People are gonna wonder if its Spiderman or a parody after witnessing 3 films with a high quality costume.

You keep saying that its not for the sake of realism but it fits the character better. How does it fit the character better than the suits for the first 3 films? The only answer for that is because it grounds it in reality even more, which is something these films don't need.

I have never questioned how a middle-class money struggling teenager gets a costume like that in the films ever and I'm sure that 99.9% of the people that watched the film didn't question that either.
