Making Gwen an English exchange student would make more sense as she has family in England. Will she have Betty Brandt's hair style to confuse people? :whatever:

I don't buy it at all. If it were real, they would never use real character names like that. That girl would have no clue what/who she was actually auditioning for.

Ummm........are they allowed to upload the audition tape like that?

If real at least we got a scene mentioning Uncle Ben! :hehe:

Not liking Gwen being from another country though. Feels like another forced change because of the recent TASM films. IF this is all true of course.

Yes, actors upload audition tapes to Vimeo and such all the time. It's how casting sees it. However, they're usually set to private.

She's not necessarily French the actress auditioning may just be French.

Nope, if Gwen wasn't supposed to be French the actress would have not used her native voice and put on a different accent, American perhaps.

I don't believe this though.

yeah, just saw the reports about the Gwen tape.

I don't mind if she's European, French, English or whatever. if you want to be different like that, go ahead.

but she sure as hell has to be fair-skinned, blonde, and blue eyed. and there's no reason why a European exchange student can't be fair skinned, blonde, and blue eyed.

that may not be PC to say that in this day and age. please give me one supporting cast member who looks like how she is supposed to look in the comics ( and has traditionally looked ).

I don't want a brunette Gwen Stacy. or Asian Gwen Stacy. or Hispanic Gwen Stacy.

if they can't even get Gwen right, then I've lost all hope and interest in this franchise. if they do that, then they clearly just want to be different for the sake of being different without any respect to the source material.

But we already have Gwen, Knight.

In "Betty". :o

If Gwen ends up being like a foreign exchange student of same kind, I don't care honestly. As long as they can act, have good chemistry with Holland, and is an interesting character, then we're good. Gwen was radically changed in Spectacular Spider-Man and TASM series from her comic counterpart, and I liked what they did in those. Just make her a good character. Plus, Homecoming changed a lot about Peter's supporting cast already, and I was okay with what they did.

I hope they don't try to make her dad not a police captain, though.

They need to introduce the Stacys especially Gwen and have her show up to be Peter's new love interest especially if her father George Stacy becomes Police captain but as for who I would go for as Gwen Stacy my picks would be either Chloe Grace Moretz or Elle Fanning and as for George Stacy I would go with Dennis Quaid

I'd be surprised if they used Gwen again so soon after the TASM films and the video in question seems too random to be official, but I would be fine if they made Gwen a foreign exchange student.

We just had Gwen, Spider-Man has a bevvy of girls in his history. I'll be more interested in how Peter handles what ever happens in A4 over his love life though.

To be fair, introducing Gwen would be a chance to introduce the love triangles Peter has been involved with. This would be a change up from the two previous movie series where the one girl is the ONLY girl Peter has romantic interactions with. Another thing is not only could the girls interact with Peter but with each other. Gwen and..."Michelle", MJ, or whomever she is supposed to be could have sardonic remarks toward each other and it would be a great chance to flesh out characters. I mean look at how the Spectacular cartoon handled some of Peter's love life. Little moments like Liz Allan saying "Yeah we do" when talking about how Peter and her make a great couple to Gwen show that interactions between the supporting characters without Peter there would flesh out the characters a bit.

I would also say that one thing Gwen brings to the table is her father. While they wasted no time in killing off the George and Gwen in the Amazing films, they could stick around a bit here. They could even do a "Crisis on Campus" storyline in the future tackling police corruption in New York. Gwen taking the college protests personally as her father is a captain (Despite being a good cop, you know how these blanket statements work), which could drive a wedge between her and Peter who leans a bit more on the other side of the argument as he is indeed a vigilante. This would be a way to cause drama between the two other than the "Spider-Man killed my father" situation that both Gwen and Harry have both experienced in comics.

Huh, Spider-Man addressed police brutality? Not that it doesn't fit, the titular character being a vigilante and whatnot, I just never would've thought that actually happened.

Just me speaking, I care about nobody in particular in the Spider-Man mythos, so if they want to change Gwen Stacey's origin to a European exchange student -- and of course she can still be blonde-haired and blue-eyed; nobody's saying that's explicitly bad -- then why not? Would be nice having a bit more of a global perspective and making the MCU Earth-bound stories less America-centric. The only thing that throws me is that her dad is a long-time New York cop, and that's supposed to be a big part of their dynamic with Spider-Man/Peter if I understand the basic story correctly. Not sure how you'd accomplish that if she's explicitly an exchange student.

Exactly. It'd basically be another pointless change to be different like Flash was

I rather see Felicia over Gwen again, and if they want to make her foreign it would make more sense. Her and her dad travel the world stealing objects from other countries. Felicia is also more of the bombshell if they want that love triangle.

But ASM 2 also had the misfortune of featuring Felicia, so... don't think we'll see her anytime soon.

Homecoming is the worst looking Spider-man film of the lot. ASM looked dull but no one can deny that it was technically a strong piece of workmanship. Let's hope they up the ante. But given that it's MCU I am not holding my breath.

Are they still refusing to use the Spider-Man villains that have appeared in previous Sony movies or was that just for the first movie?

^You know, I'm not really sure. I can see them refusing to use the big three...

Also, you KNOW they aren't doing a goblin storyline anytime soon after Sony did the Green Goblin twice... (classic middle aged insane man in a suit version, and a mutated version). I don't see them attempting a Hobgoblin storyline, as MCU's version of Ned would be TOO similar to Harry's storyline if they were to try.

Venom's out of the picture...because he's getting his own picture

That leaves Octavius...which I'm not sure if they want to touch him... If they wanted to they could easily tie him to Stark haha. If we are keeping the theme of having Tony spawning baddies for Peter to face we could have Otto be one of Tony's college peers from back in the day. However I don't see them using Ock.

But if they do that Black Cat/Silver Sable movie, then that likely makes Felicia unavailable for this.

Eh I wouldn’t count venom or green goblin out yet. Some are saying that movie is sort of in the mcu so he may show up down the line.

They probably are because Sony wants to make them star in their own movies. Just have to hope for Mysterio, Kraven, Scorpion, Smythe, and some others in the mean time. I think when Peter gets to college they will bring Osbourn.
