I wasn't sure about that, but I think in the Noir series the web just kind of sprays out. It doesn't come out as a webline. Spidey 2099 had a few differences that Peter power wise. He clung to walls because of finger/toe talons, had fangs, enhanced/night vision, and no spider sense.

Also, in the game they mention Noir getting webslinging abilities, and 2099 getting spidey sense... Did they not have these in the comics? I read Noir and thought he had webs...

They made several mentions of this in the game. Madame Web giving them all power upgrades, SM Noir noting that his webs usually just "splatter everywhere", SM 2099 calling the new spider sense a trip. Etc.

That's funny, I didn't think the game was bad at all, the overall look was better than the first one, it just didn't bring alot to the table to top the originaly. Still a solid title.

It LOOKED better than the original, but the storyline and boss battles were a total joke. I bought it, played through it hoping it would get better and got rid of it. I still say the first one is better. Hell, even the X-Men Legends games were better than MUA2.

I already mentioned this but I'm going to elaborate a bit more. In web of shaodws/spider-man 2/spider-man 3/ultimate spider-man, the map was a minature replica of new york right? They kept landmark like timesquare, central park, bridges, liberty island... but they reduced alot of the space between these landmarks. What I'm suggesting is that you shrink the overall size of the map even smaller. Keep the land marks, but have less buildings between them. That way you can make everything in the city more detailed.

The map should be about half the size of web of shadows, but with more variety and things to do. Include a subrban area with houses, PLENTY of indoor areas like warehouses, factories and underground catacombs.

I say have it sandbox like Arkham City seems to be. Not too big, not too small and still with GREAT graphics and what seems to be, a great story with lots of characters.

The only problem is that Spidey travels very fast. You can't have too small areas because then Spidey would feel extremely limited in a way.

I think this game has some pretty amazing graphics. I'm a big fan of the 4 different art styles, and I think the way the suit in 2099 looks is spot on with the comics - I also love how they show the tech "moving" within the suit. Definitely adds a new dimension to the 2099 character.

I don't know guys. I think we got a really solid Spider-Man title which hasn't happened in years. No it doesn't have free roam, but I'd give that up any day of the week for a fresh approach with some solid graphics and I feel that's what we got with this one. It's definitely not without it's flaws, but overall it blows the last few games out of the water.

agreed SOB, but when you mash together SM fanboys and video game fanboys, you get twice the pissing and moaning

Yeah, I get it. I just think it was a GIANT step forward for the Spider-Man video games. I beat it within a few days and I'm still going back and playing levels. I think it's fun as hell.

Yeah, I've really been enjoying this game. This is probably one of the best Spidey games in years. And it shows Beenox really does care about bringing in a great Spider-Man game. Yet, I still can't help to wonder how it might have turned out if Activision would have given it more time and resources to develop. More levels? More in-depth combat? At least fix some of the glitches?

Oh, I think the game is great. But I can still call out its flaws without being a fanboy. Wall crawling, swinging, and the camera are all kinda bad. And its a bit repetitive, but a lot of games are. Other than that, I'm really enjoying the game. It is a step in the right direction for sure. I would like to see Dan Slott or another writer tackle the next game, and give us a deeper story. I don't LOVE free roam games or anything, but with Spider-Man, there needs to be something where you can get the feeling of swinging through the city, even if it were just for one level or something. Personally, my dream Spider-Man game would be given the time, attention, and money that big games like Metal Gear Solid do.

I think one of the biggest design flaws in Shattered Dimensions was the fact that they tried to pull a Bungie. When Bungie first designed Halo they only created five seconds of gameplay. When they saw how fun it was they thought to themselves "How can we stretch this into a vast experience."

Beenox kind of tried the same thing. They were repeating the web zipping, the first person boss battles, the run away sections.

All of which were very jaw dropping in the beginning. However, once you play through the whole game you realize they did a "rinse and repeat". They took away from what made those moments memorable and ran them into the ground.

The first person battles would've been great if they limited it to just the fierce enemies. I.E. Carnage, Vulture, Hammerhead and Kraven.

The Sand tornado would have also been even more memorable if we hadn't done it previously in the Electro section.

Just my two cents.

Having civilians in most of the levels was kind of annoying. Fine, it makes sense in the Noir levels, Electro, Carnage, and Scorpion. But in Doc Ock's lab? In an abandoned sand quarry? Really?

Only the sand quarry didn't make sense.

The guys in Doc's lab were more people of the Shadow Division. Ock was the head of it. They were simple workers and if you listened to their dialogue, you would have heard it.

The end battle with Noir Spidey avoiding Mysterio was a little blatant, and I didn't care for Amazing's end of the fight. But this game overall was pretty good. Some obvious flaws, but Beenox obviously put time into it

Now that I think about, I don't even understand why I complained about it.

Probably the worst civilian objective was the one in the Scorpion level. It makes sense, but it's so annoying.

I love this game unconditionally!!
The ONLY things that could make it better in my opinion is more costumes (DLC) and fix a few big glitches. I have played the game through four times now and I am loving it every time.

I'm on the Goblin level, and Goblin is so hard... I keep dying right before I'm about to kill Goblin :(
I've given up for the night. Can I continue from the beginning of the fight, or do I have to start the level over?

You start from the beginning of the fight. The game usually has auto-saving checkpoints, so you should be fine.

Just bought and finished the game on my day off. Nothing special. I found myself loving it for the art styles and concept, and dialogue, but not so much for the gameplay. It was fun at first, with the promise of more unlockables, but after I finished I realised there was still only a very basic combat and the only thing to replay the game again for are costumes and achievements.

Personally, for the next spidey game, I would love free roam again, 616 art style with a Spidey who is able to do all of the things that the various spideys could do (well, stealth, web, agility etc), a proper story and more than just 'costume' unlockables.

Overall, SD was fun, but nothing new or special. Sure there have been some crappy spidey games as of recent, but i'm not going to praise this as the next messiah of Spidey games simply because it was good. It was fun but still left alot to be desired.

I am also kind of disappointed that there is no free roam, but other wise I think the game is great. It's refreshing.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I had a good time with my first playthrough, but i havent really felt the need to pick it up again. Im sure ill revisit it at another time tho.

I am only three acheivements away from getting 100% complete.
I got all the challenges done and Scarlet Spidey is by far the best costume in the game.

For me it's ranked like this:

1. Josh Keaton (Ultimate Spider-Man) - He should just be go to Spider-Man voice actor from now on.

2. Neil Patrick Harris (Amazing Spider-Man) - This guy can do no wrong and does an awesome job with 616 Pete.

3. Christopher Barnes (Noir Spider-Man) - I hated him in the 90's animated series, but his voice really fits Noir Spider-Man.

4. Dan Gilvezan (Spider-Man 2099) - Worst voice choice ever. He sounds nothing like a young man like Miguel would. They should have just got a new voice actor all together here, rather than try to keep up with every Spidey being voiced by someone who had voiced a Spider-Man before.
