    Happy Thanksgiving, Guest!

The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Quips

I love Spidey's witty banter in the comics, but if I'm being honest, most of what's been written in this topic isn't very funny at all. Then again, I understand that nobody here is a professional comedian or writer, so it's not like I'm holding it against anyone either. Go nuts, have fun, but don't take it too personally if someone says that the movie should do better.

And the amazing fro needs to stop being a downer, didn't your mom ever tell you if you didn't have anything nice to say not to say anything at all? People who post like you are just trying to be a s**t disturber. Two words, DONT...POST if you're not a fan of the quips. Next time I make a thread I'll call it "Spider-Quips... FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE THEM"

I'm a fan of FUNNY quips. None of the stuff on here is funny at all. I'm not a "s**t disturber" as you so eloquently put. I am merely making a point that this thread has produced to date very poor quips.

The stuff in here is mostly fan stuff we think he should say. The guys that write this stuff in the books are writing it for a reason. Everybody thinks they know Spider-Man, but honestly....eh. I would honestly view Spidey's modern day quips on par with something Conan O'Brien would probably say. Self-aware, yet still manages to get a groaner here and there.

Aside from quips...which NEED to be in the film.
I think there should be plenty of "inner thought" Spidey moments. Spidey talks and thinks to himself A LOT. So, we should for sure see some scenes where Spidey comments to himself in thought about a situation.

I would actually like it if it was like a narration/voice over in parts of the movie, where you can hear what he's thinking in some scenes. that would be cool.

yeah that would be great, I could see that happening. Spidey running from the cops "Great....I stopped the "badguys" yet the cops are chasing me like I'm one, what are the odds."

Lizard tries to bite Spidey and he grabs his mouth "remind me next time to use mint flavored webs."

It can be done, as flicks like Kill Bill have shown and what not. Nobody has ever applied it though.

Like Liotta's character from Goodfellas. I would like a combo of that and the verbal charisma of John McClane.

breaaak theeeeee fooooourth waaaaall! :awesome: nah we wont get that until Deadpool

There are a lot of Spidey quotes I think are cool, and most of them come from The Animated Series from the '90s. Spider-Man had a very humoristic personality in that series, as Peter Parker he was serious, but when he was Spider-Man he was always making jokes about his enemies. I loved it.

Yeah, that's what I meant. :) And I don't even think it's an option, it HAS to be in the film if they are going to show any kind of respect to the character. Spidey NEARLY says things more in his mind than he does out loud! It's a part of the character. Just as big as the quips.

That's what I've been saying from day one. Ever since I saw that the series was being rebooted about a year ago that's all I could think about relating to the topic. How the 90's Animated series would be in real life. The quips were amazing and added so much to his character. All we heard from Tobey when he was in the costume was "hoahhh, ha, hummmhhh haaah!" And the odd one liner... Dissappointing to say the least.

If his quips should accomplish anything, it should be a sense that Peter really is a teenager. It's been said before that the anonymity of being Spider-Man allows him a confidence that he doesn't have as Peter. Let's see him be a little immature. Let's see him act like the most outspoken teenager in the class trying to give the sub a hard time. Only that sub happens to be a bank robber, and he's multi-tasking this with beating them up.
