Nice suit! Will you be offering commission work on suits like those in the future?

Damn...you would make one suit that badass and never sell them to anyone...
I agree..But I herd they are really hard to make and Time consuming as well...I would spend at least 1 thousand dollars just to get my hands on one of them if I had the money because I know thats how much they sell for maybe more than that..Although Brad you did an awsome job putting that DK suit together it does look awsome. Nice Job ;)

Ive read back through this thread (where'd the old one go? sorry left for awhile)...and havent seen any mention of the fabric used for white comic eyes...

anyone?

White fabric doesn't work well for the eyes, visibility is so limited. Over the years I've experimented with a few things and wire mesh spray painted white looks best on camera and for visibility imo.

Nice to see this thread back on track..for a while it was dead I feel bad Brad is the only one posting photos of his Projects on the thread..sorry guys im not a suit maker myself... if I were I would be posting many photos of my spidey suits as well and sharing more of my ideas of how to create and improve a perfect Replica Spidey Suit.. Although I do love to see and comment on other peoples work I think its nice to see when people post there ideas and work on this thread I dont care if its TDK Spiderman IM...I like to see it all. Comic Con is just around the corner so maybe we will see many more photos of fans in there spidey costumes or other Marvel DC Costumes then. :woot:

If you scroll back to page 12, there's a pic of Brad's spiderman mask (Ultimate maybe) that has a visible texture.

It looks like fabric to me, but I'm waiting to hear from someone who knows.

I already know that wire mesh method...and it's not good enough for comic style eyes.

Someone who has white comic eyes...can you chime in? Please?

Is that mesh in the photo? Maybe I'm wrong??
LOL You know the best thing about these Comic Lenes is that they look soo clean you cant really tell rather if its White Painted mesh or White Lycra inside the Frames..Nice Job Brad. :woot:

So I take it from the smiley with the teeth that you were just trying to be insulting, then?

No.. of course it's not insulting... but he is aware of what it is and is just looking out for my hard work. :) Thanks for keeping my secrets bro!! I dont mind helping guys with questions when they're making suits for themselves.. but not when they're going to use my hard earned knowledge to go into business.

Brad, you and I have already spoken by PM about this and I figured it was resolved. I understand the position in regards to competition. Fair enough.

It's fine for someone to protect your work...but to rub it in my face is a bit *****e-baggy.

And let's be clear, you haven't really helped out a lot of folks with much info in these Spiderman creation threads. More than one objective newcomer has come, asked for help, and replied that there was no real help to be had. That's happened MULTIPLE times over the history of this ...and the original thread.

You know what's funny...Mike Romanenko...even with all the stuff he's gone through...was much nicer...and forthcoming about creation methods than you.

Back when I was just someone who wanted to buy something, I asked if you could do a detachable mask and gloves. Wanna know how you responded? You said "Can't be done. The suit won't look right" Hmmmmm. Looks like you changed your tune once other people started doing it.

I realize that a lot of this might come off as sour grapes since we're in competition, but once you basically said the gloves are off...here's what you get.

Here is a pic of my almost finished suit from free comic book day.

Nice Symibote Spider Suit AZSpidey..I love it..I also Like the Comic Con 2009 Photos of Last year but what we need to see in this years Comic Con in July I think is hot females dressed up as the Wasp, Black Widow, and Maybe Spider girl..oh and did I forget to mention we also need to see Green Lantern, Captain America, and the Flash.

Aw shucks, come on guys. There's nothing wrong with a little friendly competition, lets continue to enjoy making sweet Spidey costumes and watching what innovations folks come up with.

You can see I very rarely post, in fact its usually months in between them. I'm sure I've met a lot of you at conventions or did business with you. Can we just get along?

I didnt think he was being "*****e-baggy" , just complimentary to me. :woot: And I still think the movie suit looks best done in one peice to keep true to the design and it's still the only way I do the urethane webbing suits. My Printed webbing suits I do offer with a separate mask and have done so since day 1.. but good for you for doing everything in parts. .. and yes, your gloves come off, mine still dont...but maybe one day. :woot:

LOL...and I was anxious to ask you that question Brad. But now that you mentioned it and brought it up to my attention I guess its ok to ask.

Are you looking to make suits in pieces in the near future instead of a one or two piece suit I would love to see how your suits turn out as a 7 piece suit using Stur-ups and Clip-ons where the gloves come off the mask the boots, pants..etc im sure you get the point.. Although, I also do see your point in keeping the movie suit design as a one piece very simple..but then again when a 5 or 7 piece design movie suit comes along?? :woot: Maybe in the future you could show us something like this in either Urethane or Printed that would really be something to look foward to seeing with your designs.:woot:

If someone has there heart set on a seven peice suit.... I'd do it. I just try not to make more work for myself then need be. :D A urethane webbing suit done like this just wouldnt look good. There'd be lumps under the arms and neck where the webbing overlaps, so it just looks better to be in a 1 piece suit... and in my opinion you're either fully in character or not.. But that's just my opinion.

Thanks Brad it has taken me years to get this far

Ok so I'm closing in on the eye thing I think.

I'm looking at both cloth and mesh possibilities.

Mesh:
There are several sites that have mesh from 80 microns up past 2000. One of these could yield good results. I'm getting samples from 150 (human hair sized holes) up to 600 microns. There are multiple types of white plastic as well as different kinds of metal.

Cloth
Got a tip from a mascot maker about a fabric called Buckram which is used for fabric stiffening. There are various sizes of holes in this stuff as well as different consistencies.

Crinoline and a few other fuseable interface fabrics also look like a possibilities.

I'll update when I've gotten some of the samples.

EDIT:
Thank you to several people pm'ing me with ideas and things that have worked for them. The notion I've gotten several times is to use frying mesh strainers - that this has the best mix of tight weave and visibility.

Once I figure this out, I'll post the info for everyone to have. I'm not just doing this for myself - but for the community.
