Splinter Cell: ConViction

I haven't finished Oblivion or Bioshock, myself. I suspect I never will with Oblivion.

I'll finish it.

Someday. Someday.

But Gamefly doesn't actually give you a time limit. You play a flat monthly fee and you can keep games however long you want. The fee is like $16, so given that most new games cost $60, you'd need to keep a game for almost 4 months to lose money with Gamefly. Really, the only downside to Gamefly is that you can't necessarily play what you want right when you want it. Unless you get really lucky, you're probably not going to get new games right when they come out. But I'm used to being behind on games, so I don't mind that.

Hmm. Interesting.

I might look into it once I've gotten all my current games out of the way. I've still quite a bit on my plate, still.

I dont think CoD is a squad based shooter, i mean you aren't controlling anybody but yourself. Rainbow Six: Vegas and Brothers in Arms are squad based shooters. Call of Dutys main draw is its MP, thats where it separates itself from every other FPS out there. The SP in the game is about as average as you can get, but its MP is one of the, if not the best MP experiences you'll find on consoles. Just playing the single player in CoD isn't doing the game any justice.

Yeah, I don't think COD4 is a squad shooter. It's basically an FPS set in a war setting, basically.

I took forever to beat the single player, but I very much loved it. Like, alot. I did play it, from the start to finish, on veteran so that's part of why it took me so long.

I probably get alot more out of it, personally, from the single player I think. The scripted events work nicely, too. Makes it feel like an action movie, sorta. The only thing I found to be a negative for COD4 single player was the respawning of eneimes. Hate that to hell.

Yea, i hate Deatmatch as well, i always play team based modes. MP, isnt really for everyone. If you don't have a competitive drive, chances are you wont enjoy it. I have a buddy like that, he's never been very competitive and he's one of the worst ppl to play with online. No desire to win.

Interesting. I think sometimes, it's the amount of time someone is willing to sink into online play. I know some people ONLY play online, and probably don't even touch single player modes.

Haha, iv played with ppl like that. Im competitive, but not that competitive. I mean i dont just jump online to goof around, i expect and want to win, losing isn't fun, at all, ever.

Yeah, I've noticed that if I log on just for fun...and not in a competitive frame of mind, I might get my ass kicked. But, after a while I just get pissed off and want to settle scores. I probably don't practice, or put enough time to refine myself, for online gaming.

Same. Any game that'll allow me to boot ppl without mics, i do.

Didn't know it was that important to some. Mostly b/c of how at times...we'll be swamped with d-bags with mics.

I don't think I've ever used my mic on Xbox Live, though. Ever. I think.

I with Corpulent on the "no multiplayer" stuff. I tried it back in college when Half-Life was the game to play. I tried the multiplayer side just so my buddy would shut up to me about it. After a few rounds of play, I quit. Nothing about it appealed to me at all.

I then went back to what I bought the game for, the story being told in the singleplayer game.

In the 11 years since, my only dealings with multiplayer is reading that section in the manual. And it's pretty much the same as what bored me in the Half-Life multiplayer. The only thing that changes is the game title, game engine, choice of weapons, and quality of graphics.

I love MP, and I never have my mic on. I just really don't want to talk to people over XBL.

I've been playing Deathmatch since Doom, Quake, and Goldeneye. I only recently got back into it with COD4 and Halo. It is the same thing over and over again, but I enjoy it.

I really disagree with you, there are more variables to it than weapons and engine changes. Team Fortress, counterstrike and halflife deathmatch are different games with different variables in gameplay other than "weapons" and the engine change such as class systems directly changing how you play the game, speed, ballistics, item pickups, XP system, physics, health and objectives. If you attempt to play counterstrike as you would play halflife deathmatch you would probably die within 40 seconds of most rounds. There are no gameplay styles in either of the games similar to that of playing the spy in team fortress 2, as a spy, chances are you wont be using a gun at all, rather cloaking and uncloaking for backstabs. Even Team Fortress to Team Fortress 2 has massive changes in gameplay balance. The main thing they share in common is pointing and shooting along with playing the same maps over, the variables outside of those can still make an apple and an orange.

If you disagree with me, fine. It's not like I'm going to run out and play Counterstrike or Team Fortress because I can play as a character with unique weapons and strengths so I can capture the flag for the umpteenth time or rescue the same batch of hostages from the same area or take out the same group of anti-terrorist agents.

I've been playing PC games online for a long time. It's really this newfound reliance on mics that bugs me. When people just typed to each other in PC games, you could tune it out. Now you can either deal with obnoxious people or mute your chat stuff, but then some people just boot you or whatever.

I don't mind talking with people if they arent total DBags....but that is about 90 percent of XBL...

and im good with that...Sam looks like he's about to deliver a hurtin' on someone

Haha yea me too. Really good looking cover. Still wish they would minimize the Tom Clancy logo, so its not covering Sams head, but still a really slick cover.

Yeah, it's solid art. The previous box art looked too much like Double Agent's.

I like the cover alot.

I'm hoping that the Tom Clancy logo gets moved to the lefthand sidebar like usual.

But, it looks badass.

And, I must say...even for DA, I quite enjoyed the MP. I liked the stealth aspect of it. That appeals to me slightly moreso than a straight up DM, althought I have my moments when I'm up for it. But, they really need to bring back Co-op play. I think that would please an entire legion of people.

DA MP was imo very addictive .... I knew it had all sorts of problems but I simply could not stop playing the damn thing, for about 3 months I just ran around Dawn Waves and the rest trying to improve my stats.

And it got my excited too, just trying to sneak around and then escape right before they began to start popping off shots.

As I've said before, the stat evolution was absolute tripe.

He looks a little bit younger there than in Double Agent to me. Maybe it was the baldness in DA.
