Square Enix's Avengers

Marvel Studios is skipping Hall H this year because Ant Man will already be out and Captain Marvel is thenonky other thing to share. I figure they don’t want to announce any of the other films coming as they will ruin A4.
They will still have a booth though and other Marvel Comics/TV panels.

It's just a rumor, so we'll have wait & see. But it's been a while

While Marvel fans were treated to a surprise reveal of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order at The Game Awards last week, there was another Marvel game that everyone was looking forward to seeing more of. That would be Square Enix's The Avengers Project.

With the Russo brothers joining the livestream to present an award, it was thought they would also introduce the long-awaited Avengers Project, which was first announced back in January 2017 via an intriguing teaser trailer. But the Russos came and went and there was no big reveal, leading to some serious disappointment amongst fans.

We don't know much about the mysterious game, except that it's being developed by Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind 2015's Rise of theTomb Raider reboot. Well on Friday, Shaun Escayg, creative director on the game, offered a very brief update on the status of the game. Via a simple tweet, Escayg assured fans that The Avengers Project is still very much in development and call it a "very ambitious game."

Thanks everyone for all of your interest in The Avengers Project. We’re hard at work on this very ambitious game, and are excited to share more when the time is right.#reassemble@CrystalDynamics

Unfortunately, Escayg's brief tweet offers little else in terms of details. We still don't know what the actual game is or when it will be revealed to us. At this point, a 2019 reveal seems most likely, perhaps at E3 in June. Assuming that's the case, we're looking at a release no sooner than late 2019, but more realistically 2020 or beyond.

Of course, given the age of the current PS4 and Xbox One systems, it's entirely possible The Avengers Project is in development for the next generation of systems, which could explain why we still haven't seen anything.

A game based on beloved Marvel heroes, The Avengers project is being crafted by Crystal Dynamics – longtime developers of the award winning Tomb Raider series – in collaboration with lauded Deus Ex developer Eidos-Montréal. The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.

The Avengers Project is coming, but unfortunately, no one knows when or to what platforms.

I will be upset that we waited all this time and its on a platform we all hate or in a format that is meh... me personally would like an Avengers game in the same vein as the new Spiderman and the Batman Rocksteady series.

I dunno, the way they mention gamers "being able to play in the universe for years to come" makes me think it may have more MMO and/or RPG-ish elements to it
basically Elder Scrolls: Avengers, you can travel to Wakanda, Latveria, New Attilan, Savage Land, etc
I know they already got some mobile rpg's, but idk, that wording makes it sound like some sort of persistent open world type game

As long as you actually get to be the avengers I'd be okay with that I guess. I took that whole universe line to be sort if an MGU type thing.

Please share some good info!!! A trailer would be a sweet bonus but not expecting a new trailer until E3 and then maybe a game informer cover story after that

Is this thing still on? Really haven't heard much since the announcement.

Well at least the Fox deal should mean more Marvel games in the future.

I just want to finally see some gameplay...

I would love it but it just seems to be one of those projects always hinted at and never delivered

Where's the Ron Burgundy "I don't believe you" gif at?
