Yeah I'm losing hope already.

[/FONT]A recent vision statement released by Tomb Raider and Deus Ex developer Eidos Montreal has created concern among fans that the studio is abandoning single-player games altogether.
Studio head David Anfossi stated that Eidos Montreal is placing an added emphasis on the online experiences in our games, striving to continually provide players with content that is memorable and impactful.
Several job openings involving online multiplayer and programming accompanied the statement, with director of online technology Sebastien Bessette adding that Eidos Montreal is working to empower our content creators and promote an iterative game creation process that will ultimately lead to one single goal, that being to deliver the best online gaming experiences to our players.
Following the cancellation of Visceral Games single-player Star Wars gameback in October and the popularization of the games as a service model, Eidos Montreals statement has come across to some as a death knell for the single-player Deus Ex series, especially considering that publisher Square Enix placed the series on hiatus back in January.
However, Anfossi somewhat dispelled these rumors in a recent Twitter reply to a fan who expressed concern that Edios was no longer going to produce single-player games:Twitter Ads info and privacy15 Dec

@DavidAnfossi has announced that Eidos Montreal will be "placing an added emphasis on the online experiences in our game." - RIP Eidos, it was nice while it lasted. For any other devs reading this. PEOPLE WANT OFFLINE STORY DRIVEN SINGLE PLAYER GAMES! #PCGaming #Gaming

Nobody said we give up the narrative single player games; this is what we like to do. Where did you read that?! 6:27 PM - Dec 15, 2017
Whats more likely than the complete abandonment of single-player games is that Eidos Montreal is looking to expand the online multiplayer components of its current titles.
After all, the studio is reuniting with Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics to work on The Avengers as part of Square Enixs multi-game deal with Marvel, which will most likely have some sort of multiplayer component.
Not to mention the rumors that Eidos Montreal is heading up developmenton the recently confirmed Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the next entry in a series that has a largely ignored but still solid multiplayer mode reminiscent of Uncharteds. Its possible that Square Enix would like to see a larger return on its investment into the Tomb Raider series by expanding the multiplayer, and maybe thats where Eidos Montreals online focus comes into play.

Developer Crystal Dynamics is assembling its team of industry talent to bring its game based on Marvels Avengers to life. The developer and publisher Square Enix announced today that it had hired 15 top industry talent to the Avengers development team, including former Naughty Dog creative director Shaun Escayg and Stephen Barry, a 27-year veteran of EA and Visceral Games.
Escayg, who served as creative director and writer on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, will serve as creative director on The Avengers Project. Barry was previously director of product development at Visceral Games, where he worked on the Dead Space franchise. Visceral Games was shuttered late last year.
As for the other hires, Crystal Dynamics studio co-head Ron Rosenberg touted them as world-renowned industry veterans, spanning production leadership, animation, design, art and engineering, who have previously worked on games such as Batman: Arkham Origins, Dead Space, [and] Star Wars: Battlefront.
hMMM, Let's not talk about this game likie it; afighter style genre game. how ever I'd like to see other that have joined the avengers inthis as well. it wouldbe cool to see. and I'm sure the story will be fineImpressive. I really hope the single-player, story content is meaty. I'd be down with having a starting roster of just the big Four, Cap,Thor,Iron Man and Hulk. Then they could add more characters as time goes on,kinda like InJustice.

When both Square Enix's and Marvel's Twitter accounts teased impending news yesterday, we figured there would be some superhero goodness coming to the next Kingdom Hearts game. After all, Kingdom Hearts is a mix of Final Fantasy and Disney, and Disney owns Marvel. It only made sense.
We couldn't have been more wrong. Instead, we're getting a brand-new series of games under the title Avengers Reassemble.
Avengers Reassemble trailer: Square Enix and Marvel team up
Let's cut to the chase and watch the trailer.
A job listing for developer Eidos Montreal has some worried that the upcoming Avengers game will be filled with microtransactions.
Eidos Montreal, who is developing the Avengers game with Crystal Dynamics, recently added a listing for a monetization specialist who will [m]anage and improve the in-game stores in terms of content, experience and pricing strategy.
To be clear, the job listing does not specifically reference the Avengers gameor any other Eidos Montreal title, for that matterand seems to be a overall company hire. Besides managing in-game stores, this monetization specialist will also be tasked with creating and managing A/B testing campaigns inside and across Eidos Montreal titles, meaning that this position will seemingly manage marketing campaigns for multiple games, not just the Avengers.
Still, we wouldnt be surprised if the Avengers game did include microtransactions in some way. After all, there have been major hints that the Avengers title will share some similarities to online games like The Division or Destiny based on job positions that Crystal Dynamics listed for the Avengers title. Perhaps most tellingly, Marvel stated that the game will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come when it was originally announced. That definitely sounds like an online title to us, and microtransactions are all but guaranteed, considering the legacy of different costumes for Captain America, Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man that scream with microtransaction potential.
More immediately, this monetization specialist could hint at whats to come in Eidos Montreals other upcoming major release, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which may include a multiplayer mode similar to the one found in 2013s Tomb Raider before it was unceremoniously dumped in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Microtransactions could easily include new character and weapon skins, as well as DLC maps and other standard multiplayer microtransactions.
Impressive. I really hope the single-player, story content is meaty. I'd be down with having a starting roster of just the big Four, Cap,Thor,Iron Man and Hulk with their moveset and powers. Then they could add more characters as time goes on,kinda like InJustice.
oy that gonna take some explaining but it hastodo with the game company that made the game have owner ship while only the characters were liccened out to tehm like their on loan . nottomention the fact that the current head of activiton has been screw over marvel since the dead pool game and formner dev's that left the publisher have said so. btw I remeber apost saying in a nother thread that they had tibitsof story where doom was the next villan and it seem like a loot ofthat showed up inthe first chapter of marvel heroes omega and marvel was sayin that marvel heroes omega was what marvel allince and x-menlegend were and both thos latter games were in spired by diablo to them whichwas why they had MHO made in the first place. anyway un tilthere's a new head act activison or untill the head of blizzard takes that ip of marvel allice away from the head of activsion which isn't likely another game isn't likelyYou know its so weird, so many fans are asking for marvel ultimate alliance, you would think someone at marvel would have delivered by now. It must be the easiest way to make your fans happy and yet they dont seem to have any idea?
