Yeah, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the character designs get a major overhaul before release, particularly after the obvious reaction they've received. It's clear this game isn't close to being a finished product, which begs the obvious question of why these people dared to show it? The hype is legit dead for half of the fandom, if not more.

Probably just showed it so people can get an idea of the game and since the release is in 11 months. The important thing is that the game gets completely polished by release day

If the game is supposed come out in under a year, I think it gets delayed, or it just looks like...this.

Unfortunately they barely showed anything. We know that it supports 4-player co-op and is a live service game. Those are the two big points. Then minor details like there will be cutomisation but no paid lootboxes. Oh, and we know that the character models look so bad, that the majority of people are starting to question the game.

Alternate costumes and customization won't be minor to people. I mean maybe there will be changes but even if not, it's confirmed that there will be some new original costumes and designs and some will be classic stuff from comics and other places.

Which means we won't be stuck with these default suits and there will be character skins for options

Outside of Hulk these character designs look absolutely nothing like the MCU

Sorry maybe I wasn't clear. I'm not saying they look the same, I'm saying they obviously drew inspiration from the films, nothing wrong with that. Again I actually like everything I saw in the promos and am genuinely curious about this.

I have no clue how anyone could look at these costumes and think they even remotely resemble the Movie costumes. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because its so far off it's laughable. Between fit and texture and their silhouettes and just every single element of these costumes looks like something somebody slapped together using pieces of other costumes from party city. If you honestly think they're nearly identical, all I can say is I'm extremely glad you're not a costume designer for the MCU

Look at those two shots and tell me- with a straight face- that these two costumes look alike
And Thor's is even worse

Maybe this will help clarify this more. No they are not similar at all, I agree. What I would say happened here is the took a concept that worked in the movies, making a more military style outfit vs what's in the comic book, and simply made it more military like. They even have him with Captain insignia bars on his bracers.

Yeah I hear what you're saying, can't argue that there is some form of influence being carried over from the films (mainly in the coloring and supposed "grounded" tone) but like Nathan said above, it's a weird mishmash of slight mcu-influences and original designs that just don't mesh well at all.

I guess, if I were to make a [non-hyperbolic] comparison, this Cap's costume looks to me like one of those "Real Life" Superhero people who walk around their neighborhoods in homemade costumes
And Thor looks like a background extra in a bad History Channel reenactment

I think I am back to being cautiously optimistic for the game. Easy Allies seemed impressed by what they've seen, and Laymen Gaming seem to be pretty satisfied as well. I would link a video of the latter, but Sam and Ralph sometimes use colorful language.

Still need to see the gameplay for myself though, and hopefully I have luck and manage to get into the beta.

Thor is definitely my least favorite design in this, but I actually like the Cap design, although yeah the hair modeling on him, not sure what went wrong there.

Maybe this will end up being terrible, I hope not. I loved the Spider-man PS4 game, but I realize that was a different studio.

The one thing that really strikes me as what must have been an odd coincidence is the "5 years later" thing. Unless the writers on this game had some sort of interaction with the Marvel Games guys that knew what was going on with Endgame, it's just weird that there is this catastrophic event, and there's even a memorial for it, and then picking up 5 years later.

Probably because they realise it's a waste of time. People have been following the MCU for 10 years. We know who these characters are. That was one of the things that annoyed me, that they took their sweet time introducing these characters to us during the presentation.

We don't need the cast to tell us what the characters are like. I'm pretty sure a good portion of the people in that crowd watched Endgame.

A lot of old stuff, but confirmation that the devs have been listening to feedback about how the characters look. So fingers crossed that the characters will look a lot better at launch.

Thor looks like he has fake beard because the model couldn't grow it himself.

Listening is a good step but doing something about it is the biggest thing. They don't even need to be completely redone but just tweaked enough like buff up Thor and change up his face to be older/more muscular. Maybe even shorten the beard

It’s funny how right after we got one of the best looking Cap suits in Endgame, we get one of the worst looking ones with this game. He looks like a SWAT officer cosplaying as Cap.

Hulk probably looks the best by default.

Overall I’m keeping an open mind about this one. It could actually end up being a good time but for something with this much hype I expected better character models at least. As well as a more interesting lineup other than the 2012 team minus Hawkeye.

A couple of tweaks here and there and everything should be fine. I mean some one did mention how wheels off Parker looked in PS4's Spider-Man, me never playing the game, googled him, and yeesh, he looks worse than these discount Avengers, and Dr. Octopus?. Well the less said the better.

Bottom line, I can live with Joey Fatone Iron Man, as long as the gameplay kicks ass.

If there's changes to the character models, Thor needs to be buffed up and be blond along with Cap. Everybody else just needs faces tweaked

It's fine to make the art style, graphics and story grounded in semi realism but the characters can be a bit stylized and especially their faces
