Square Enix's Avengers

People always declare laziness. There are hundreds of reasons why game developers may not do certain things than it being because they're all"lazy"

It would suck for Joe Fixit to have regular hulk's skin. It wouldn't make sense but we don't know if those leaks are final versions of the alts. Wait for official releases closer to launch

Looks good to me. I just wonder if that its limited to 5 playable characters? Aside from the costumes, I don't have a problem with it. It looks like what I imagined for an Avengers (Marvel superhero team) game that is in the same level as Spider Man 2018/Arkham games. Lets hope the gameplay would be more addictive and have replay value since it looks like a linear game. hopefully there's plenty of collectibles and power/skill upgrades as well.

Doesn't seem top quality like Batman Arkham or Spider-Man PS4 but still fun and a decent fix for a superhero game of it's kind. I can see myself enjoying/playing this in small doses!

So, I am seeing that it isn't that different than what they showed behind closed doors, at which point, I have to ask, why?

I don't know about anyone else but I'm pumped!!

That little section of Iron Man gameplay was what I hoped the movie games would've been. A bit of on-rails-flying/fighting (hopefully there's more) and then ground fighting. They even managed to get his repuslar blasts to look accurate.

Looks like they also tweaked the helmet. It looks like a combination of comic and movie. No complaints here. And the suit looks great.

Everyone else looks great also. Can't wait to play as Black Widow.

The only thing that worries me about the combat is seeing Thor doing the same punch and kick combo 3 times in a row! Other than that though, each character has their own unique styles that make it fun in different ways.

On rails doesn't bother me too much

My hype is definitely elevated after this demo. The improvement in the two month's time since the reveal is quite impressive. I'm really happy how much more dynamic Cap's combat is looking

Eh, didn't help my hype at all
Pros
-the atmospheric effects and textures and all look very good
-the mocap and character animations look smooth
-Kamala!

Cons
-Cap and Thor, as always, look horrendous
-Cap's shield is basically just "round Mjolnir" it coming back to him via magnets or whatever like in AoU makes it less unique, and I don't care for the lighting around the edge of the shield
-Combat still seems very repetitive and boring
-Flight looks slow and way too on-rails
and
-Taskmaster looks pretty much just as bad as Cap and Thor, mask is bad and the rest of the costume looks lazy, imo
(that fight also seems really annoying, I hate "stun the enemy so you can finally hit them" type battles)

And what, they couldn't make Widow interesting enough so they gave her a Thor-Punch and invisibility?

I understand that you can't have deep combo systems with so many characters. I mean, DMC 5 had three, and some characters got more work than others. But, what they showed feels a bit too much like a prettier version of Ultimate Alliance 3's combat.

They took Captain America blowing up pretty well :funny:

Yeah, I'm not too sure about this. Still not really feeling anything I'm seeing.

That was horrid. Play any section for more than five seconds and you realise it's the same combos being performed over and over again. It looks like a dime store beat em up from the 90's I found cringey as a kid.

The demo looked really good. Dynamic environments, varied gameplay with the different characters, polished graphics...

Hype assembled!

That seems to be the case with all third person action adventure games. They either have a handful of combos or no combos at all Arkham didnt have a large number of combos, and most of the time it was just punch, punch, punch, dodge, cape swipe, punch. The Assassin's Creed games are just hack, hack, hack, parry. And shooters have no combos at all.

So all the extra characters they'll be adding, are they going to be from a list of past and present Avengers?

Batman (and by extension Spider-Man PS4) might not have had a ton of combos, but the dodge system and the combat looked a lot more natural and dynamic and interesting than what we're getting here. You could flow from one baddie to another seamlessly and take down a group in a way that looked like a cutscene, yet still gave you full control. Here it's just "knock down one guy shooting at you, walk to the next guy, knock him down, repeat."

Beta impressions will be very be interesting sometime next year
