Square Enix's Avengers

Not from what you've described. There's some false endings.

Likes from @DarthSkywalker and @Snow Queen!? *****es, please! You don't even know what this guy is talking about unless you actually have the game and finished the story campaign.

Everyone shows up and gets to shine. Be patient
Dude, I saw he posted in the thread and was curious what his thoughts were as I know he's a big Marvel fan. I'm not buying it, the demo and visuals put me off, I don't think I've said otherwise. I liked it to give him a little thumbs up on his thoughts. The weirdly confrontational response was not necessary.

People can not like this game. It’s ok. Simmer down.

I am pretty close to what seems like the final mission, and my opinion stands.
Considering who my favorite Avengers are, I am happy I waited on this. I love Kamala, but as one who isn't too much into the loot grind of this game, I want to play as all my favorite Avengers during the story mode, and substantially. Maybe Black Friday.

Everyone gets to shine...at the end of the game. Doesn’t make up for the lack of shining throughout the entire rest of the game.

Why does this game only have 20 reviews on Metacritic after being out for like a week?

Game came out yesterday. I believe it was IGN who mentioned that their review copy unlocked on the 1st. I don't know how long it takes these guys to write a review but I assume more reviews will start pouring in soon. Might also be a case of wanting to spend more time in the Avengers Initiative mode.

Whatever, it's not about not liking the game. I am simmered down. Drank cold water as I posted that.

So you too. Please! I bet you're one of their pals and they came to you about my post

Nobody came to me. And I’m not the one lashing out at people who post opinions I don’t like. This is a pattern with you. I’d suggest instead of back-talking at mods who are addressing it, you consider addressing it yourself if you’d like to keep posting here.

You think FC and Spider-Fan are my pals?

I do like the idea that they want to review the online aspect a bit more before reviewing it. I am not exactly happy when a game releases without many reviews, but at least this is a good reason.

It's not about opinions I don't like either. Just let the ****ing story play out. All characters get to shine even if smaller screen time. There's also side missions and solo character stuff.

I am lashing out and it's the way I am. I already addressed it by telling telling you whatever. I was trying to move on! I don't give a damn if you're a mod or not. I don't have to kiss your ass!

It's a patern when provoked. Why does darth always have to randomly show up and question me? That dude asks too many questions and has such a desire for people to explain themselves to him

Alrighty then. I guess we'll see you in a couple months. :)

I don’t cry to momma when people reply to me. Man, my post must have triggered you. My advice: get thicker skin. Not everyone will like what you like. Deal with it

It is a criticism you should have expected. From the very beginning of showing gameplay, they said that there would be story missions that are locked to a certain character. In a game like this, that rubs people the wrong way. Especially since certain characters are locked till later. It was a criticism that Fall of Cybertron received, and that was a generally better received game than this. In a game where you give the people the option to play their favorite character, it is generally best to let them do that as soon as possible.

Correct me if I am wrong, but when they announced the game the tag line was something like, "Play as the Avengers" or "be the Avengers". The emphasis being you'd get to play as those 5 core Avengers. And well, that sets expectations.

They announced Kamala way too late in marketing and when they did they never explained she was the star of the game and that's who you would spend the majority of the campaign as. The Avengers should not be guest stars in their own game.

There also seems to be a dire lack of Marvel content overall. It seems you only have three bosses that are recognisable characters, the rest being generic AIM bots. The same with most grunts. How is that rewarding for a fan who has been waiting years for an Avengers game hoping to fight iconic villains?

This game has some serious issues and for me the gameplay isn't good enough to excuse hanging around for a year to see if it feels more complete by then.

I'm also skeptical as to just how much new content any character update will bring with them.

Fighting bad guys is fun and each character I think handles well. The biggest issues the game has are:

1 - Not enough proper boss fights

2 - Not enough emphasis on the Avengers people want to play as in the campaign. I think doing a Reassemble story with a young POV protagonist was not the best way to go. Should have just been about the Avengers and getting them together quicker

3 - Side missions are all basically identical. Harms replay value on multi-player

4 - Why on Earth is the campaign not repayable? Completely stupid and not forgivable.

Those are my major game issues.

I don’t understand why they didn’t just make this a Marvel universe game rather than an Avengers game, if the Avengers aren’t the main characters.

Because the name Avengers sells? Also technically pretty everyone is an "Avenger", kind of. So they can fudge it I guess.

I read that you can't re-spect your characters. Is that true?

It's fine for comic fans but for the GA it could be a bit of a disappointment. If their fave is Cap or Thor for eg and they are playing as characters they don't even know and then there is not much focus on those 2.

What does that mean about respecting characters? I haven't played much myself anyway, not really much of a demo guy.

I am with you. I just think they are doing it for the casuals really. To make them think this is all about those characters, when it isn't.

Sorry, I meant re-spec. Basically it is where you reallocate upgrades and stats, so you can play different and such. Considering you apparently only get one version of each character, that sounds like they need to fix that. Now.

Personally I think the bait and switch will disappoint fans just as much as the general audience if not more. I have trouble picturing many fans suggesting we should play most of a campaign as a new pov character like Kamala over the Avengers in their own game.

As for re-specing your character, the impression I get is it's not needed as you just keep leveling and unlock the abilities you do want instead.

Oh right, yeah I know about re-speccing. They need to have some kind of equivalent option as when people first start a game they just want to enjoy it without worrying about skill trees and the worst thing is when you are ready to dive into that stuff you realise you put your early points into things that won’t help and maybe even will stop you getting the things you really wanted by the end.

If you can unlock everything eventually then no problem. I’d prefer that.

Yeah, I’m personally fine with playing other characters but the people who have only seen the films and aren’t fans of much beyond that might not be getting what they wanted.
