Square Enix's Avengers

My guess is that they mainly want people to play multiplayer, where you get to be your favorite Avenger for as long as you like and just keep playing with friends / other people. In that sense, the campaign is the starting point to unlock the characters. If you are looking for a core campaign that is a straight Avengers story from beginning to end, this ain't it. It's just the nature of the story they are telling, the type of game they are selling and having to juggle five huge characters. I suppose the campaign plays more like an "Endgame" situation where the payoff comes at end. But with less...Dusting.

People will like this approach or they won't. Thankfully I am enjoying it very much, and will do the Avengers Initiative thing. I'm also curious to see how this game develops over time with the content they will add.

Hopefully the story content they add with the new characters satisfies. I imagine they couldn't go all in on villains and locations because they needed to save content for the next few years. I'm almost done with the story and its definitely light on marvel lore. Which is really odd. I suppose they don't want to tip their hand at whats in future content. But spider-man ps4 did it right, they managed to make the game explicitly about spider-man and get a bunch of cool nods to the wider universe.

Spider-Man also had a bunch of boss battles that were really fun. What few boss battles we get in Avengers are fun, but just way too few.

One of my biggest issues is how buggy the game is. It need a whole lot of work on the back end. And I've seen just about every kind of major issue in this. From camera and motion problems, to audio dropping out, Facial animations being frozen, major clipping issues. Its a very glitchy game.

liking it so far I just finished the prologue and trying to get to the park where Cap's statue is yeah I agree there is some slight glitches but for little I paid for the game (50 dollar gift card for the win!) I am still happy with the game and I am sure they will have updates that should fix them (hopefully).

Worst glitch that happened to me twice was my task in a couple missions could not be completed. Like couldn't hit the required button, break the required item, etc. So I had to reload from checkpoints

I'm wondering if the lack of Marvel content is because they had a list to begin with that they planned to eke out over the course of a couple of years, or if mcu games are facing a similar problem to the DC tv shows. Are they being forced to synergise with Disney/Marvel's plans and deal with certain restrictions in regards to stories and characters?

I actually think what they wanted to make was that core single player game. The MP came about from the higher ups, along with the loot system, marketplace, etc. So they started with an idea, but that got morphed into something more commercial if that makes sense. It makes me wonder how long the original intended campaign was.

I wanna play the co op stuff but it tells me that unless you finished the campaign there will be spoilers I am conflicted LOL.

I'm so glad I have this uniform, because I can't stand the other ones. As soon as I unlocked Cap in the main campaign . I just went full steam ahead and unlocked this beauty. It looks like MCU suit from The First Avenger with the upgraded from The Winter Soldier in the museum.

Yeah I've had that in mind.

That's a beauty. One thing I definitely like about this game is how Cap's shield looks on his back while he is running around. Reminds me of the First Avenger game a bit.

Game came out yesterday. I believe it was IGN who mentioned that their review copy unlocked on the 1st. I don't know how long it takes these guys to write a review but I assume more reviews will start pouring in soon. Might also be a case of wanting to spend more time in the Avengers Initiative mode.

I do prefer it when reputable places like IGN take their time with reviews. Nothing annoys me more than when reputable websites hastily put out reviews to beat everyone else to be first, without even scratching the surface of games.

I was reading the user Steam reviews for the game on PC & while the reviews are all mostly positive, some of the more well written reviews mention that the game has a lot of bugs, glitches & performance issues.. which was pretty much what I'd seen from the demos. There was no way it was all going to be cleared up a week before official release.

A lot of them also suggest waiting till it's on sale, which is what I plan on doing. Still not sure if I'll go for console or PC though.

Yeah but if I'm not mistaken reviewers get these games earlier, like two weeks earlier than retailers. Youtubers without their own site, get big games earlier as well. Even in this era, a lot of games/campaigns can be done in 2 weeks, unless that person has to complete every single side quest and platinum the game. But is anyone doing that who might have a deadline in sending their reviews? Idk.

The glitches are bad and without questions the framerate issues from the character design renders need adjustments. Plus the cutscenes need to be polished up a great deal.

The game needed more than just AIM. It needed some side mission/stories with B or even C tier Avengers/Marvel villains.
