Square Enix's Avengers

Well it's an Avengers game. That is what they are hyping it as. I want to play as the Avengers. This is like hyping a Spider-Man game, and then saying you got to create your own character who has similar powers.

Spiderman is a single distinct hero. Avengers is no single hero. It's a rotating roster and Marvel can introduce a new hero to at any time and they have. So the Avengers property is perfectly suited as an RPG with a character creation engine that allows players to create their own hero.

You know that is not how the general public sees it at all. Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, Widow, Hawkeye, etc. When you say you are going to make an Avengers game, that is what people want and that is what they think you mean. The chance to play as the Avengers. Not make your own fake Avenger. :funny:

Oh, I remember that. I was one of those players. I had never really played all that much. Basically when I was bored and wanted a superhero gaming fix. But I had just bought the new Apocalypse costumes that were released for Storm, Magik and Jean. And what seriously felt like the next day, they announced the cancellation. I was refunded everything, of course, but I was shocked because it happened to quickly and seemed to come out of nowhere.

So timeline wise, the reports of Disney cancelling Marvel Heroes were released on the 15th of November 2017 and the announcement trailer for the then called Avenger's Project premiered almost a year before on the 26th of January 2017. I've thought about the connection before, but not in a while considering I haven't thought of Marvel Heroes at all in a very long time.
I was one of the early beta testers for that game and one of those that helped actively improve it to the point it got most improved game and was keeping people inform both on the marvel heroes forum's and on the hype then mr. brevik left cause he want to be a creative again and running a studio is fun for those that are creatives and sadly some from out side the studio of gaz too over othe share holders other then marvel and the game fall apart due to that new Ceo's have a rep for sexual allegation's and treating his own worker terrible over at Gaz. I didn't really recover from that when that loser ruined the game and didn't even let the game play on past marvel request to let be on console past Christmas .

the usual people attacked me(which was my personal last straw) during that & it went on for months and I'm planning joining marvel now after I've finish my studies in the gaming industry and hopefully convince to have gaming studio's under them. I'm leaving hype caus all that crap.

it's about time they have some game studio's under them, so they can have permanent games so this and what happened with them & activison doesn't happen again like with the dead pool game among others. there nothing wrong with partner's and licensing out however if every there is regime change at one of those studio's or game publisher and the new studio head or publisher head decides to screw them over or in what happened marvel Heroe's omega's case they are also better off have better control and they should have gaming studio's in their own control like they do for their movies this way they won't constantly run into this trouble and them doing a shared gaming universe will always keep things interesting & fresh. as you just found out the people that made over watch are headed in that direction. and the people that made the anime inspired RUBY. marvel really should step up in there.

In the mean time this is not an MMo or a multi player shooter or a multi player vursus game . it's just 4 playe co-op added to single playe which is story driven . we'll see more this week finally

The tagline "Embrace your powers" is giving me a strong "YOU can be an Avenger, too!" vibe. I hope we're wrong here, but all signs point to this being one of those games.

So I've been thinking about this whole "What if you create your own character" thing that's been circulating. And being ever the optimist, I've been thinking about how you could make this actually work and work well. What would you all think of something like this?

You would have all Avengers as fully customizable playable characters. You can customize everything from their power sets to what they wore and they were all fully playable. However, you would also create your own new character at the top of the game and the story line would be seen from their point of view. Think Dragon Age: Inquisition. So, on missions, you would always have your character but you could take whomever else to complete your party of 4. So you could essentially ignore your new guy and just play as your favorite Avenger during any mission. Then in the hub, you would be your new guy and could interact with all the rest. Personally, I highly doubt that this game will involve character creation, but I do feel like this could really work with an X-Men game. Though who knows if they would ever try anything like that again after the disaster that was X-Men Destiny. Any thoughts?

I don't see them having us be new custom heroes over the true Avengers. That just sounds like suicide to me.

Somehow I get the feels that whatever is coming we wont be jumping up for joy.. Waiting.

This is reminding me of X-Men Destiny and DC online. I was hyped as hell for this, now, I'm only feeling dread and anticipating disappointment.

Geez what happened to everyone here. Tonight's the night though. I get the feeling we womt ne disappointed

I'm still excited and hyped but not sure I want to be in this thread until the conference

I'm leaning towards a MOBA-style game with a lot of PvE content (single player story aspect).

I doubt it would be anything remotely close to that. It's already been stated that it is officially that it will be in depth story driven which, to my knowledge, does not lend itself to a MOBA.

I was reading Square's Twitter the other day and saw mention of a universe gamers would be playing for years. My thoughts went immediately to DCUO. I was (and I guess, still am) hoping for an extension of XML/MUA, but keep getting the impression of something heavily online-based.

I mean, I could go for something like that. I do like Dragon Age: Inquisition. I guess we'll find out soon enough!

Uuuuuugh when does this start again? How much longer? I just wanna know if I'll be hyped or cry.

Anything happen? I'm not tuned into it.

What little gameplay we saw looked a bit clunky and scripted, but hey, it's early, so there's time to refine that. Feels reminiscent of Ultimate Alliance in a way.

Marvel’s Avengers will release simultaneously for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X, Stadia, and PC on May 15, 2020.

Play the Beta first on PS4. Pre-Order for Beta Access.

Ugh! The lineup is based off of the original MCU. That may have been okay were it 10 years ago. This game already seems outdated
