I am kind of baffled as to why some are saying this game looks nothing like the MCU or that its completely its own thing. It clearly looks inspired by 2012 Avengers movie. Cap has "practical" plates and stuff on his costume and a helmet for a cowl, instead of the classic comic book outfit or anything inspired by it. Iron Man and Black Widow look almost exactly like their MCU counterparts in the early Avengers movies. Thor looks... like a weird less impressive version of early Hemsworth Thor. Banner seems very like his Mark Ruffalo counterpart, only slightly younger looking.

Honestly... this game could be really awesome but the design choices look a bit lazy and uninspired. I am looking forward to playing it but it doesn't look nearly as inspired as the first look we got at Spider-Man PS4. I am a little meh on the design choices of this game right now.

I'm meh on nearly everything. It looks like a late last-gen game that was remastered instead of a late current-gen one. Maybe the beta can prove to be fun to play with others, but it seems I have to preorder the game to access it and I'm not doing that.

They should open it after the lukewarm reception they had.
That trailer was boring and nearly everything looks uninspiring to me.

Good thing my expectations were set to 0. They were met, but I'll be waiting for actual gameplay.

After somebody posted a side by side comparison on Twitter, I just had to look up the other recent Ironman designs that are showing up in video games. So down below we have Ironman from the upcoming Avengers game, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and Ironman VR. The only one that looks like a cheap chinese knock-off toy is Crystal Dynamics Ironman.

Aesthetically it's simply not pleasing to the eye. They really need to replace whoever is in charge of characer design.

Hopefully that means they will fix the character design and the costumes, as well as adding Hawkeye. Imo Captain America needs a complete redesign and overall.

I wonder what they are going to do with the roster complaints. I think that, more than anything, is where Ultimate Alliance puts Avengers to shame. I mean, there were some pissed off people in the crowd at the reveal about the lack of Hawkeye.

The suit is fine but yes the helmet is weird. Specifically the top of it and shiny face with what seems like a little nose

Yeah well when you have another Avengers game being shown off at the same conference with dozens of characters, the idea that they couldn't even get all 6 movie Avengers in the game seems ridiculous

The mouth also has a slight upturn and the eyes have no brow ridge, which gives the mask an odd smile, as opposed to the more pissed off stern looking face of all the other iron men

I read somewhere that they teased Hawkeye in interviews. Ant-Man may not be the only one featured later in the story

I believe or hope the 5 will be the starting team then expand as the story goes on

You know what I'd do with the faces? Model them after the voice actors maybe even motion capture. They have some major motion capture vets on that cast.

From what I've read in articles and other places, it seems the criticisms is diverse as some people wants MCU actors and costumes while others wants comic book style. Crystal Dynamics made the mistake of being inspired by the MCU because the models come off as cheap knockoffs and not the real deal or that original

I really don't understand why they went with the extreme grounded and realistic approach. Cap is part of the Avengers. And just like in the comics and movies, I am pretty sure Tony Stark is footing the bill, paying for gear and tech. You'd think Stark would outfit him with a very leightweight and durable uniform, that can withstand all kinds of damage.

I kinda feel sorry for them. They did create real outfits of their costumes to display at E3. So, are they gonna get tossed into the trash now, if they actually revamp the character and costrume designs?

I'm not expecting default costume changes as there are alternate costumes and customization in the game with more being added later including skins.

The main priority will likely just be character model tweaks than a complete overhaul.

If they revamp the main design on them it's not like the ones they have now cant be original alts. They said there would be classic and original skins.

True. It could be possible to start the story with these suits and then upgrade to new designs ones or some of what they already have planned. There's a 5 year time jump and so Tony or another unannounced characyer could have made suits just in case or simply wear old suits because these ones are bad memories to them because of what happened

Yeah and hopefully, like Spidey PS4, the costumes in cut scenes will actually update based on the suits we choose to wear

These games always have suits you can unlock and wear during the game. I don't think the design is really going to be a major issue on if this game succeeds or fails, it will come down to mechanics and game play.

I am really rooting for this game and hope it excites me as much as Spider-man did because I think people need to realize that these characters exist outside of the films, and really for anyone under the age of 30 they primarily know these characters through the movies and nothing else.
