Marvel's Avengers will be releasing for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC in May of next year. Players will be able to play as the iconic members of the titular team — Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, Black Widow, and more.
It's the latter one of those heroes who has proven popular among the developers of the game. Recently Vince Napoli spoke to VG247 and explained why Black Widow is Crystal Dynamics' favourite playable character. Being the lead combat designer for the upcoming video game, Napoli thinks that Natasha Romanoff's popularity comes down to how fun and versatile her gameplay is.
“I chalk it up to the fact that we get to play with her speed and finesse from an attack animation and ability standpoint and at the same time mix it with advanced tech and gadgets. The result is that she feels incredibly versatile, being able to deal with all sorts of combat scenarios and amazing critical strike moves.”
We found out more about Black Widow just the other day. There, Napoli explained that Black Widow's playstyle is partly inspired by her characterisation — meaning that she will be complex and hard to master. The developer explained something similar to VG247, as you can see below — along with a video which spotlights Natasha.
“I would say Widow’s inspiration is mostly based around realising the idea of Marvel’s Black Widow as a speedy rogue-like assassin. All of her attacks and abilities are designed around the concept of setting up enemies by putting them into exploitable states, which she can then use other abilities to take advantage of.”
Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Fans of the heroic Avengers comics by Marvel now have one more excuse to get excited over Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' highly anticipated Marvel's Avengers game, as the developers have revealed a fantastic collector's edition that includes a bunch of items that fans will definitely appreciate.
Today Marvel Games unveiled the Marvel's Avengers Earth's Mightiest Edition, which includes items inspired by actual in-game events like the Avenger's insignia, the Iron Man suit's blueprints, the mandatory Avengers-themed steelcase, a Hulk bobblehead, Black Widow's emblem, Thor's Mjolnir keychain, and Captain America's memorial statue.
The Earth's Mightiest Edition is also including a photo of the Avengers — minutes prior to the events that take place during A-Day — posing next to the recently revealed Kamala Khan(a.k.a Ms. Marvel); who we had already seen on the gameplay trailer for the game but has now been confirmed to be a playable character.
More details about the Marvel's Avengers Earth's Mightiest Edition are still to be revealed, although it is safe to assume that it will become available on the 15th of May; when the game finally becomes available.

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' highly anticipated Marvel's Avengers game may still be half a year away from releasing, but every new bit of information that the developers share about it make fans of the superhero team even more excited.
Just last week, during the New York Comic-Con event, Marvel Games released a brand-new trailer that introduced us to Kamala Khan — also known as Ms.Marvel — who will be joining Marvel's Avengers as a playable character; something that fans had already seen coming but was finally confirmed.
Today, Comicbook artist at Marvel Comics Mark Brooks has shared a phenomenal poster that he produced for Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers video game — which was also used during the Marvel Games panel at New York Comic-Con; giving us a look at the assembled team with Ms. Marvel front and centre.

Just yesterday, Marvel Games shared a phenomenal poster for Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' highly anticipated Marvel's Avengers; produced by comicbook artist Mark Brooks and featuring the assembled team with Kamala Khan(Ms. Marvel) front and centre.
As PAX Australia kicks off today, Marvel games has revealed yet another fantastic new poster for Marvel's Avengers by comicbook artist David Yardin — who Marvel comicbook aficionados may know for his work on several comics in the X-Men series.
What's even more interesting is that the developer has also revealed that PAX Australia attendees who play the Marvel's Avengers demo at the PlayStation booth will have a chance to get a print of the newly unveiled poster while supplies last; as if playing the game wasn't incentive enough.

Last week, Crystal Dynamics revealed that Kamala Khan A.K.A. Ms. Marvel will be a playable character in their upcoming Marvel's Avengers video game. While this incarnation of the character seems to be particularly tied to the Avengers, she's usually more of a fan of Captain Marvel.
Since we caught our first glimpse of her back when Crystal Dynamics unveiled gameplay footage of the "A-Day" prologue mission, many assumed that Captain Marvel must exist within the universe of Marvel's Avengers simply by virtue of Kamala doing so. However, we haven't got outright confirmation until now.
At New York Comic-Con, Comicbook.com asked the head of Crystal Dynamics whether Captain Marvel exists within the game's universe. Scot Amos simply replied as follows: "Well put it to you this way, Kamala can't be a fan of someone who didn't exist."
Narrative Designer Hannah McLeod also mentioned the existence of Captain Marvel whilst describing the abilities and traits of Kamala Khan — as you can see below.
Speaking of those polymorph powers, Kamala's powers have to do with stretching and morphing her body into crazy shapes. She can also grow to amazing heights, or as she likes to call it Embiggen. These powers introduce a totally new element to our game and make our combat and exploration completely unique. And before you ask, Kamala still writes fan fiction. She still knows everything there is to know about the Avengers and yes, Captain Marvel is still her favorite. That is something she and our players have in common. They love these heroes.
The studio has confirmed that we'll be getting more heroes to play as after the game's launch — such as Hank Pym A.K.A. Ant-Man and Clint Barton A.K.A. Hawkeye. While confirmation that Captain Marvel exists within the game's universe doesn't necessarily mean that she'll become a playable character, you can only assume that Crystal Dynamics wouldn't want to pass up to opportunity.

The first aspect to take note of is Iron Man’s Power Rating on his character card. Most RPGs have adopted a Power level system similar to that of Destiny’s to rank how well optimised the build is based on skills, perks and equipped gear. The Power Level is separate from the experience level. Having this in Marvel’s Avengers means that there will be a heavy focus on optimising your heroes in the endgame to take on tougher foes and challenges.
![]()
Secondly, on the right side of the character card we can see Iron Man’s four main statistics; Melee (427), Ranged (379), Defence (3292) and Heroic (409). These stats can obviously increase and be altered through levelling, equipped gear and perks.
The next notable region of the game menu is the gear selection. It appears that each hero can equip eight pieces of gear (it could vary with the character). Gear will come in standard gaming rarities: common, uncommon (green as shown in the image), rare (blue as seen on the gear selection), epic, legendary and exotic.
Each piece of gear will have its own gear power that will contribute to the character’s overall power level. Some pieces of gear will also have unlockable perks that will alter the character’s abilities. For example, The Night Fire Strike Gauntlets features in the image has the Night Fire perk which adds the ‘Chance on Headshot to trigger an Explosion AOE Burst’. Players have to collect different currencies through play to unlock these perks and presumably other bonuses. For these gauntlets, the player needs 50 silicate to unlock the perk. Gear can also be dismantled for a resources.

One can assume that gear might be separate from the character’s appearance as they are on different tabs on the menu. Finally, those who are uninterested in the game’s RPG mechanics can ignore them, but still remain appropriately levelled by using the ‘Equip Best Gear’ option on the bottom right.
Marvel's Avengers by Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montréal and Square Enix will launch May 15th 2020 on the following platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows and Google Stadia.
They are not scrapping the game. Even if its bad, its quite too late for that.
