This is what I'm talking about,.. forget x-23, or the Blackcat,.. a fully functional HUMAN Woman with a history and some brains,.. drawn the way she should be by someone with talent!!!!

I'm thinking it's only a matter of time that she and wong are forced to kick butt and take names.

As one of the Marvel heroes who is underplayed - SHE has true potencial (sp)

She is a step back to the days when female heroes were not all depicted as wannabe abrasive goth-issued ****s.

I have issue that the top ten marvel females ALL have something "wrong" with them.

She doesn't,...
Well her honesty is abrasive to some,...
And her unreported, offscreen interaction with Logan irritates,
But I would rather there were a squirrel girl comic before yet another "spidergirl".

Ditto, it's like that one picture where she's talking about how comics used to be a place to escape and be fun. I mean seriously, in a world of super beings, how hard is it to find one who's not on the dreary wagon. I know as a hero you face hardships and such, but as you said the "having something wrong" syndrome can be too heavy at times. Plus she has a eye catching costume that doesn't "**** it up." I'm at times fine with the "swimsuit style costumes" but it's nice to see something different and combat ready at times. I dunno heh

I'm adding to my Squirrel Girl Art by Googling Squirrel Girl,...

I was a complete innocent until I looked up what this was linked to.


I'm trying to decide if she has arrived as a character for someone to do "this" to her.

While I usually seem to hate every decision Bendis makes on Avengers, I do admit that it's pretty cute. Have no problems with it.

The Bendis Intro has grown enough on me,.. and the Slott infused Spiderman tete'a tet (sp) has convinced me that SQGL is in good hands.

I'm hoping that the Logan tie in is not too painful,.. just like her upcoming defeat.

Meh,.. depressed myself.

Well While surfing the web I kept coming across references of her only being in the Avengers book to get beaten as some strange way this would make her a legit character,..

I don't like the concept or the thought that she's not legit because she doesn't get beat like a drum.

I agree,.. even though in a few all night comic talks,.. (yes I'm nerd enough) It was accepted that Logan has been raising his girlfriends - there are references of his taking a girl under his wing/protection, raising her to adulthood using her and then leaving her when she got "old".
(I remember a story of WW2, I remember Tiger Tiger, Kitty Pyrde, then Jubilee, then Armor,..They don't always end up that way,.. but he keeps doing it.)
Because of this,.. It wouldn't surprise me that He knew Doreen,.. their powers (Sans regeneration) seem to run along the same lines,.. even though she is faster and stronger.

I'm new to SHH and have been a HUGE fan of the Arboreal Avenger since her first fateful encounter with Dr. Doom and Iron Man 20 years ago. Nothing makes me happier than to finally see her in a mainstream comic. I just want to know, after reading all +1,000 posts, are any of you psychic? Can you see into the future? You've been able to predict practically her every move from her crush on Speedball to her swimsuit appearance on the cover of the summer fun spectacular, and even her joining the New Avengers. So happy so see such a large collection of SG fans collected in one place and for your viewing pleasure I present to you Squirrel Girl vs. Wolverine:

New Avengers #15, her first solo mainstream adventure (finally!). SG kicks Wolvie's arse in only 7 panels. As Tippy Toe says "That is so in continuity. So just deal with it fanboy"

I read once, will have to find it again, but a word from Bendis's editor saying that there was never a relationship between the two, she won a fight and that's it. The question is, do we believe it? After all, they are on a first name basis and she does show up in his fantasies:

I think it's hilarious that they're a former item since she broke his heart. She was one of the ones that got away judging from their dialogue and he was the obvious loser in the break up. I love ol' wolvie, but that's hilariously awesome.

She was also one of the first names revealed as a playable character in the upcoming Marvel MMO. SG is everywhere now!

As a side note, I would like to personally extend my deepest and most sincere appreciation and gratitude to you Mr. Slott. If not for you, she might still be hidden in the depths of Marvel obscurity only to be a matter of trivia. Because of you she is mainstream, spreading her nutty pluck across multiple titles and mediums.

Let's not forget Dan Slott made sure to have Squirrel Girl cameo in the episode of "FANTASTIC FOUR: WORLD'S GREATEST HEROES" he wrote, which aired in 2006.

This bit from NEW AVENGERS is a little awkward for me because of Marvel Time and Doreen's age. She was a teenager when she first appeared in the 90's via Steve Ditko's Iron Man story with Dr. Doom, which means it's only been, at best, maybe 4-6 years later in "Marvel Time" anyway. I'm not sure how old Doreen is supposed to be now, but I don't think she's much older than 19-21 now. The point being is this tidbit suggests that Logan dated a minor. Now, to a mutant who is at best about 113 years old, he's ALWAYS dating a minor, but actually dating someone who was probably under 18 at one point seems really, REALLY gross for him. Especially now that he's running a school.

Of course, characters age at different rates when they're off screen so who knows.

It is good to know that Slott's work on the character has gotten her very close to mainstream.

Wolverine dating aside, the subplot of her being the nanny for Danielle Cage is actually pretty cute.

Franklin and Valeria would be quite a challenge for her. She needs to sit the Future Foundation STAT!

The nanny idea is adorable and genius. I don't know why other super powered parents haven't tried something like that. It certainly would of helped a certain 7foot tall Liefeld creation
