Star Trek Sequel

Yeah, for some reason, I'd be cool with never seeing a Klingon again in the Trek universe. They just seem so cheesy to me anymore. The only Klingon villain I ever really liked was General Chang (Christopher Plummer) in The Undiscovered Country (still, they couldn't think up a better name to give him than Chang?). I'd like to see more new races.

Oh but please God don't ever bring the Ferengis in.

The Klingons from the tv show were much more like Chang. Very similar to humans, only more violent and sinister. People want to see Klingons, and it would be weird if they never showed up in the movies when they were always around in the show. They don't need to be the main threat though. Hell, the Federation could even form a temporary partnership with a more independent Klingon leader to defeat whatever the threat is. It doesn't have to be the same old thing.

I'd prefer to see the movie deal with the fallout from the loss of Vulcan.

One of the four founding worlds of the Federation was just destroyed, with 6 billion lost, in what's essentially a Romulan terrorist attack from the future. I'd like to see the social results (paranoia, persecution, beefed up security) and economic fallout from losing a key member world (economic disruption, having to support the new Vulcan colony). This would be an opening for less trusting member worlds to join together to try to change the Federation the way they want to prevent this from happening again.

This could lead to things like civil war, giant (and smaller) space battles between Federation ships. Or other groups may try to take advantage of the weakened Federation, again leading to some great battles. All while the inner conspiracy rages on.

The Klingons need to make their presence shown in the sequel....they are a major part of the Trek mythos.....but not necessarily as the main villians or protagonists.

I would really like to see more done with the Andorians. I really like what was done with them on Enterprise.

There has to be some carry over of fallout from the destruction of Vulcan.

Have some character from the old series be in it in a significant, but not main role (like harry Mudd).

I think Andorians would be cool if they featured in the sequel.

As long as Quinto is back, I'll be happy.

Before ST actually came out, he would've definately been the first name to come out of my mouth of who needs to be in the sequel, but after seeing the movie... sure he was fantastic, but Pine, Pegg, Yelchin and Urban were ****ing epic as well.

I would really love to see all of this in the sequel. This idea is 100% :up:Citrus Approved:up:. Have it all set up a huge villain for the third movie and it's GOLD.

Javier Bardem for Khan!

Bardem would nail that role. It would feel just like Ricardos Khan but with less suave and more bad-ass.

I say no to Khan. This franchise needs to go in its own direction, and I'd be very disappointed if they went through all the trouble of creating an alternative reboot timeline, just to go down the exact same road as before. The Wrath of Khan has been made, its still a great movie, we have that. JJ's Trek should choose its own path.

The point being though....if they do Khan in a sequel...it will not be the Wrath of Khan....it will be the first appearance of Khan from Space Seed. Which will now play out different due to change in dynamics of the main characters from the timeline change.

Yeah, it would be the younger Khan meeting Kirk for the first time like on the show. They would have no history with each other.

The whole cast is signed for three films

But Space Seed has already been done. The Khan character has been done, and done very well. The new Trek should move onto new adventures.

Why not new adventures with familiar characters? Space Seed was done in an alternate reality. Kirk and Khan can meet again under different circumstances. It's not the same story...

It'll essentially be covering the exact same ground though. This is a new Trek, and I'd like to see new ground covered.

I want a Federation-based storyline.

- The destruction of Vulcan could lead to a peace treaty between the Federation and the Romulan Empire; this drives the Klingons to seek to destroy such an alliance

- The Planet Killer (Doomsday Machine) could be a threat that all the planets of the UFP, and Romulan and Klingon Empires face.

- And at some point, Kirk needs to fight a Gorn. It would be epic.

I'm done even arguing this. I'm 99.9% sure it aint gonna happen, so I'm just done.

I'd like to see the next one go to the roots of the series which was a blend of space adventure mixed with social commentary.

Just like the reintroduced and revolutionized the crew, I'd like to see some revolutionized truly fearsome badass klingons. Remember, their fleet was wiped out so, in all probability, Kor, Kang and Koloth should be dead. Make way for a new revolutionary klingon to bring a return to the ways of Kahless a few dozen years early. Cue the predator with ridges facemasks of the deleted scenes and watch these guys carve a path to the heart of a weakened federation. Wowza.

OR do Space Seed 2.0. Whichever floats our boat.
