Star Trek Sequel

Agreed! Keep "Admiral" Pike around as a mentor and father figure to Kirk.

Some changes that I would like to see in the next film.....

1. Change the interior of the bridge a bit. The color should look more metallic instead of hospital white. Leave the hospital white color scheme to sick bay.

2. I would like to see some auto belts attached to bridge personnel especially during yellow alert or when they go to battle stations? The science and technology is supposed to be there, but no safety belts during evasive manuevers or warp speed?

3. The sound effects for the ships phasers, hand phasers, torpedoes need to be changed also. The sound effects they used in the previous movies sounded better than this films sound for the guns IMO. JJ should use a similar version and upgraded sound effect that was used in the Wrath of Khan.

4. StarFleet uniforms need to be upgraded a bit and not look so old fashioned yet with a modern cheesy flair.

5. Perhaps have a younger, sinister, version of Khan teaming with the Klingons? Maybe meld Khans origin with him genetically engineering the Klingons to look how they did in the previous films with the rough forheads compared to what they looked like in TOS. Or perhaps Khan can be involved in the genetic makeup of the Cardassians??

6. It would also be good to see perhaps Carol Marcus be introduced so we can see Kirk show signs of maturing.

The only issue that I can see with the new Star Trek movies, is that the relationships aren't going to quite have the same impact as they did with the previous movies. The relationship between Pine and Quinto is never going to be as good as Shatner and Nimoy, because you got to see this relationship grow through the TV show. You're never going to get the priceless "Holy ****" reaction on Shatner's face when he sees Khan pop up on the viewer screen. One of the few great advantages of a TV show moving into movies is that you already have a cast with lots of history together. I don't think we'll quite get that with the new Star Trek franchise, but I'm still excited as hell to follow it.

They used metallic surfaces in TMP and it looked terrible imo.

Nah, I loved the inclusion of old TOS sounds.

I'd like to see her introduced also. I just don't want it to seem forced in.

After seeing it for the 2nd time, I think a a bit of darker grey metallic would look better than the white hospital look of the bridge.

Old TOS sound effects were good for this one, but I think they need to be switched up for the next film. The sound effects that were used in the the Wrath of Khan have always been my favorites.

I think JJ, Orci, and Kurtzman should at least introduce Carol in the next one, and then maybe have her be pregnant at the end of the film.....surprisingly.

If a younger version of Khan is introduced in the next film, he should certainly not be killed off.

I don't understand. Nero was sort of modeled by Khan in the first film, would it make any sense to have another revenge story?

I just don't want to see Khan. Who knows, you could make up a better villain, though that will be tough.

The thing is with Khan, is that there is so much more to him than just the Botany Bay and the events of TWOK.

Plus, since this is the beginning of an alternate type reality for the young Enterprise crew along with a reintroduction to new younger audience who didn't grow up watching the TOS and in some cases the previous films, it would be a good time to reintroduce a younger version of a major Star Trek villian.

To me it's very comparable to how Nolan decided to go with the Joker in TDK, even though Nicholson played the Joker almost 20 years before.

The last time the general movie audience has seen Khan on the big screen has been almost 30 years! That's a loooong time ago fellas.....

Honestly though, they gave her A LOT in this film, more than everyone expected..

Trek basically centers around Kirk, Spock and Bones.

The others have always been secondary characters in comparison.

What did they give her besides Spock's tongue down her throat?
They gave all the chacters at least the ones plastered on the posters interesting qualities even Scotty who wasnt even in half the movie except for Uhura

I think Uhura should definitely have a bigger and more important role in the next film. Her role should have more depth than Bones' in the overall story IMO.

Maybe have Uhura almost die trying to save the Enterprise or something?

If they were to go with that direction, it wouldn't be a revenge story. Khan's ambition was to rule the world in his time, but why not the universe?

The problem with a reboot such as this, where you are using the same universe is that there are 3 seasons of TOS voyages out there waiting to be discovered and to be considered the legends that they will become, this crew has to be the ones to deal with them. You can only make up or cajole so much into a new story line when you've set it in an old universe. It would have been better if they'd done a clean reboot and then they could've made up anything or anyone they wished.

It's a shame because I would have loved to have a seen a remake of "Balance of Terror" with the battle upgraded and lengthened. But the tension that was given to the episode once it was found out that Romulans and Vulcans are related would be lost because of this movie's story line.

Im almost certain her role will be bigger in the next one. It seems like they are going to start a Uhura-Spock-Kirk love triangle...at least thats the vibe I got from the film.

Exactly.....the revenge angle with Khan would be built up in the next film....not just introduced like Neros story was in this last film. Plus the Khan story angle would most likely conclude in the 3rd film and not this next one IF he were to be reintroduced. IF JJ, Orci and Kurtzman are going to go with Khan, he will need to be involved in two films more than likely IMO.

I don't think they should go with a love triangle story between the three.

That would be a waste of time IMO.

Dr. Carol Marcus will need to be introduced soon and that is Kirks true love.

Bones is the character that does the least, not Uhura. They upped her intelligence significantly too, which is really the important part. In the series she was often the character that asked the dumb questions to allow for the audience to learn something from Spock or whoever.

i think its funny that people are suggesting names for the sequel when there isn't even a plot for a name to summarize. not to be a jerk at all. it just tickles me.

They didnt give Sulu **** to do except Sword fight.

Wow...
1. That sword fight was badass
2. Sulu developed from that guy who messed up the first jump to being a confident and helpful member

Uhura was just an empty love interest who didnt develop at all

Dont split hairs on me, Sulu didnt do ****.

^^^???How am I splitting hairs

Sulu wasnt like the biggest character, he wasnt the most interesting but he was in the best action scene in the movie. Sure they didnt give him much besides that but it was still more than Uhura

Sulu - screwed up first jump to warp speed. bad ass fight scene. helped destroy the machine.

Uhura - presence at bar helped start Kirk's career at Star Fleet. Confirmed Kirk's story to Cptn Pike. Kissed Spock.

thats about all their characters did in the movie. 2 important things, and one meaningless thing. Seems about even to me.

I think every character had their moment. Sulu will get his moment in the sequel.

Yup, ebery character got thier moment. Plus, Uhura's more presence is a welcome addition over the TOS episodes. She really is a great character when fully realized. We saw some of that in this film, she has the potential to be just as great as the leads. I'm sure she'll have more to do in the next film.

There's nothing wrong with a character being the same at the end as they are at the beginning. As long as their tested in some way, it can be interesting. It would be silly to have everyone go through the same "I've overcome my initial screw up" bit. Bones, Uhura, and Scotty do not go share in this. They're just useful from the very begining, and that's that.

Buts its better when they change. it's called character development. Uhura didnt have anything to do thats my opinion. I mean she didnt even make ppl laugh or anything thats just how I see it she was like MEgan Fox in Transformers all she was was eye candy

...but I do love eye candy

Well she did her job. Just like Sulu is always doing his job even when the action isn't focused on him and Bones is being a doctor even when he isn't onscreen. You need her to get in a fist fight or be funny to have value, that's fine. Her role is more defined by her relationship with Kirk and Spock, the same as Pike. I've no problem with that.
