EA Star Wars: Battlefront II

I wonder when we'll get the PC requirements? I hope my PC can run it.

man I thought that game was boring and overrated

Depends on how much you enjoy Heart of Darkness or Apocalypse Now. It was also a nice deconstruction of the military power fantasy that was (and arguably still is) dominating triple A games at the time. Mechanically, it was a standard cover shooter so I definitely understand where your coming from.

never saw either. Your last statement is right on the money. Was very generic and i dont feel the gameplay was nothing to write home about

I'm kinda of two minds for how Obi-Wan should be implemented.
I want Ben Kenobi, I want General Kenobi, but I don't think I really want two different Obi-Wans in the game, not with so many possible heroes in this game.

General Kenobi for sure. Wearing that sweet armor, fighting alongside clones.

Heart of Darkness is the novel that Apocalypse Now and Spec Ops was inspired by. The praise Spec Ops: The Line got was solely for its narrative and its deconstruction of the military shooter genre. Nobody's singing the praises of its gameplay. I find this exciting for Battlefront because it shows EA might actually give a **** about this IP by bringing in an actual writer and an appropriate one at that considering we're playing for the Empire. Based on this choice, there might actually be a possibility of the main character not joining the rebels by the end of it... so good on EA for making me shut my jaded mouth lol

You could argue the generic aspects of the gameplay were in service of the deconstruction the game was aiming toward. It had the surface-level trappings of your average third-person military shooter but it was almost a disguise to what the game really was.

Trailer looks amazing. I had fun with Battlefront I, but it's lacking of a campaign really did hurt it for me overall. This one seems to have a pretty cool concept for a story. Can't wait to play it.

I wonder if Kyle Katarn could pop up in this... He did start out as an Imperial...

Yeah, I'd rather they leave Kyle Katarn alone. Rogue One already shat all over him.

Hmm, why do you think they crapped all over Kyle Katarn in Rogue One? Because he didn't steal the death star plans? That's only the tutorial level in the game. He's done more as a character than just that. :o

Yeah, they most likely won't put him in it, but I was just saying it could work, and would make sense.

Maybe the heroes pack will include some of the Clone Wars jedi/sith. Especially Ahsoka/Asajj Ventress... I'd love to see those two.

Because that film failed to be more entertaining than that tutorial level from a 20 year old FPS.

I had a few issues with Rogue One but it's a good film. I love Dark Forces as well, but Rogue One I think created something more interesting in how the plans were retrieved than the first level of DF.

Not to me. Rogue One literally put me to sleep.

Now that Star Wars Battlefront II has officially been announced, its developers have been having fun dropping tiny tidbits of information on Twitter.
While we probably won’t find out much big news about the game until E3, the developers are answering some of our smaller, but still important questions. For one, the game will have dedicated servers.

@DICE_FireWall I really enjoyed the freedom of the star card system in battlefront 2015 will the class system offer the same freedom?

@Max_B_sithjedi it's not the same freedom, but you can definitely customise your trooper class quite drastically to suit your playstyle

Also, it seems that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will change up how the reloading/cooldown system on weapons works, though the details are currently under wraps.

Finally, it seems that any equivalent of the original games’ Galactic Conquest mode probably won’t be showing up, based on evasive answers from two different developers.

Though a lot of Star Wars gamers are pretty glad that EA DICE is finally adding a single player campaign to Battlefront II, a lot of fans aren’t too happy with the idea of depowered heroes. Star Wars Battlefront was centered on the heroes and villains in the franchise, allowing gamers to cut through rebels and stormtroopers once they got to play iconic Star Wars characters like Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker.
Now DICE is switching things up by dialing down the power of these heroes and villains in Star Wars Battlefront II. Though gamers aren’t too keen about the change, Battlefront community manager defends EA DICE’s decision by saying that the gameplay will help gamers understand the value of these characters much better in Battlefront 2.
“I think you need to keep in mind, even in the movies and stories heroes didn't just run out and [start slaughtering enemies]. They were tactical and mindful of their situations. Maul was never running out and taking on 19 other troopers and a Jedi. He was smart and decisive.
Overall heroes will still be very much amazing things to have on the Battlefront, but you will need to be mindful of their abilities, how they play and use them to the advantages they bring to the table. Can opportunities arise in being able to slaughter your opposition, sure, but you need to be tactical about it. As we reveal more about the heroes and how they play, you will get a deeper understanding of their value”

DICE creative director Bern Diemer stands has also been trying to help gamers understand why they made the choice to depower the heroes. In an interview with PC Gamer, Diemer explains:
"[They tended in Battlefront 1] to drift towards players with the most kills or lucky players, because that's how it goes in these games," says Diemer. "We said, no, we want something that makes it more likely that more players will experience that. So, cool idea. What happened then is, we had more heroes in the match at the same time, and that meant the troopers were kind of becoming the fodder. As a single trooper, it's very difficult to stand up against a hero—much less two.
"We thought, how can we give you more tools so you're able to hold your own against a hero, at least for a certain time? And the best answer we could come up with was team play. How can you make team play more attractive? And the obvious answer is by classes, because it's so natural that if you're playing classes, you look for your buddies so you have a good mix of what you together feel comfortable playing."
While it may feel really good to play like a good whenever you can play as an iconic Star Wars character in Battlefront, DICE does make a point in trying to balance out the heroes and villian’s power. It’s unrealistic and doesn’t give gamers the challenge they deserve.

What a coincidence, that's what we wanted too!

Star Wars Battlefront was released in 2015 by DICE and EA. It wasn't a bad game, financially, but many die-hard Star Wars fans were disapointed with how it was completely devoid of story. Luckily, DICE heard this message loud and clear, and remembered it while developing Battlefront 2.
The 2015 release lacked a single-player campaign, and a campaign in general. The game was just a well-polished multiplayer shooter. Because the original games had great multiplayer in their day, story seemed to be completely put to the wayside. But in an interview with PlayStation LifeStyle, DICE creative directer Bernd Diemer talked about the things that were missing in the first Battlefront.
"On the gameplay side, we said, “Okay, we have the core gameplay…we’ve got it nailed.” There are things we need to improve and we want to build on, but the main thing we wanted to add was depth. Give more reasons to stick around, try out different heroes, try out different trooper types, and that’s why we introduced classes. There’s a little bit more variety in the team-play, not everybody is the same, and you can now form your own squad if that is your thing."
As a gamer who isn't much of a competative player, the idea of forming my own squad definitely sounds enticing. The gameplay of 2015's Battlefront was great. But much like a method actor, many of us didn't know the answer to "why?".
Hopefully this will all come to light when Star Wars Battlefront 2 on November 17.

I was unsure of the story when I first saw the trailer but after seeing it multiple times, I really dig it! I actually enjoyed the first game and so I'm damn excited for this one. It may be my 2nd most anticipated game of the year after Red Dead 2!

What exactly it is remains unclear.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was revealed last month at Star Wars Celebration Orlando which coincided with an in-depth panel that talked about all things related to its campaign and multiplayer. One thing it did not discuss, however, was the possibility of VR. Yesterday, PlayStation sent out a newsletter with a little thumbnail that seems to answer that question which was shared on NeoGAF.
Here's a screenshot of the post:

DICE's first Battlefront had an X-Wing mission that was used with PSVR, though it remains to be seen whether they will choose to expand upon the offerings. After all, it sounds like just about everything else is being expanded upon (campaign), so it's not out of the realm of possibility. You can probably expect all to be revealed at E3 2017.

It better!

Earlier this week it was revealed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will probably have PSVR support, but details on how much of the game will support the VR headset is unclear. While details on the game's PSVR support remain to be seen, EA's CEO, Andrew Wilson, has detailed that Star Wars Battlefront will feature a lot more content than the previous game.
According to Wilson, the game will have 'three times' as much content as the previous and new details will be coming over the next few 'weeks and months to come.'
"Star Wars Battlefront II will have more than three times the content of the previous game at launch, with a brand new story, a new single-player campaign, new modes, characters, vehicles and planets from all eras in the Star Wars universe, as well as a live service plan that will continue to add even more fun for the global community. Our Star Wars Battlefront II debut trailer has generated more than 16 million views across YouTube and other social platforms, and we’ll have much more to share about this game in the weeks and months to come."
We will likely be hearing most of the Star Wars Battlefront 2 news closer to E3. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is set to release November 17 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
