EA Star Wars: Battlefront II

Gamers are overreacting to EA's ‘Star Wars’ controversy, publishers should raise prices: Analyst

...The initial uproar centered on in-game purchases in "Star Wars Battlefront II." They allowed players to save time by paying extra money to accelerate the "unlock" of major characters like Darth Vader...

I think they miss the point, while raising a good one. Variable prices for games is a reasonable idea. Although I am unsure whether or not it would cause the crash of Triple A games that they already seem heading toward.

Predatory F2P models are not the answer.

I thought that was the point of season passes. You pay $60 for base game but its effectively raised with a $20-40 season pass. I wonder if people would be complaining less if EA did that again with this game bc they got ripped apart when they added it to the first BF game

The problem wasn't that the last Battlefront had a season pass, it was that they had the nerve to put hardly any content in the game, release it for full price, and then charge another $40 for the season pass that was needed to make it actually feel like a full game. Season passes are fine so long as the base game feels like a full game and the price of the season pass matches the amount of content it provides access to.

The analyst is, I believe, exposing the status quo view of the issue from a purely profit-based standpoint: as far as he's concerned, the market has shown the demand for Triple A games now includes pay-to-win elements, so why the fuss? That's not to say that he thinks fans want that, but rather, customers will accept that as a regular part of the business.

Basically, if people want this to be an actual statement, they need to complain just as much for other games.

We've already proved them right by being willing to pay for **** in the past, basically. No need to be generous if people will give you money regardless.

Right! Without the season pass, you did not have a full game.
That was the worst thing they could have possibly ever done.
About half of the heroes and villains were unlocked through the season pass.

Man, what a supreme letdown that campaign was. It started off so strong, but completely fizzled in the end. Disappointing.

I, literally, never expected too much of the solo player campaign.
I found it enjoyable at best. From what I hear, there's supposed to be
more story content coming in the form of free DLC. Maybe that'll make it better.

two articles from EGM added to theEPN.tv video articles from tonight. one confirming the sales drop. and the other talking about what EA hadto say to the investors. the latter likely the reason they are pushing up prices.

People need to boycott games that have season passes.

I would never in a million years boycott the Witcher III or Borderlands 2. Season passes can, and have, been done right by some game developers, there's nothing inherently wrong with them, they essentially just bundle DLC so it can be bought in one go, oftentimes at a lower price than it would cost to buy them separately, not all games with season passes are like the last Battlefront game.

I liked it for what it was, wasn't expecting a particularly in depth campaign anyways, just a fun addition to add some meat to the offline modes, I wonder just how much they plan to extend it through DLC.

I've read that the campaign DLC will add 3 more missions.

Its the Resurrection DLC listed for the 13th of December.

But apparently its recommended that you don't play them until after you have seen TLJ as it will contain events from TFA and TLJ so there will be spoilers.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 physical sales down 60% on Battlefront 1

I am really hoping here that the sales didn't simply move over to being mostly digital.
yeah I put that up with 3 article above killer McQueen and the others.and Ea have to calm investors

this is what's els is new

Hats off to EA. They almost snuck this out before anyone caught wind of the con job. Impressive too that EA managed to address every criticism with the previous installment, and yet release something even more contemptable in the process.

I really wish EA didn't have their hands on the Star Wars ip.

Every other Publisher must hate EA right now.

I imagine WB are hoping no one looks their way right now. Shadow of War's fourth act seems designed to encourage you to pay real money for random items. Plus they've just added a new mode which is a perpetual version of that with far less legendary captains. And on top of that their forum has a lot of people (myself included) complaining about missing season passes. Doubt they would enjoy the extra attention of possible fines and bans in Europe.

Good job, Mr. Lee. Good job. (with the reference)

It was only a matter of time before this crap was going to blow up in the industry's face.
