Star Wars: Battlefront

I've been considering whether to buy this game, but I'm not sure it's pick up and play friendly.

I love the idea of releasing some of the old games. Rerelease KOTOR and I'll buy the hell out of it.

If they were to make more SW games like KOTOR, but with different settings in the lore and characters I would play the hell out of it (if they were on PS4).

Seen a vid recently on IGN that gave the impression that it's got a bit of a learning curve. It comes off as though it could be a barrier to entry for someone looking for something fun. I'm not looking for easy and pandering, but I'm not looking for a game that I have to worry about not being the best to enjoy simply playing it or have content effectively locked off if you're not the MVP of the round.

I read that the flying was extremely simple.. That's all I care about.

Honestly I think there's a learning curve in almost every shooter. At least for s little bit.

I can't seriously imagine a Star Wars game* -a shooter no less- is going to be any more difficult to learn than any other game. You run around and shoot the people trying to shoot you, everything else you'll pick up as you play.

*I'm sure some of the older RPGs had a little more to them.

I can't see it being that much more difficult than the previous SW:B games.

The previous two games you played against questionable AI. With this game you'll be playing against real online players. It's going to be quite a bit different and harder for people who have never played online shooters before.

Oh, I thought we were just talking about normal, non-online gameplay. I've actually never played a video game online.

EDIT: Wait, there IS a standard offline mode in this one though, yes?

I agree, I think it will be a challenge as any online games can be, but I doubt the mechanics will be hard to pick up.

These were great SW games, but very very difficult.

I'm so stoked those are coming out for PS4. Hope Super Empire and Jedi come out too.

Here. Took a bit of searching, but I found it. It's a conversation between two IGN staffers. One who has played it and another who hasn't, but is curious if it may be for him.

Thanks.

Having watched the video, I'm not really seeing anything to fret about. All games have learning curves, and you don't have to be amazing in online shooters to have fun with them.

No.

I just hope there's the option to set up a private session and play solo against the A.I, which is basically single player/offline mode. You can do it in GTA and other games, it would be a shame if you're constantly forced to be in the same game as other actual humans.

****ing seriously? It's ONLY an online game? That's SO stupid. Looks like I'm cancelling my pre-order. I was so pumped about this.

I thought it had a mode called Missions or something, where you could play offline against bots. That sounded relatively similar to the previous games' singleplayer modes.

Yeah I'm pretty sure there are solo and co-op modes offline were confirmed long ago

I'm really, really not into online multiplayer. Aside from a few games here and there, I've never really played it to any large extent. I don't even have Xbox Live Gold or PS+. But even I'm pretty excited for this game. It looks amazing, and it looks like something that will be good fun to play online with friends. I'll have to pick up one of the online subscriptions when they go on sale between now and then.

I don't play much online anymore either but I just got a 3 month XBL subscription today for Gears of War Remastered and this game. I am enjoying playing Halo games online again meanwhile though

He was asking about "standard" single player, which I took to mean the typical story-based campaign.

I hope there is an offline mode against bots too. Good to learn maps and mechanics at your own pace sometimes plus it means you can play the game a decade later even if noone else is playing any more or if the servers have been taken offline.

There is NO traditional single-player campaign, but offline play is available in the form of a game mode called "Missions". You can play this mode alone or with a friend via local/online co-op. You fight against bots in a variety of Mission types including Survival, Battles, Hero Battles and Trials.

There is a game mode called Missions that can be played either solo or cooperatively, and will be filled with bots. This mode can be played either offline or online, so if the Internet goes down, players can still get their Star Wars: Battlefront fix.

Playing online game against bots is really boring. I would get bored after 5 minutes.

You wouldn't play those modes so you wouldn't get bored. Cool for the people it's designed for though.
