Star Wars Comics and Graphic Novels

Oh, a guest spot by Jolee would be awesome. I'd love to see him tell Zayne about his non-light, non-dark philosophy on the Force.

Which could influence Zayne and eventually lead to..

..if they do want to go that route.

Jolee reminds me of Qui Gon in many ways.

I tend to avoid any EU material that expands on the movies' time period, so I had no idea who he was.

So I was at Borders the other day and Brought some Graphic Novels. One that I brought that caught my eye and I brought was Star Wars Ifinities:A new hope.I really Liked it and I'm going to get the other two ASAP.Did any of you guys read it?

Nope. I tend to stick with the current titles that are out monthly right now. Other than that I didn't read much apart from Republic and a few other TPBs (mainly the classics like Dark Empire I, II & Empire's End as well as Crimson Empire I & II). Visionaries was a fav of mine as well.

For the record, I'm a bit disappointed with 'Vector' thus far. It seems horribly generic and I don't really see the point to it. Maybe I just have to wait to see how it ties together with the other eras. I don't have much hope however. Just seems like Dark Horse's attempt to create a major event (ala DC and Marvel) where there doesn't need to be one.

Yeah, the KotOR leg of the event was pretty humdrum. Is this random Jedi chick supposed to be the character who weaves through each era? I hope not 'cause she's... well, a random Jedi chick. Nothing memorable at all about her, really.

I think the character who weaves thru each era is probably just the Sith who created the amulet. Which most likely means he will either be a force ghost or just an interactive holocron recording.

Hopefully it picks up when Vader gets his hands on it in Dark Times.

SO I love Star Wars and I was wondering what you can recommend to me if i was just starting out into the comic book world,f or star wars that is. I throughly enjoy Learning about Luke and his Kids along with Han and Leia, can you point me to the books that build on these characters from the OT? Please?

Figured I'd bring this sucker back, since I've been taking the Knight Errant thread on all kinds of other Star Wars tangents lately.

I am on a total Old Republic kick lately. I bought the two Tales of the Jedi omnibuses and the "Vector" trades. They should be delivered tomorrow. I read the KotOR parts of "Vector" but never got the rest of the story. I hope it's good.

Vector is good. If you're reading KOTOR you'd know how the story starts. Its a good introduction to alot of those SW series that were in print in that period (KOTOR,Empire,Rebellion and Legacy). The Empire part is especially awesome because the artisit who worked on it illustrated the most epic Vader I've ever seen. The main character of Vector is pretty cool too. She reminds me of a Jedi Danielle Moonstar.

Corp, you do realize this thread will probably be bottom feeding once Knight Errant is done right?

Whatever. It'll serve its purpose for now.

I wish Dark Horse would just publish one series from each of the major time frames again.

I was thinking of getting the "Droids" omnibus just for the heck of it...

Time frames are messy with how big Star Wars is. Top of my mind we've got:

- Pre Old Republic
- Old Republic
- Old Republic to Sith Empire
- Sith Empire to a Republic Era
- Republic to Empire
- Empire to Rebellion
- Rebellion to New Republic
- New Republic to Galactic Alliance
- Galactic Alliance and Fel Empire to beyond

The highlighted timelines seem to be the most interesting to me. Old Rep to Sith Emp is the focus of the new Old Republic media that's due out.

I look at them this way:

- Old Republic = everything before prequel trilogy
- Prequel era/Clone Wars
- Original trilogy era
- New Republic
- Legacy

I'm especially interested in a New Republic comic series because I haven't seen much of that era, since most of it is covered in novels. I'd love to see some comic adventures with Mara Jade and Kyle Katarn and the Solo and Skywalker kids, though. I know we've got some, but they're very, very few and far between.

Katarn gets a lot of love in the novels but very little face time in the comics. He's one of the Council of Masters and I've never actually read about him prior to some of the recent Jedi-esque books.

I want to see the Solo kids more, especially Anakin. He's probably the only straight-arrowed Solo there lived.

I learned about Kyle from the Dark Forces and Jedi Knight games and just want to see more from Kyle pretty much anywhere I can get it. Fantastic games, by the way.

I recently read the entirety of Dark Times, and Blue Harvest is one of my favorite runs about what it means to be a Jedi that I've read. I recommend that (as I'm wont to do, admittedly).

I never read any of Dark Times because I tend to avoid movie-era stuff. I'm curious about that arc now, though.

Dark Times had phenomenal art Corp. You should give it a look just to appreciate the artwork. Trust me. Once you have Vector in hand and read the Dark Times crossover, you'll see what I mean.
