The Rebels title track:

I like Chopper. I think the crew is going to be fun to watch.

I find myself becoming more interested in Hera and the ghost itself right now.

Looked pretty darned good...as has just about everything I've seen from this show so far.

Finally caught the 7 minutes today and I am hooked! :D The sound of Star Wars just gives me chills, the Speederbike wooshes from ROTJ, the TIE-Fighter closing in with the swoop of ANH. The action, the tone and the visuals are all spot on!

Ben Burtt's sound design is one the things I enjoy most about the Saga, so I agree completely! It's great being taken back to the audio gold of tie fighters and speeder bikes!

I also can't wait for A New Dawn, that comes out in less than a month.

According to Freddie Prinze Jr. (around the 34 minute mark), Greg Weisman has left the show after the first season.

Also kinda implies that they're planning a second season.

It's not loading for me.

If true, that stinks.

Please, please, please, let it because Marvel is doing a new Spider-Man show and Greg is going to be in charge!

Try this link...the Greg Weisman discussion begins at 26:09. Very interesting discussion.

This is surprising news, as Weisman has been consistently pushing Rebels via Twitter. In fact, as recently as yesterday he was asking for feedback on the "Machine In The Ghost" clip.

But, now that I think about it, Jason and Jimmy Mac of RebelForce Radio interviewed Dave Filoni for their August 8th podcast while they were visiting Lucasfilm. I remember them (Jason/Jimmy and Filoni) mentioning Kinberg...but I don't recall them mentioning Weisman (unless I missed it). I found that to be odd.

If Weisman is in fact gone, I think it's a blow to the show. Not that they can't recover, as I have a lot of confidence in Filoni. But, Weisman is such a talented storyteller...Young Justice remains one of my favorite tv shows (not just animated, but tv shows in general) in recent memory.

Pretty much a loss. I'll still check out the show and I'm still looking forward to it, but it does seem a bit weird.

I hope Weisman is working on another big project, at least.

I'm not too worried about it Dave and his team can handle it. They have done it before.

Can't help but be afraid of this, the plot just looks more childish, with some weird concepts like the light slingshot, then you have the bits with the Inquisitor, who just looks awkward looking, as does the movements in the video preview where he was the center.

I was already a little put down when the first images started appearing and the characters all looked incredibly generic, now the more i know, the less interest i feel, the animation expecialy looks like a massive downgrade from The Clone Wars.

Really? lol. This looks amazing. We have people dying left and right. It is not some "overtly" child like thing. The Inquisitor stuff was amazing.

Indeed. They said they're aiming for the tone of the original trilogy, which had its jokes and adventures, but still had some violence and darkness in there.

Not everyone serious show has to have a dark color palette and characters that are constantly angry or brooding.

The tone looks like that of an 80s cartoon to be honest, this clip expecialy looked very awkward to me:

Just look at the Inquisitor's face, kinda hard to take him seriously, Star Wars is full of funny looking characters, but this just looks like a generic one note 80s cartoon villain.

Then there's the light slingshot, what was even the point...

And i don't see the tone of the original Trilogy in there, if anything, The Clone Wars cartoon was closer to that, you talk about the dark color palette as if the Prequels had that and the Originals didn't, but the Prequels were actualy more colorful overall, while the Originals had a less cartoony and more organic look, much like the TCW show.

I'm not even arguing about this needing to be dark, broody or with a dark color palette, but this realy look unimpressive overall, with the animation being a major downgrade from the last show, realy, look at what we just had:

I understand wanting to use different designs and do something completely different, but this doesn't look nearly as impressive. Star Wars: The Clone Wars was the first show that convinced me that CGI animation could be done for a cartoon and look impressive, it gave a new dimension to the story and made it feel like a healthy mix between the original Clone Wars look and the films. Some of the best episodes even seemed like expansions of the films, with the same adventurous feel and epic scale, as well as storylines that pay out.

I don't think every cartoon needs to be CGIed, and in some cases they actualy look worse this way, with animation and designs that will age like milk in a refrigerator, to me this looks like one of those cases, another run of the mill CGI cartoon that doesn't stand much in the middle of the crowd.

These are obviously just my opinions, you're all free to feel different, but to me this was just a step backwards.

I hate to say it, but I agree. I have been doing a Clone Wars rewatch (currently in Season 4) and you saw the animation and the amount of detail increase as the series goes on. Then I saw that 7 minute preview and felt it all took a step or two backwards. In fact, I had just watched the Clone Wars episode that featured Gotals (Mandalore corruption with Satine's nephew and friends, Asoka as teacher) and they looked much better and detailed in that then in this preview.

And they showed commercials with Star Destroyers during the Phineas & Ferb special. The Star Destroyers in a Phineas & Ferb cartoon looked more detailed than the ones in Rebels.

And I don't think it looks kiddie. These "heroes" are lobbing grenades (in public market places) at troopers who are currently doing nothing and gleefully shooting troopers in the face at point blank range. Sorry, but that ain't what the Original Trilogy was like.

And that 3 minute short with the Ghost under TIE fighter attack was more, look how we can copy shots exactly from the Millennium Falcon escape from the Death Star in Star Wars.

I have faith in Dave Filoni and his crew, so I will definitely be watching. But, I'm a bit wary now.

And again, I can dream that Greg Weisman is moving on to a Spider-Man project.

The look is suppose to go back, and be based off of simpler drawings from Ralph. The animation to me does not feel "backwards". It's just a different style. The detail is intentionally not as much as it was before.

I know it's supposed to go back to McQuarrie's illustrations, and that's a great idea, but i don't think they're doing it all that well, even good ideas are badly executed, and in this case, not all of the ideas may be 100% good.

I don't hate the designs, but i don't like the animation.

I'm fine with the animation. I think it looks great. What matters most though regardless is the stories, and they already sound pretty good. Almost all the reviews from the first two episodes have been highly positive.
