And why?
And why?
I think it's time to stay far away from the Prequels/Clone Wars era for like 10 years lol
I feel like, if AND ONLY IF the new films are good, then the Prequels will be looked upon as the Roger Moore* era of Star Wars.
I just hope the new films will play it like Casino Royale and Skyfall; paying respect to what has came before..and keeping it fresh and classy at the same time.
*And when I say Roger Moore, it's not disrespect for Moore. I enjoyed his Bond films for their schlock value and what they offered to the Bond franchise in retrospect. But when you break it down, Moore probably did 2 movies that are worth while out of the 6 movies he's done. That's how I feel what the Prequels will be looked upon in a few decades: Moments of greatness that's being constantly drowned out by its aggressive mediocrity.
The whole point, I think, is to pull people away from that era. I think that's the intent of the show - to move away from the Prequels, including the movies and The Clone Wars, and cautiously put them back into the era of the original movies and beyond (Episode 7)
It's almost a gateway for the OT to come back into the spotlight, without being disrespectful.

I'll admit, and I won't judge on you for liking the Prequels, that I'm kinda happy that we're going back to the originals. I just think they're stronger films and I feel like the Prequels systematically divided not just Star Wars fans, but geeks in general. It doesn't matter if you liked (or I disliked) the Prequels. It is what it is.
Like what Drew McWeeney (of Hitfix) said, it's annoying when you have geek blogs 'roll their eyes' at anything Star Wars these days; it annoys me too. And hopefully Disney can bridge that gap and make the franchise united again with not just SW fans but every picky geek out there.
You knew I was looking at this thread, didn't you?![]()
For me, it's clear that there was more to come. Maybe in terms of Ahsoka it was pretty clear and i was satisfied with her fate, but there's plenty more that i figured would be answered the next seasonSo when The Clone Wars ended with Season 5, did it actually feel anticlimactic, like you can tell there were more seasons in the making? Or was there enough closure to keep the fans satisfy??
I'll be surprised if Filoni and co don't answer some of the lingering questions from Clone Wars (Ahsoka) in the new series.
Considering how distant Rebels will be from Clone Wars, I think that would be highly unlikely.
Maybe he could tell continuing Clone Wars stories through other formats (books, comics)?

But those bonus content episodes better not disappoint.
As far as starting closer to Episode IV, I get why they would do it, but I wish they would start closer to Episode III. I mean, they are saying there is 20 years worth of stories, why start in like year 15 or so? I also wanted to see Anakin adjust to his new role as Dark Lord of the Sith.
