Set 14 years after “Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith,” “Star Wars Rebels” will center on a core group of characters — with the Inquisitor serving as a major villain tasked by Darth Vader to track down the final remaining Jedi Knights.

Hero Complex chatted with Filoni before NYCC to learn more about what fans should expect from “Star Wars Rebels,” which will premiere on Disney Channel in the fall of 2014 before airing regularly on Disney XD. And he also shared some “Clone Wars” details too.

14 years after ROTS? Wow, I didn't expect the time period to be that close to A New Hope.

I like Dave not completely shutting the door on the possibility of characters from The Clone Wars (or ANH, for that matter) appearing in the series. Fourteen years after ROTS is a bit further than I expected, but I like it.

Still hoping for an appearance by Cad Bane at some point.

With Dave bringing back so much of the technical staff from The Clone Wars, I hope he brings back some of the voice actors as well. James Arnold Taylor, Tom Kane, Dee Bradley Baker, Stephen Stanton, Catherine Taber, Niki Futterman, etc. They're all so talented!

I'm really excited for this, yes!!! t: interesting that the show takes place 14 years after ROTS, but it does make sense if the Rebellion will start to rise by then. People needed to start to realize the Empire was a bad idea, and that had to take some time for the general public fully acknowledge, especially after ROTS. It does open the door to a whole lot of characters from PT, OT and CW to show up though, so i cant wait

There is also another reason for using a new villain. The heroes are going to have to win at least some of the time. The problem with using Vader is that if he constantly fails to eliminate these new characters, it makes him far less intimidating as a villain. Having this guy sidesteps that potential problem. Also, I'm really looking forward to the inevitable Vader/Asokha duel.

The Inquistor is a interesting villain, but I hope Vader isn't lessened because of him.

Why would Vader be lessened? The Inquisitor is going to lose a lot more than Vader will.

Agreed completely...that's the primary reason for this new character. They can't show Vader failing to defeat this band of rebels for the entire run of the series. That would take away from his mystique.

Also, I'd love to see Ahsoka pop up on this show, and I too believe she will. I'm not sure we'll get the duel, but I can't imagine her not showing up eventually.
