Rebels Star Wars: Rebels

I do wonder why Disney put this on DisneyXD instead of Disney Channel. Do they just not care about purposefully limiting their viewership? Or did they do it to increase traffic on DisneyXD.com?
It is because all of their shows of this ilk are on DisneyXD. That is the only reason.

By the way, finally saw the first two episodes. I am a fan. It just feels so OT, in a very, very good way. Plus, Sabine is fine.

I think Disney XD has really been pushed to be a channel for boy's (which is why all the Marvel animated stuff is there) so it makes sense Star Wars would be there (and that Disney Channel is VERY kid friendly, the kinda deaths likely to be seen on Rebels wouldn't fit well with the Channel I think).

So far Star Wars Rebels is off to a great start, much better than The Clone Wars was in its early days. Ezra and Sabine are not annoying like I feared they would be.

that's not fair!! you can't have both Sabine AND Daisy!! :cmad:

Yeah since Friday I think.

thanks. do they archive the past eps?

and where abouts on the site do you watch the eps?

I glanced at the site briefly but it wasn't readily obvious where to go to watch the Rebels eps.

When people say episode 3 are they counting Spark of Rebellion as episodes 1 and 2 combined? As I have episode 2 listed as airing on October 13th.

I've seen the numbering all over the place.

I've seen "Droids in Distress" referred to as Episode 1 (because whoever didn't count a "movie" as an episode at all), Episode 2 (as whoever counts the "movie" as one big episode), and Episode 3 (because whoever counts the "movie" as two episodes pasted together.)

"Spark of a Rebellion" is the first two episodes. "Droids in Distress" is the third episode, which premieres on tv October 13. Considering the episode count for the season is 16, and "Spark of a Rebellion" takes up two slots, it is two episodes.

Also, did I mention how much I love the OT sound effects and overall sound design here? Just feels like Star Wars. :atp:

Yeah it feels very OT which is great! If the rest of the show can at least maintain what we saw in Spark then it will be a fun little show. If it can tackle some complex and deeper storylines like TCW ended up doing then its gonna be another worthy entry in the Star Wars mythos. I still won't forgive Disney for killing TCW tho. Both of the shows should have been running together. Imagine that. TCW at 9 PM and Rebels at 9:30 PM. They could have carried some characters over and everything. Could have been great.:(

My brother is also still pissed about TCW. Like really pissed. I would be as well, if not for the fact that Rebels just fits my sensibilities a whole lot more. I really liked the TCW, and when it was really good, it could be great. But I never saw the genius in it others. Maybe shows BTAS, ATLA, JLU, TT, YJ, TMNT 2012, early Simpsons, and Adventure Time have spoiled me. I have watched a lot of really good animated shows, and it never quite measured up for me.

I find the most annoying thing about TCW is it feels every few months we learn about something cool they wanted to do with in the next couple of seasons, that we are not gonna get to see in the intended form. Characters like Maul and Ventress were in line to finally get to the meat on their storylines.

Yep. That irritates me to no end. Ahsoka, Ventress, Maul, and many of the clones are just big fat question marks now. I wanted the show to at least follow through to ROTS so we'd know what became of these characters. Filoni had been hinting at the possibility of a post ROTS season or show before the Disney deal came to light so IDK maybe with Filoni working on Rebels he can convince Disney to let him bring some of the TCW characters into Rebels. If Ahsoka isn't dead then surely we could meet her again at some point. Maul likely is dead. Ventress is dead or staying off the radar during Rebels so I doubt she will pop up again. At the very least, Disney/Lucasfilm should release some books that wrap up TCW characters.

There's the likelyhood that Disney wants to steer clear of prequel and TCW material tho so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Yeah, whatever your feelings on the prequel era, it seems pretty clear that Disney doesn't want much to do with it right now. TCW ended sadly being a causality of that. The only realistic way I can see more TCW is if perhaps they do shorter seasons for Netflix, which I think would be a great idea. Perhaps even releasing "story arcs" every month or so.

But right now, it is early, but I am very happy about Rebels.

I'd love something like that. I guess we just gotta give it time. How much time is a concern.

My biggest fear is that they are going to blackball all prequel era stories until the entire new trilogy is released. Which would be imo a case of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The prequels were troubled, no doubt, but that era of the star wars mythos is not inherently bad. If they want to distance themselves from the prequels or retcon that era I understand, but that whole era need not be stigmatized like some leper of the star wars mythos.

I tried so hard to like this show but it was quite a boring experience and the animation is terrible. The fact that this is airing and clone wars cancelled tells me all I need to see of how disney is handling the star wars brand.

You can of course have your opinion on the show, but that right there is factually incorrect. The animation, while stylized, is quite good.

Smooth furless wookies? LOL enough said. They looked like a bad halloween costume you would get at spirit halloween stores. The stiffness of the characters too was un easy on the eyes and the weird shaped heads. Coming from someone who took classes in college on computer animation most of the stuff on this show was downright Amateur. I know they pander to kids with a show like this but good grief.

I've come to terms with the abrupt ending of CW, just because they did end it brilliantly, but yeah, having these two shows together covering different eras would have been awesome.

Love what i've seen of Rebels so far, so i'm looking forward to what's coming :woot:

As far as the PT goes, i just dont see Disney messing with it much anytime soon. In the future? who knows.

Thanks guys, just wanted to make sure I was up to speed and didn't miss an ep.

Yes DS, the sound design is classic oldschool SW goodness! :D

I watched the show this weekend and loved it! I've been out of Star Wars for a long long time. The sale of Lucas to Disney felt like a rebirth to me.I finally feel the Spark of my Star Wars love coming back stronger then ever.
