Star Wars: The Clone Wars

I was not all that impressed with the prequels and I greatly enjoy this series.

It feels A LOT more like the OT than the prequels do.

Anyone been watching this show? I have really enjoyed it so far.

I've been watching it too, i like it!!

I need to catch up on last week though, hopefully i can get a break and check it before friday.

I've really enjoyed Rookies, Ambush, Destroy Malevolance, Dooku Captured and Gungan general the most, although i must admit all of the episodes have entertained me quite a bit.:woot:

I'm hoping for an Obi-Wan episode soon, cause i think he just needs to have more individual action.

I guess this show deserves it's own thread. :)

It's a fantastic series and I hope it's doing well with ratings. It can get dark, violent and over-all feels very much like Star Wars. Even more than the prequels.

I really don't like the episodes with Jar Jar in them.

And one of those episodes, Jar Jar's voice was wacked up.

I agree, there was one episode (i think it was Gungan General), that his voice just sounded so wrong it kinda threw me off, and i can say it was the first time i asked myself 'what's wrong with Jar Jar!?" :hehe:

I dont mind Jar Jar in small dosages, but i'd rather see the clones in action :woot:

I've seen every episode, including the movie, and I've been pretty satisfied with it.

It certainly got off to a rocky start, what with the Jar Jar and the oh so hysterical droids, but things have been picking up. The animation is gorgeous, and the voice work is rock solid. I'd prefer a little more serialization, but I'm sticking with it.

I love the droids. At first I didn't really get the humor, but now they really crack me up.

I've never had issues with the droids to be honest, i kinda like the fact that they're so useless and goofy :hehe:

I like the fact we really get to see the personalities under the helmets of the troopers...the show actually has me carrying when you see one of them get shot down.

They seem to be pulling away from the goofy a little though.

It's got me hooked!

I think the weakest episodes are those with the characters from the prequels (esp. Anakin, Obi Wan and Jar Jar). All three are just as dreadful as they were in the movies.

On the plus side, I find the more screen time they give to the new characters (the clones, Ahsoka and the vaious "guest" jedi), the better the series gets!

Nah, Anakin is great in this show. He isn't whiney and annoying. He actually acts like a responsible and knowledgeable Jedi. Obi Wan is fine too. Their relationship is a lot better in the show too. I think a lot of you guys are really affected by the movies and can't see the differences in the show. I think if Anakin was the way he was in the show, but in the movie.. the movie would've been so much better.

The films needed to have Anakin as a whiney kid. This is exactly how the most fiersome villain in the galaxy would start out as. How would he start out calm and crap like that? His anger and stubbornness effects him in the end and the choices he makes.

Yeah I guess you don't have much vision you could do that... Or you could always go with the noble warrior who failed in his moment trial because of a major weakness from his past... You want to actually LIKE your hero before he turns to the dark side, not be totally annoyed with him. I really didn't have much sympathy for Anakin in the films. I am enjoying the animated version of him though. I really like Ahsoka too. At first I thought she was going to be an annoying sidekick, but they have given her some depth and she plays off Anakin very well. I also enjoyed her in the episodes with that green face Jedi Master lady. They had a great dynamic going.

I can say i've never felt much sympathy for Vader/Anakin... when i was a kid he was just a big meanie to me, so i was never inclined to see him as a nice guy, no matter what Ben Kenobi said in ANH :oldrazz: and that translated for me in the PT.

I dont think it would have been realistic portraying Anakin as the noble hero who just falls in the PT, i think he needed to be a bit more complicated than that. Considering his background as a slave, and the fact that he had to leave his mother (who later was killed) provided a good excuse for him being a little unstable, and i like that. The way i see it, Luke had the pureness that Anakin didnt, and even though some things had to be paralels between them, for the most i think they had to contrast with each other.

The thing is, the CW cartoons can focus a bit more on the heroic side of Anakin with hints of darkness, something i dont think they could do in the movies. I think if they had started with Anakin as a young man instead of a little boy, it might have been easier to show this heroic side of him in the PT instead of just focusing on the darkness, but since they started him so young they werent as able.

Bim I completely agree with you. You can't have Anakin sulking in all the episodes.

Anakin had to start out as a little boy. He becomes a much more tragic character. Learnign that he endured this much stuff all his life will **** you up. It's like having divorced parents, most people in my school are ****ed up people and this happened at a early age. It's much more plausible than being a noble hero.

Well yeah, while i would have preffered an older Anakin, i can see where Lucas came from with making him younger.

Was there a new CW episode last night? i went out and missed it if there was one...

Oh indeed, it seems there wasnt a new episode this week...thanks Doctor Jones! :woot:

However, i did come across a trailer for the upcoming Ryloth Trilogy episodes: http://starwars.com/video/view/000764.html
EPISODE XIX- 1x19: Storm Over Ryloth
EPISODE XX- 1x20: Innocents of Ryloth
EPISODE XXI - 1x21: Liberty on Ryloth

And it looks like the last episode for this season will be EPISODE XXII - 1x22: Hostage Crisis, which airs on march 20th.

Oh man, last night's episode was for me the best of the season... i loved the action, the bits of humor, the little twilek girl and of course, Obi-Wan kicking butt.

Next week's looks very cool with Mace getting some action.

I've been watching faithfully & loving it. My only problem is, no matter what happens in each ep, it's like they're saying "It's nothing. Next week is what you really wanna see!"

Anyone else feel that watching this series has improved your viewing of the prequels (minus phantom menace)?

For myself...it really has. Especially the clones. Because in the series we get to really see WHO they are...not merely mindless clones, but each with their own personalities. Which makes their betrayal in RotS even more impacting to me.
