State Your Opinion on a Character (New 52 Edition) - Part 1

ROCKET RED (DMITRI)

Dmitri was a fun character. If I remember it right (and I am sure Aziz will correct me) but he was the second RR to join the JLI. His predecessor was a Manhunter agent, no? So, he gets tapped to replace him in the League and I liked that while they used him to do a lot of culture clash comedy he was never just some big dumb "foreign" guy. He was married, dedicated to his role as a hero and a loyal member of the League despite being a "national" hero of his homeland.

I do not remember how he died. I didn't read that post "Evil Max Lord" JLI stuff but I get killing him off. I think that the concept of the RR's in general is very cool. I liked Johns bringing them back in his GL run and they had some import in the 52 weekly story as well. Personally I would love to have another RR on the League, but I would make it a woman this time and have her as sort of a rival/friend to Hal Jordan, pretty much a female Hal in many ways, who is a competent hero with or without her special equipment. I also think that the RR armors need better definition of abilities. It's hard to do that without just making it Iron Man armor without as many bells and whistles. Anyway... My two cents.

Nothing to correct on the first half. :D

I haven't read that much with poor RR, didn't know he was killed.

I really like Eclipso and have ever since discovering him from the old WHO'S WHO. I thought there was potential there and I liked the crossover they did with him, added a lot to the DCU and the character. The regular series he got was hit or miss but like I said adding things to his mythology like being a creation like The Spectre made sense. Johns included Eclipso in his JSA run as well and that also worked for me. I think that he should be used as this great all around villain for multiple DC heroes. The possession angle of course complicates any actions against him wich is good for narrative tension. I have to say I have always wondered if there is a connection between Dr. Gordon and Jim Gordon?

He's gotta appear on one of these DC shows sooner or later, right? Most likely Supergirl, since they've already got aliens. He's also the kind of bad guy where he doesn't even need to show up in full costume, they could just have the main cast acting out of character and they'd still have fun with it. So basically your average episode of Smallville.

Aziz asked me to run all his character and VS. threads while he's away from the Hype.

Stephanie Brown

It occurred to me the other day that tracking down and reading every Stephanie Brown story wouldn't be that difficult.

I remember when Spoiler first showed up on the scene. I have to say... I don't get the fascination with the character in the least. Dead. Alive. Erased from continuity. I just don't care.

I know I'm in the minority, but I love Stephanie Brown. I like her as Spoiler and Robin. She was a decent batgirl too but Barbara and Cassandra cast a long shadow. I loved her origins in Eternal.

Stephanie has been pretty great in her various iterations, if you ask me. I particuarily love her origin in Eternal. To be completely honest, I'm more of a fan of both her and Cassandra than Barbara, but then I always tend to gravitate towards the lesser known characters.

Munro is kinda cool though I can't say any of his stories were great. I think you get more out of him if you know he's a Superman stand in created to have a back story based on inspirations for Supes.

Good addition to the mythos. She expands Sinestro's character and continues the story of Katma Tui and her planet. I have not kept up so I am guessing from that picture that she went to the dark side?

Not exactly. She's Sinestro Corps. But she isn't evil.

Sinestro handed her the reins to the Corps and with the GLC missing they filled the vacuum. She turned them into a force for good more or less and got the universe to trust them about as much as the GLC. And then Sinestro pulled a Palpatine, took the Corps back and went all Police Brutality on the universe.

It was pretty brilliant.

Soranik is great. I'm really enjoying her story in the current Hal & the GLC book.
